Had a terrible experience at Chancellors & we are now seeking a lawyer to get a view on our situation.

We found a premium flat on Abbey Road we loved. We made an offer, the land lady was still thinking on it. We were on a deadline to get a new place, so we made an offer on another flat with another agent, with a deposit.

Chancellors came back to us & said the land lady accepted our offer. My father wrote ‘are you sure because we will lose our deposit elsewhere’. An agent called Jack Vacher assured us we would get the flat.

We lost our deposit, & gave a debit card guarantee for payment to Chancellors:

The very next day, Chancellors refused to honour our agreement. We are now abroad on holiday, with no apartment in London when we arrive.

I am appalled. The mental stress, the financial loss & the time Chancellors has wasted with us is totally unprofessional. They said the land lady said she found tenants who can move in 1 week earlier.

We are physically not in the country to move in any earlier. We were crystal clear from the beginning on our move in date for March 1st. We never wavered from this.

It’s pathetic that we were asked to match a new offer after our agreement, for a menial more sum of 1 week more. Because it’s really not about that more menial amount of money - once you cross a certain threshold of rent per month ofcourse one can afford it.

It is the sheer disrespect of our agreement which is totally unethical. I have everything in writing on all agreements & emails, & I have written this review under my legitimate real Google profile so that others can be warned.

And Chancellors can do a reply on this to say ‘We’re sorry for your experience’, well I’m sorry we’re going to have to go to a lawyer.

Furthermore, Chancellors then emailed across a new flat we could go look at - the sheer audacity as if we would EVER trust them again! I’ve met graduates who are estate agents and don’t mess clients around this month. It’s not normal behaviour and they’re just in the game to make a quick buck.

Just adding to my review - Today Chancellor’s readvertised the property we were about to rent, showing that the land lady has discriminated against us, possibly racist because clearly there’s no other offer. I have complained to the Property Obudsman and 2 media outlets now in London.

Dominic is good guy but Jack Vacher not. We now moved to Marylebone but got better place Jack trying to cheat us pretend other offers but no offer no buyer. We not from London we from Arabia and he take advantage

You will go for a viewing, and any place you ‘vaguely’ like, the agent will contact you 1 hour after the viewing saying there is another couple interested who are also putting in an offer.

It’s a dirty tactic of Chancellor’s. I tested this with friends too that I sent who were looking for places.

There is actually no other offer. They fool you to make a high bid. Even Foxtons are more honest than the staff who work here.

My partner and I had the WORST experience with an agent called Jack last year in summer. He was dishonest about accepting our offer. He confirmed a townhouse twice in writing. After the initial legal process started, Jack withdrew the townhouse. We were left stranded from New York, with our furniture en route & ended up staying in a hotel temporarily with my partner & paying even more to store all our deliveries. Payment had even been taken from us by this agency.

We were extremely horrified by this estate agency.

I just want to warn others out there that we found much better agents in St John’s Wood.

This particular branch is fraudulent they advertise old properties they once had to seem as though they still have plenty of properties in portered buildings. I live in abbey house Westminster and they have an ad for a property in my building. I cannot say the flat number but I will be in contact with the landlord to notify them as it’s effecting my sale. Another agency also has the same property on the market for £125,000 more. They’ve also had it up since 15th May 2018 and refuse to take it down by claiming it’s under offer. I’ve messaged them numerous times and it seems it’s been under offer now for a year and a half!!! Wow these must be the slowest negotiations ever. Absolute clowns.

i have been looking for 3 years for an apartment to my liking in the St John's wood and Made Vale area . i dealt with few agencies . But then i got introduced to Chancelors through my family that have been their clients for so many years . Dealing with Chancelors was prompt and focused .
we had two visits during which we visited few properties .The first visit properties were not as expected . But the second visit only we found the required apartment as by then the Chancelors consultants became aware of our preference and suggested accordingly . We did not have to take 100 trips to less liked apartments .
I dealt with Adam , Ian and Dean.
I wish to particularly command Dean on his professionalism .We were met by some challenges with the seller and his solicitor . Dean stepped in and managed very well what could have turned into a conflict . He showed exceptional negotiations and communication skills both ways and he made sure both parties were happy with the final arrangement .
Dealing with Dean was a pleasure and I recommend his leadership and his efficiency for those that wish to buy a property in a prompt manner .

Dean was the most amazing and trustworth estate agent i have ever known. He has sold our London house in just 2 months. He was always there for my sister and I, always very thoughtful and caring. He has a really detailed knowledge of his area, and i trust him inplicitly. He worked tirelessly for us and always keeping us informed and up to date with how the sale was going. I would thouroughly recommend Chancellors and Dean Whitley.

We have had mixed experiences with estate agents over the years. Demi at Maidenhead’s chancellors has been a breath of fresh air. We have dealt with Demi all the way through the process from valuation to sell.

Demi has always gone the extra mile. Problems early on where taken on personally and has always made herself available including a day off at a crucial time of the process.

Zero help in getting a broken fence sorted out - shifted from pillar to post

Update: 5 months on and still this problem as not been sorted. Stuck with Thameside property management who deal on behalf of chancellors.

Absolutely disgusted with the treatment of chancellors estate agents!! After unforeseen circumstances we had to remove our property from the market, we did this within the agreed 14 day cooling off period.....however, we recieved threatening phone calls and emails demanding a payment! We queried this and reminded them of the 14 days cooling off period. This resulted in an absence of contact with us except a county court judgment for £400. Do not use this estate agents.
