Kept on adjusting my council tax bill to higher amounts, I still paid and they still send me court summons. 2 can play at that game, il come to court with all my bank statements and il be paying £10 a month because the total amount owed hasn't changed neither even though I've paid? I have been dealing with Adult Services and occupational therapy for help with my Mum and also had equipment installed for her and somebody out from the bladder and bowel clinic and I have to say that everybody I have dealt with has been lovely, friendly, cheerful and helpful. Have been trying to get the council to sort out my next door neighbours house for years. I’ve had issues with vermin and mice as well as a lot of issues with weeds and the state of their house inside. The bins are never put out, he’s a hoarder and does not answer the door or notes. His house and surrounding gardens are a health hazard yet the council won’t do anything. There’s clear views into the house which the council can get a warrant from a judge to enter the property but they won’t. Useless.... Read more

Just had a new bathroom fitted after 35 years. The contractors were JC SERVICES. What an excellent job, Im so pleased with the end result. ERYC have done what they said from an inspector coming, who said it would be an 8 month wait , up until the work was completed yesterday.

Over 2 years waiting for this local authority to pay me my direct payment. This is now the subject of court proceedings. They owe me over £23,000. The problem is there is no accountability for their incompetence...we should not have to go to court to achieve this. Complaints don't work...they claim to lose the forms even when the evidence proves them wrong. Dreadful, breaking the law and not compliant with their own policies ad procedures.... Read more

Absolute bunch of penpushing jobsworths. They have created a ginnel when I asked them not to. They didn't send anyone out to discuss as requested and when I asked the work didn't go ahead until someone visited me, Jason Wynne went over my head and told the guys to do it anyway. Waste of resources. They removed my right to say no. They dont answer calls or emails, nobody has bothered at all. Specific to Bridlington, the Council has segregated parking bays for electric car charging, next to a sign that states ‘4 Hours Max no return etc… as I have a full electric car I used the bay and plugged-in to charge so not just parked up, and still got issued a parking ticket. Paid the £25 straight away but basically robbed. Poor signage, as no clear indication (regardless of any rebuttal by the council) about these electric bays also being P&D. Poor infrastructure in the town for parking in any case.

They refuse to maintain their trees. I've repeatedly requested they pollard or carry out a reduction to a highways lime tree directly outside our property. It has become too large and towers above our house. The branches extend several metres over our boundary nearly touching our house. Our gutters are constantly blocked despite being emptied twice a year, the roots are wrecking our garden, and we don't get any daylight. The leaf fall is more than we can fit in all three wheelie bins every time it's raked.
I understand the trees are there for the people and I love trees. I'm not asking for it to be removed, just managed so it doesn't ruin our home.
Very quick to levy their taxes, but when you need something taking care if, they just don't care about ordinary working people...... Read more

Traffic wardens are a cash cow for the council.

Always had fantastic experience with the council as a whole, all departments are all fantastic, especially highway maintenance teams, all office staff and engineers very helpful and polite, friendly and chatty.

Phone number isn't working and offices only open mon - fri. Really helpful!!! Their "automated" phone system either disconnects you, does nothing, or just rings and rings instead of giving you an option to choose from. In other words, if you need to speak to someone and you work, forget it. It would seem councils only really bother with the sick, lame and lazy in this country!!... Read more

I am disabled and I am on the bin assistants were the bin men are supposed to collect the bin and empty then on specific days and after numerous calls to the council they now collect the bins and empty them But they do not put them back from were they collected them from instead leave them at the top of the drive. Also sometimes they do not bother to collect them to empty them.
I am sick and tired of calling to get things running smoothly once agen and I think I am being singled out due to my disability and I am thinking of looking at now bring in a private waste management team and sending the bill to the council for the clearance of my bin wast.

We too have just experienced the idiocies of the parking fine appeals procedure. A valid ticket was purchased and displayed. A warden who didn't bother to approach the vehicle closely issued a penalty notice, and took a photograph of the displayed ticket from an angle which ensured a small part of the ticket was obscured. We appealed, and the decision was found in favour of the warden and the fine was upheld. My advice: ensure that your tickets are displayed in a manner which even the Council cannot dispute, or stop using their car parks as they can't be trusted to operate them fairly.... Read more

We paid and displayed ticket and unfortunately half of the ticket had slided under another ticket! Still obviously showing that it’s the ticket from that car park! We came back a few minutes after and noticed we have been fined £50! Our day was ruied as this was unfair! We appealed scanning the ticket we paid for! Common-sense would say now we proved that we had paid! But these robots or better say thieves rejected our appeal simply because they lack enough common sense to think but enough power to rip people off!! I always find the staff at the council friendly, efficient and competent on the many times that I have needed to make contact over the 22 years I have lived in Beverley. This includes Planning, Business Rates, Safeguarding, Environmental services and Building Control.
The recycling staff at the local facility in Beverley are unfailingly helpful.
The reception and telephone staff are friendly and professional.
My bins are collected promptly, without spillage.
The leisure centres are excellent, clean and good value.

Quite possibly the most expensive and worst local authority in Yorkshire. Constantly reducing service whilst eve increasing rates. The rates are also probably so high because there are so many dinosaurs who have done nothing other than worked at this LA and sat in high paid pointless positions without ever improving anything the authority does. Having worked for these I can assure you there are a lot of people doing not a lot of work. I counted I had 7 managers before I reched the director.... Read more
