A representative from David James Carlton was supposed to come and value my property today- for information; the office is situated at the top of my street. 3 mins walk at most.
At 12 mins past the manager left an almost inaudible phone message saying he may be late. He arrived at 3.24 saying the job involves talking to people- my reply was it is hugely impolite to arrive late and gives back impression of the service potential sellers would receive, however he decided to walk off in a huff - I had spent all day cleaning the house- very unhappy with how it went - but probably a lucky escape.

Up there with the worst landlord I have ever used
Very intrusive inspections where they take photos of the entire house and all your possessions every 2 months and send it all to the landlord
Rent goes up as often as is legally permissible
Do not meet commitments for housing (lived with them for years and they have done none of the jobs I was promised when I moved in)

I have viewed a few recently and have some good and some not so good, Claire was one of the best.
Extremely courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Never felt rushed and answered all questions with authority, even offering very useful information.

Went to see Hawley Mount, a nice house in a great location; unfortunately the garden was disappointing in as much as it's way too small for us, despite my disappointment Anna was really accommodating and still managed to make the experience a really pleasant one & continued to point out the many positives and potential workarounds. Absolutely abysmal customer service. Called Arnold branch and spoke to sarah to put an offer in on a property. I was then informed that the property was with the mapperly branch, to which I offered to call this branch to put the offer in. I was told that I was fine giving the offer, and it would be passed over in time for the best and final date.
5 days later and 3 days after the best and final date for the property, I proceeded to ring the branch to discuss the radio silence and after waiting 6 hours for a call back received one explaining our offer hadn't been passed over and that the arnold branch had "no recollection of our offer".
This experience has caused us massive anxiety as well as the loss of what could have been our dream home.
Incredibly dissatisfied and disappointed by this and not in a hurry to use them in again.

The house is so nice, it should be 98 out of 100 to me. However, no parking space is a great problem to me. I have checked and there is not enough space for street parking too. So sad.... Anna is a helpful agent in helping me to understand the house, a happy viewing experience anyway.

I am very appreciative of David James and would like to thank Lorraine for all of her hard work this week. We have had bad experiences with another estate agent who was unresponsive, uncaring and made the whole process difficult. However, she has made this whole process a lot easier and less stressful. The vendors accepted our offer within an hour of making it official and Lorraine has worked very hard all week in order to get to the point we are now - receiving the memo of sale.
We even had to change solicitors as we turned out to be using the same as the vendors, but Lorraine helped us get it sorted within the same day as finding out. She has responded promptly to any questions I sent her, has been understanding and very helpful. I can't thank her enough. We had almost given up on finding a house and now I am feeling a lot more relaxed (obviously I can't fully until we get the keys but this is a huge step in the right direction). I will absolutely use David James in the future. We can't wait to move into our first home!

Tried to arrange multiple viewings through Rightmove via David James over the past 6 months to no avail.
One property we were interested in we apparently got 1 phone call (That was not received on either phone as we were both in at the time) and was told by the lady the next day that "we only call once and if you don't answer we don't think you are interested" yet we didn't have a chance to talk to them in the first place. The same phone call the lady didn't take my details to see if we were interested in other properties.
Phoned for another time and another lady gave us the price of a house and then said it that all? No details taken again.
Just received an email from through Rightmove again on a property no one called us about but apparently the property has gone? I made the enquiry over a week ago...
Not really happy with the service as we are just new to the whole property search and this has put a downer on it all

David James were named as agents to act in a court enforcement order to market a Jointly owned former matrimonial home after proceedings in the family court.
I was not in residency at the said property and David James were faced with a challenging scenario attempting to implement the court order. Throughout this time they conducted themselves with the utmost dignity and professionalism, in spite of their endeavors they were unable to market the property freely. The matter returned to court and David James were called as independent witnesses, in spite of the inconvenience and expense this would have caused them as a company they at no time complained or increased their original quote to sell the house to take these costs into account.
After the court took decisive action to ensure a sale could proceed unhindered, a swift sale ensued, the situation was somewhat complex and due to the delays mentioned the mortgagees had concurrently obtained a repossession order on the house, giving just 8 weeks to complete a sale, we were unable to complete in this time frame and it was largely with thanks to Lorraine at The Carlton office and her persistence in communicating with the bank's solicitors and the buyer's solicitors and moving things forward swiftly, that we were given more time to complete the sale and possession action was delayed by the bank - Lorraine went above and beyond in this matter!
The manner that David James as a company and also as individuals conducted themselves in difficult matters not of their making, whilst shouldering the responsibilities the court had bestowed upon them serves as testament and credit to them, I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone looking to sell to use David James as their agents.

Engaged David James Carlton to handle the sale of my deceased mother's house. As I live in Canada there was some urgency to getting process started whilst over in the UK for only a short time. Everyone was extremely professional and efficient in getting the property on the market quickly. The marketing material was very well done and produced a surprisingly large volume of viewings resulting in an offer on the house within a week. There was constant communications about the sale and I never had to chase them to know what was going on. The sale process was handled very well by Natasha and the usual problems were dealt with efficiently, particularly as a 7 hour time difference between myself and Natasha doesn't really help any.
Overall I was very happy with my choice of David James Carlton and wouldnt hesitate to recommend them.

The office team were really supportive, always contacted me back if I had left a message, kept me well informed and up to date.
From a buyers point of view, I find David James is actually the best in getting in touch if you are trying to make a viewing, especially if raising the initial request through property websites.

When it came to selling our house I wanted to go with an agent that knew the local area well and David James seemed to be an obvious choice, whenever you see one of their for sale boards it is never long before the house is sold which I thought would be perfect. David came to the house to value it, it was December so he was honest about the market around Christmas and following his visit didn't hassle us or force us into making a decision which was a great!
After choosing to go with David James we never looked back, once the house went on rightmove we sold it within a week and had viewings everyday! throughout the process Lorraine and Natasha have kept us up-to-date at every stage and clearly have great relationships with the local solicitors and other estate agencies which has really helped with the whole process. Like every sale there have been hiccups and delays but none of this was down to David James and they have always been on the end of the phone to listen to me stress or question anything I didn't understand.
Not only have they been great agents but the recommendations of John Raybould in the mortgage shop and Yates & Co solicitors have also been fantastic and I cannot fault the service.
We move next week but wouldn't hesitate choosing David James when (and if) we move again.
