Alistair and the team were great in helping us to sell our flat last year.<br>Very professional and friendly. Great knowledge of the local area. Great communication, Alistair always responded quickly to any of our emails and messages.<br>The whole process from start to finish was very easy and I would not hesitate to recommend Alistair and C James to anyone looking to buy/sell property in the SW19/SW20 area.

We bought our first home through C James and Co. They were utterly brilliant! Able to answer all of our questions, were responsive to queries raised by the solicitors in the selling process and were proactive. Allistair was extremely pleasant to deal with over the months long process and it’s nice to see such a well run, local, family business thriving. If we ever decide to move we would use them to sell our home.

Unlawful demands and breach of Renters' Rights Act<br><br>I strongly advise prospective tenants to avoid C James & Co Wimbledon.<br><br>During our offer process, the Branch Manager, Alistair, demanded several illegal terms in order to secure the property:<br><br>Paying 3–6 months of "rent credit" upfront (an obvious attempt to bypass the statutory cap on advanced rent).<br><br>Forcing the tenant to pay for the landlord's Rent Protection Insurance.<br><br>Refusing a legitimate UK guarantor scheme (Housing Hand) unless we complied with these unlawful upfront fees.<br><br>Under the Renters' Rights Act, making upfront rent beyond the first month a mandatory condition for a tenancy is strictly prohibited. When we refused, he attempted to mislead us regarding the regulations.<br><br>We have officially withdrawn our offer and have reported this branch, along with the full email evidence, to Merton Council's Trading Standards and the Property Ombudsman. This agency relies on tenants not knowing their rights to enforce illegal terms. Save yourself the stress and find an honest agency.
