Despite paying a significant amount of rent the cooker, dishwasher, plumbing, heating and electric garage door were not functioning properly at the start of the tenancy, Added to which, when you turned on the lights in the kitchen - it tripped the whole circuit. This was written on the inventory but no one felt the need to do warn us! Over a week later - I am still waiting for a new dishwasher, the cooker repair is scheduled for next weeks so has been unusable for 10 days, the heating is not working properly and neither is the garage door.
While Robin King have been responsive to some of the issues my point is that the property should have been up and ready for when we moved in, especially as this is only a short term let. I have not been offered any compensation from the landlord and will have to pay the full rent this month.
Learn from our mistake and check everything is working properly before you move - turn on taps, lights, cookers etc as you can't rely on the landlord or agent, all they want is to get the property rented as quickly as possible so they can have their money. Overall a very disappointing, expensive and necessarily stressful experience.
I became a landlord by default because I inherited a property and I was recommended Mansfield by a friend. They have now been my agent for over five years and they have done an absolutely brilliant job. They are very professional in all of their dealings and take the care to ensure that suitable tenants are sourced. One of the things that has really impressed is that they ensure the tenants are well served as well as looking after the interests of the landlord and a take a pragmatic view to managing the property. I must admit that I was initially sceptical about renting a house and as I have experience of being a tenant in the past myself. However they have made the whole process very easy for me indeed. The reason I have written this review is that they have achieved way over and above my expectations that I felt the need to write about it. I would definitely recommend them for both landlords and tenants alike.
