Negative experience unfortunately.
While they sold my house and met their contractual obligations, the communication and service from Pauline was poor.
Close to completion, I spoke to the manager Nicola, evidenced the issues I faced and I offered what I believed to be a fair 80%. Unfortunately she didn’t agree, which meant it was escalated to the ombudsman.
The ombudsman agreed to my 80% “As a gesture of goodwill In recognition of the communication issues faced and visits to my property without prior consent”.
Very disappointed with the service but was more disappointed that the Macclesfield branch would accept no responsibility and see things through my eyes when I tried, amicably, to reason with Nicola and provided evidence. People make mistakes and things happen in business, but she was having none of it and for me it was the principle of the matter.
Based on other Macclesfield positive reviews this may well have been a one off, I’ve purchased before with Pauline and she was great then.
One advice I would give is don’t be afraid to speak up to them - even if they don’t reply to you - it’s your sale, time and money and you have a right to receive good communication. I regret not escalating things earlier in the process.

Thanks for the response. I never said the Property Ombudsman. It was indeed settled by your internal Ombudsman who thankfully saw some sense. Sounds like you are trying to spin that as a positive but I'm not sure why.

Sold my property via Bridgfords following a bad experience with another estate agent. The process has been a revelation in comparison. The team were always available to discuss and were prompt in any requests (such as viewings/ surveys etc). Particularly highlighting in my scenario was when the buyers solicitors had pushed back reviewing the case for completion for a week. Following Pauline’s (Bridgfords) efforts this promptly brought exchange and completion forward by a week. I feel without this conversation I would still be in limbo. Can’t fault the team at all.

Don’t really understand what they do. They only did half a day of viewings, refused to accept any more viewings unless I did them (well what am I paying you for) . They didn’t keep my buyers informed with what was going on. Asked them to do simple things for me, like passing a message onto my buyers, which they didn’t do, and yet try to charge an arm and a leg for not doing a great deal. Safe to say I regret going with them

Having made an offer on a property (and a subsequently higher offer a short-time later due to a revised builders cost estimate), James proceeded to assume and misrepresent my intentions to the seller who then in turn accepted a lower offer on the understanding that I would attempt to renegotiate during the legal stage. This assertion is wholly untrue and I am completely bewildered as to why this has even been suggested to the vendor - who has now lost out on the higher sales price.
I only became aware of what James had said to the vendor as a result of the fact that he took great pleasure in telling me that my true intentions were 'transparent' that he had 'seen this trick before'. This deplorable conduct was only to be made worse by the condescending and patronising tone in which he delivered this message.
I am utterly appalled by James' behaviour and seek to discourage any seller using this branch in the future.

Awful estate agents. I was in a 5 person chain, they decided to furlough most of their staff including all of the Macclesfield branch but didn't tell any customers - therefore people were just sat waiting. We had to then see what the hold up was with our own estate agent and finally heard what was going on. Due to Bridgfords negligence the entire chain has now collapsed and we are all having to relist. Thank god i wasn't using them, but if I was I would have stopped and certainly wouldn't have paid them. They have literally done nothing, useless bunch of time wasters.

Hopless for potential tennant...they robe 150£ and go...with no help to resolve it with ladlord . I was renting property for 850£ in other agency for over 2 years with even single delay in payment. Couldn't have dealt with a bigger bunch of thieves. Firstly we couldn't view the property as we where living abroad at the time and my first question was if the property had double glazing since I knew there was a club very close by and was concerned about the noise. At this point I should have walked away but they started by lying and saying they thought it was closed, even though I was clear I already knew it was there.
Then came moving in to find the flats main radiator was broken, the place was a mess (despite them constantly telling us it had been 'deep cleaned' another clear lie) and 20+ broken lightbulbs. I then went on to find the radiator that did work was by the door that fit so poorly it did nothing to warm the flat as the heat went straight out the door, also the bathroom tap dribbled to the point of not working, the extractor in the bathroom wouldnt work, the smoke detector was broken (this is illegal) and the oven wouldn't heat up more than 180.
Complained about all this, told it would be repaired. Someone came to repair the bathroom extractor, NOTHING else. Complained, told someone would come out, nothing.
Moving out a year later, would have moved a second earlier if I could, and NONE of the issues have yet to be fixed. Despite sending countless emails and highlighting this is a breach of contract and illegal in the case of the smoke detector. Every time I was told right we will send someone out and then nothing happened. They just want you to shut up and hang up. Event went in person a few times and they try and make you feel like you are being the pest. A functional heater is NOT being a pest, its essential especially over winter.
Another small example of them trying to make you feel small whilst weasling out of responiblity is I do not have access to my water and electricity meters and need a key to get into another door. I will never deal with them again and after telling a friend they have shared similar experiences, such as when buying they were told the current occupier would be willing to move out sooner, but when speaking to them directly they said they needed more time not less! His summary is they would tell you anything to sign on that dotted line.
Avoid like the plague!
Update: When moving out I was put in touch with Amanda who I had not dealt with during my tenancy. Everything she has done has been great and she does seem to genuinely care. She has also told me that the people I have dealt with had been fired during the move to the new office (which I can confirm is true) and she helped with me issues around my deposit. Also as soon as she heard about the smoke alarm she did come around with a new working one.
She has asked me to edit this review which i am happy to do for her sake however my original review still stands since her being good at the end doesn't change what I went through during the tenancy. She has pointed out some of these issues are to do with the landlord but since I could only talk through Bridgfords who failed to communicate anything like this to me and should be more careful with their choice of landlords if these issues arrise I still think this review applies.

Couldn't have dealt with a bigger bunch of thieves. Firstly we couldn't view the property as we where living abroad at the time and my first question was if the property had double glazing since I knew there was a club very close by and was concerned about the noise. At this point I should have walked away but they started by lying and saying they thought it was closed, even though I was clear I already knew it was there.
Then came moving in to find the flats main radiator was broken, the place was a mess (despite them constantly telling us it had been 'deep cleaned' another clear lie) and 20+ broken lightbulbs. I then went on to find the radiator that did work was by the door that fit so poorly it did nothing to warm the flat as the heat went straight out the door, also the bathroom tap dribbled to the point of not working, the extractor in the bathroom wouldnt work, the smoke detector was broken (this is illegal) and the oven wouldn't heat up more than 180.
Complained about all this, told it would be repaired. Someone came to repair the bathroom extractor, NOTHING else. Complained, told someone would come out, nothing.
Moving out a year later, would have moved a second earlier if I could, and NONE of the issues have yet to be fixed. Despite sending countless emails and highlighting this is a breach of contract and illegal in the case of the smoke detector. Every time I was told right we will send someone out and then nothing happened. They just want you to shut up and hang up. Event went in person a few times and they try and make you feel like you are being the pest. A functional heater is NOT being a pest, its essential especially over winter.
Another small example of them trying to make you feel small whilst weasling out of responiblity is I do not have access to my water and electricity meters and need a key to get into another door. We have used Holden & Prescott estate agents to both buy and sell properties and have been extremely pleased with their service. We have used other estate agents in the past but unfortunately they could not compare with Holden & Prescott.
Fantastic experience with absolutely no worries or issues whatsoever, they kept us fully informed every step of the way and moved mountains if we hit a glitch!
