Awful experience with Marcus Grimes &Co.
I rented a property through Marcus Grimes, Cuckfield.
It took months to get windows and boiler fixed while I was there. I spent last winter with a window flying open in the wind and a water heater that didn't work properly.
Toilet seat was also in need of replacement which was never done.
When it came time to leave, I asked if I could end the lease 3 weeks early to which they responded no. Fine, I understand. But then they wanted me to hand over the keys and get full access to the property for viewings. That's a bit cheeky.
I spent a full day cleaning the 1 bedroomed flat before I left. Not because it was dirty but because I am a bit of a neat freak. I left the property SPOTLESS. Better than when I moved in. I had replaced the shower hose and fixed cupboards that were broken when I moved in. All just because I like a neat, clean place to live in.
One particular point was the oven. The owner left greasy baking trays and rubber baking sheets in the oven. This was ignored when I moved in but I still cleaned the oven to a very high standard before I left. Even though I never use the oven and this was the owners mess.
They now want to charge me £170 to clean the oven and are complaining about "scuffs" in a very old, worn wooden bowl that was full of keys.
Pathetic attempts to try make it look like I didn't take care of the property which in fact was in spotless, better than before condition when I moved out.
I have asked for photos of these particular items showing their spotless, perfect condition but they cannot provide any because that simply wasn't the case.
I find the check out procedure very lacking and untruthful. They seem to think that tenants just have to roll over and do whatever they say.
I would never recommend these people.

I have to say how impressed I was with Marcus Grimes today making a personal visit to me today to resolve an issue with the TDS scheme, Marcus has gone above and beyond our expectations and I would recommend all the team at the Cuckfield branch when considering a rental property..

Incredible service from start to finish selling our property with Marcus Grimes after having a bad experience with another agent initially. I had never realised the importance of having someone dedicated to sales progression until now - Abbie was an absolute gem and managed to keep the chain moving despite some bumps in the road. It seems that this isn’t common practice among other agents - as we were unfortunate enough to find out. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and making sure we didn’t lose out on our dream home!

We don’t normally leave reviews, but as portfolio landlords we are rarely impressed by estate agency services, however our experience with Marcus and his team over the past couple of years has been outstanding. Highly recommend.

Alexa and her staff at Marcus Grimes were absolutely outstanding throughout our tricky house sale. They served as agents, diplomats, negotiators, hand-holders and morale boosters. They were contactable at all times and made sure our house sale went through - no mean feat! I can't recommend them highly enough. They understand the emotions involved in selling and buying houses and make you feel as though you're the only client on their books. After speaking to them almost every day for three months, I miss them!
