Nightmare dealing with Chancellors Newbury as a tenant.

House was listed as available on 28th Aug. We go ahead with this and start organising around that day. Turns out it's not available that day and earliest we can move in is the 1st Sept. Not a big issue, annoying, but we could work around that. Partner starts work on 3rd, so gives 2 days to get unpacked.

For 3 weeks leading up to that date, we're chasing for tenancy agreement. All forms we had been sent now mysteriously had 4th Sept, and I repeatedly asked for this to be corrected to the 1st Sept as we had now agreed, but nothing came.

Tenancy agreement finally comes 2 working days before we move in. Wrong date. I chase this and 1 working day before we move in, we finally get a tenancy agreement with the correct date. I pay the deposit and rent, and think that all the stress and hassle with Chancellors is now behind us, but little did I know...

Moving day. I call Chancellors to arrange getting the keys. 3 calls (9am, 9.30am, 10am), all get diverted to Chancellors HQ (bracknell) because no one answers phones in Chancellors Newbury. I'm told all 3 times that they'll mark it as urgent and I should get a call shortly. Finally I get a response from Chancellors about 2hrs after they've opened. They tell me I have to collect keys from Landlord. I call the landlord and he is not in the country at the time. He says Chancellors have the keys, but I can collect his spare from his daughter. 2hr round trip, where I only manage to get a single front door key. The furniture doesn't fit through the front door. Fed up, we drive to Chancellors Newbury, as the landlord said they have the full set of keys.

Arrive at Chancellors and they say that the landlord hasn't done the electrical safety certificate and that they cannot hand over the keys (the keys they told me the landlord had!!) because they're facing a £30k fine if they do that. Why not tell me that in the first place rather than making me drive around Hampshire? The manager there (Sue, I believe) explains she can only give the keys to the landlord or an electrician. So we're stuck. Vans full of furniture, and no where to go. No sincere apology, or help to arrange an electrician to come out and sort it immediately. She just blames the landlord. We don't care who's fault it is, we just want to move in, as we had arranged with Chancellors to move that day.

Finally get the keys when someone the landlord has sent comes to Chancellors. He takes the keys from them, walks 2m and passes them to us.

Since then, no apology. Nothing from Chancellors to apologise for not checking the property was ready to move into on the day we agreed with them. Nothing from them to apologise for making us drive halfway round Hampshire to find keys which they actually had. Very poor handling of the whole situation.

Where possible, avoid using Chancellors! Extremely poor organisational skills throughout the entire process then just blame the landlord when Chancellors themselves were the only people we were dealing with.

We contacted the Aylesbury Branch last Saturday.
Requesting details on a property we are potentially looking to rent.
Despite a further email to another account.
No one has contacted us.
I called the office this morning at 11.30 spoke to someone who advised that a message would be passed on to call back.
Again no one has called back, I have just tried to call again 3.15pm but no one is answering and found that there is no facilities to leave a message.
I am extremely disappointed to say the least and find your company highly unprofessional.

I would like a response.
