Amazing service from the company.
We used Athertons Estate during the process of buying our first house.
Owen, who take care of our case was outstanding. During whole process he kept us informed, constantly communicated with our solicitors as well as sellers solicitors and ensured that the whole process which looked quite stressful at the beginning went quick and smooth.

I cannot recommend Athertons enough! As someone with high expectations, I know I can be a demanding client – I like to be kept informed regularly (probably more often than most), expect things to be handled swiftly and efficiently, and value clear, accurate communication. Athertons not only met these expectations but consistently went above and beyond.
From the initial urgent onboarding to market (after we found a property we were keen to purchase) through to navigating the rollercoaster of house viewings and eventual success, Athertons were there every step of the way. They were quick to respond, provided constant feedback from potential buyers, and managed to keep us positive during the inevitable ups and downs of the process.
What truly stood out was their personal touch – they talked us off the ledge more than once when impatience set in, and we feared missing out on our next home. Their professionalism combined with empathy made all the difference.
The house sold quickly, and we had an incredible number of viewings – all it takes is one! Athertons' use of technology, from their excellent photographer to their apps and WhatsApp communication, made the entire process seamless and efficient. The two-point contact approach ensured we always had someone available to speak to, which really helped keep everything on track.

I originally came across Athertons when I saw a property on Rightmove that they were selling. Sam showed me around the property which turned out to be unsuitable for me. However, Sam came across as professional and knowledge. At that stage my property had been on the market for over three months with one of the big local agencies who got me lots of viewings but no offers. I therefore terminated the contract with them.
Following the termination I decided to engage Athertons to manage my sale. Sam came with his photographer. They produced a more professional set of images and a video Within a few weeks of engaging Athertons they had secured a sale at a price very close to my asking price.
The ongoing sales process was managed by Owen. He regularly contacted me to provide updates, he was great at chasing the solicitors on both sides.
I thoroughly recommend Athertons.

Sam and Owen who were dedicated to our property were amazing. They generated loads of viewings, kept us updated with regular communication after every viewing and ultimately have helped us get our house offer during a pretty slow market and time of the year. I couldn't fault Athertons and would 100% recommend and use again in the future. They are certainly moving with the times with having apps that allow you to track the stats of your property viewings and communicate via phone and whatsapp easily which helps if your working full time but want to remain in the know.

Extremely poor communication from Athertons. We left a very serious enquiry about a property we were interested in and didn't hear anything back.
I then chased this 6 days later and explained we hadn't had a response. The man took my name and number again and said the property was no longer available but he would contact us at the end of the day with an update either way. To this point I've not heard anything.
Looking for somewhere to live can be stressful and time-consuming enough without having to chase estate agents multiple times with no response, plus we missed out on this property we really liked!

Unsatisfactory Experience and I'd AVOID!

I recently concluded a tenancy with this letting agent, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here's a breakdown of my concerns:
1. **Poor Service:** The level of service provided was consistently subpar. Timely responses and attention to detail were lacking, making the tenancy more challenging than necessary.
2. **Lack of Proactive Attitude:** I was disappointed by the apparent lack of a proactive attitude. Instead of addressing issues promptly, I found myself having to initiate follow-ups, leading to unnecessary delays.
3. **Common Sense Gap:** Retrieving our deposit became a needlessly prolonged two-week ordeal. The deposit reference was only provided upon explicit request, showcasing a lack of common sense in handling such matters.
4. **Communication Issues:** Communication problems resulted in misunderstandings between us and the landlord. Clear and transparent communication was lacking, causing avoidable stress.
5. **Difficulty in Contact:** Getting in touch with this company was a persistent challenge. The inconsistency in agent availability hindered the resolution of concerns in a timely manner.
I hope this review helps future landlords, property owners and tenants. I can confirm that we were informed by our landlord that they changed agents. Now having had firsthand experience dealing with them, it now makes sense.

"We scheduled an appointment, and the real estate agency wanted to change it. We changed it without any problems, and on the day of the visit, we decided to arrive early to avoid being late. However, the agent did not arrive on time and took more than 40 minutes because he had forgotten the key to the property. I am sure that if we had been the ones to be late, nobody from the agency would have waited for us."

We selected Athertons as a local agent and having reviewed other agents they came out highly rated and very competitive on fees. From the point of calling things moved quickly with an initial consultation on the approach that would best suit our property and circumstances. The photographs and presentation were very professional and appeared quickly on Rightmove.
After a few hours we had two viewings and sold the same day having achieved a higher that anticipated offer so extremely happy with the outcome.
The team at Athertons also went above and beyond with vetting, co-ordination up the chain, and answering any questions we had as they cropped up. Recommended and would not hesitate to use again!

This is the second time I have used Athertons Estate agents in the past 8 years and again they didn't disappoint, the service they provide feels personal and professional and nothing is too much trouble. From the first meeting there were no time pressures and everything was done at my pace with minimal disruption. Sam Garlick the agent that was dealing with our house was amazingly supportive of every little bump in the road and corner we turned and he was always available at the end of the phone or I just had to drop him a email and it was done. I cannot express how happy and thankful I am with Sam and Nikita helping my mum sell her property she had lived in for the last 25 years.
Obviously from my mum living in her family home for such a long time, to anyone, of course it would be an emotional rollercoaster however, the experience from Athertons had made it the best possible journey for her.
For anyone who is selling due to personal or emotional circumstances then I highly recommend the best service from Athertons. My mum has now settled down in her nice new home but would not be possible without Sam and Nikita.

Thanks to whoever you employed to shove useless leaflets through doors , who did not have the courtesy of making sure my front gate was closed and my dog escaped. I have spent 2 hours looking for her when I should have been at the hospital visiting my father who is in ICU.
I understand why you dont have a facebook page if you cannot even train your staff to close a gate, makes me wonder how many times this has happened.

It was a massive costly mistake for us to take a punt on this estate agent. I cant fault the sales pitch, it was brilliant and we signed up straight away on the strength of it.
However that's where it all went wrong for us.
Make sure you READ THE SMALL PRINT. we were nailed to a 4 month sole agency contract, which I've later learnt is unusual, Normally its 2 or 3 months.
After serving our time we went multi agent and had 3 asking price offers in the first week alone.
I've learnt a few lessons from this.
Don't go for the cheapest option.
Don't go sole agent.
Don't agree to 4 month sole agent.
and read the small print!
