As someone selling a house 3 hours away, it was wonderful having people 'on the ground' in the local area, who didn't just have local knowledge, but who were willing to go the extra mile and oil the wheels of the sale - getting people in to make the house and garden look their best, taking meter readings, etc. Nothing was too much trouble. My first offer came the day after it was posted online, and when this buyer pulled out, they managed to get another buyer within a few days. Most importantly, the property is always tenanted. I was beyond disappointed with Ted George Estate agents. I rented a property and it was a hellish experience. Primarily neither Ted George nor the owners believed they were managing the property and I as the tenant was left with the consequences. My 4 year old daughter and I had no hot water and heat for 2 months, no dishwasher for 3 months, no washing machine for 2 weeks over Christmas, no use of the master bedroom for 3 months due to damp, paid for gardening for a garden that wasn't used. The list goes on. After leaving I still could not get a clear answer on who was meant to be managing this property. As a multiple rental property owner I am shocked and scared of this ambiguity, not just was it a nightmare for a tenant ( who paid on month every time) but with the wrong tenant this could lead to disastrous circumstances. I still can't fathom failing to do proper checks and renting out a home on a long term tenancy with no hot water or heating working. And between both the estate agent and owner deflecting, defending and gas lighting I was made to feel like all the issues such as dodgy plumbing were somehow I the tenants fault.
