I had an unfortunately negative experience with Vincent shaw. After completing all the necessary credit and right-to-rent checks, I was left in a state of confusion and frustration when the property I thought I had secured was suddenly not available to me.
Despite following all the required steps, paying holding deposit and being fully compliant, (also confirmed by the right move) their communication was lacking, and I felt that my time and efforts were not valued. It was disheartening to deal with such unprofessionalism in what should have been a straightforward process. They simply rejected us by saying landlord has changed their mind.
I would caution anyone considering their services to think twice, as my experience suggests they lack the reliability and professionalism one would expect from a reputable estate agent.

I have been a tenant in a property managed by Vincent Shaw for a couple of years and we overall had a good experience with this lettings agency. Alex Brzuszkiewicz in particular was an excellent agent. Alex is extremely professional, friendly, and helpful. The property we stayed in had some issues during the course of our tenancy and Alex was speedy in resolving them. The move-in process was smooth, and the moving out process was efficient with our full deposit received back within a couple of weeks of handing the keys in. Overall, we would definitely recommend Vincent Shaw as a rental company, and if you are lucky enough to get Alex as your property manager you will be in great hands!!

I have been a tenant in a property managed by Vincent Shaw for nearly five years, and in my experience they stand head-and-shoulders above other Letting Agencies I have dealt with in Cambridge. Vincent Shaw have always been highly responsive, friendly, and both generous and responsible in their interactions with us as tenants. Staff at Vincent Shaw really bring a 'human' touch to their interactions with tenants, being willing to listen carefully, to understand one's situation, and to come to the best solution for both tenant and landlord.

I absolutely agree with the poor reviews that others have shared on Trustpilot. It looks like the issue with this agency is always the same: lack of assistance, delay in reply, rudeness, but most importantly renting out flats which do not match the health and safety requirements!
Just to list a few issues I encountered during my tenancy:
Firstly, I moved into a flat that should have been pro-cleaned but had even poo!!!
The maintenance issues never got sorted.
I had huge safety issues in the flat I rented out, and there has been not assistance from them. The agency ignored council claims and police reports, and never got to an agreement. They did not even apologised for what I went through.
Eventually I got off that flat and they made me continue to pay even though the flat was inhabitable.
Never had such a bad experience with any letting agency in the UK over the last 10 years! Not recommended at all!

My first experience of Vincent Shaw was in 2006 when buying my flat in Cambridge. Roy was the agent and he was great, along with the team. I've just sold the same property now in 2023 and dealt with Jonathon. Jonathon was equally fantastic - honest, straight-forward, dedicated, friendly and responsive. Being An Agent , they are also part of finding houses to people who enquire with them. But, The worst reality that is happening is, They won't give priority to people who apply first even complete all the required criteria. The simple and easy way of rejecting Indian's Application is by "The Owner Chose Another Application, Sorry". And they never contact you. This is Not a Responsible Company should do. Alberto was the most professional and kind-hearted agent. He answered all our questions patiently, gave advice to my first-time-tenant niece whom I was accompanying and entertained all her queries no matter how naive they were. He treated her with the utmost respect and gave the impression that he cared whether we find the right place or not. Unfortunately, there was not a fit between the apartment and her. But we really wish we could work together with Alberto. We know we could trust him.

Vincent Shaw dealt with most queries and problems that we had promptly and were not overbearing in any way. All visits and inspections were organised in advance. They were very fair when it came to inspecting the property at the end of the tenancy. Christianne managed our let throughout, we were always given ample warning and flexibility with any work or checks that needed to happen. The online system to manage your tenancy is very handy, and not something I’ve used with other agents. The inspections during and at the end of our tenancy were very fair, and we ultimately felt respected as tenants throughout. The agent Alberto Maritano, who initially showed us the property was friendly and refreshingly human :) When our landlord was evicting us we were thrown into a highly stressful situation, which luckily had a happy ending. We desperately needed a small amount of flexibility in order to avoid homelessness with 2 small kids and another on the way, for an unknown period (few days to a fortnight) as we finalised the contracts on our new property. The landlord, despite initially assuring us he would be happy to remain flexible, suddenly changed his mind - throwing us into another black hole of frenzy and stress. We were really relieved and grateful to find that Christianne appealed to the landlord on our behalf, of her own accord, to extend the exit by a weekend, making our departure a lot less stressful and manageable for us - and thankfully also then coinciding with the exchange of keys for our new house. A company with a soul. I only give 4* instead of 5* because I found the check-in and unsual check-out and admin fees etc excessive and something I deeply disagree with having been forced to pay them over and over again, draining our finances each time we've moved house. But can't fault their service and otherwise highly recommend. Thank you :)

Vincent & Shaw have been supportive and helpful in our property and land purchase in Cambridge. They have helped us to liaise with our vendor on a complicated purchase and for which we are very grateful.
Our purchase may have taken probably the longest in their history of almost 17 months but their open and can-do attitude kept us on track to ensure the deal was completed efficiently.

We have used Vincent shaw for all of our house sales over the last 12 years ( 3 in total, and also one house purchase via them also).
I can honestly say they are really lovely to deal with, great communication, professional but down to earth staff who know the housing market well and are extremely helpful. Jonathon’s calm manner particularly during some tricky negotiations, meant that our sale remained on track despite a few wobbly moments! Can’t recommend them highly enough , not your average estate agent!

Very disappointed in this agency's actions as we were moving out - agent Mathew Rose turned up without us having received notification of him wanting to show people around out flat - despite 24 hour legal notice period. Claims he sent the email but we did not receive it. He didn't follow it up with us when we didn't reply to confirm that it was OK and just showed up unannounced and invaded our privacy. Christianne Tipler returned our deposit late outside of the 10 day period in which it should legally be returned. When we complained about this and requested the £25 fee they charge you (on top of the millions of other ridiculous fees) to be returned seeing as it was late, Christianne showed appalling customer service and repeatedly argued with me bringing up completely irrelevant information and essentially just lying about things that she claimed we had not done at the end of the tenancy. We eventually got this money (on principal) by complaining to the director of the company. It shouldn't need to go that far - it shouldn't cause that much stress.
They messed up the payment, Christianne should have had the grace to refund us the fee as a showing of good will and customer service. It felt like the agency was only pleasant to us whilst we were of use to them - i.e. when they were getting money out of us (as per every other letting agency a small fortune of fees for various admin things that really don't cost that much) and then were quite happy to screw us for as much money as possible once they knew we were not going to be tenants with them any more.
I would therefore avoid them. Though lets face it all these agencies are soulless, money grabbing institutions who try to bleed you dry of as much of your hard earned money as possible. Let's hope our shambles of a government really does finally get rid of these ridiculous fees.

I`ve rented a flat for one year from this agency. In one year, the toilet was blocked for more than a month, the cooker and the washing machine broke down.The flat was leased with a kitchen window broken (could not be open), and with very old furniture. We paid 300 pounds for references, 1000 pounds deposit and, at the end of the contract we were proposed to receive 300 pounds from the deposit because the agency called three different companies to unblock the toilet without even asking us. Christianne Typler, the residential manager encouraged my partner to pee in the bath every time we were phoning to highlight this issue. One of the agents, Alberto who came to show the flat to future customers barely knows english....Very, very disappointed and I would not recommend anyone to use their services.

I have rented properties with some of the other estate agents in Cambridge with hindsight I would have chosen Vincent Shaw from the outset. They are the blue Print of how a business should be run. There professionalism was second to none. They don't just go through the motions they really do care about there clients. I was kept in the loop throughout the process and and given the best possible advice for my personal situation. I can't praise them enough especially Christianne who went above and beyond here duties as the lettings manager. I will be recommending Vincent Shaw to my friends and colleagues and most definitely will use them in the future. Keep up the good work. You are a truly inspirational company in your field. Vincent Shaw are an extremely bad estate agent if you are arranging rental contracts or tenant referencing. Uncommunicative and inadequate implementation. We went elsewhere in the end. Would recommend you do too.

Just purchased a property with VS and I must say that Jonathan went the extra mile to help us during some pretty difficult periods with both our circumstances and the buyer. He was a great intermediary when it was needed. The period from acceptance of offer to completion took 7 months and he continued to show perseverance, tenacity and initiative throughout. Fantastic chap and his commission would have been well deserved.
