Very pleased with the support offered by the Gowland White team, all of whom were particularly helpful. Good communications throughout the viewings, and regular updates from the sales progression team as we went through the legal side. Since we moved out of the house we were selling a couple of months in advance of Completion, they also kept an eye on the property, with checks as required by our insurers. Would recommend!

No one could have been in a more vulnerable position than I was last year, when I became a landlord. Being inexperienced and living miles away, it was no surprise that I was very stressed and feeling bewildered. Not knowing anyone in the area, I had to rely on good reviews in choosing my letting agent. Now a year on, I am writing this review, motivated by wanting to help others who may be equally looking to hear about users' experience.
I am glad that I chose Gowland White. Their lettings manager Rob and his team have been superb in providing me with an excellent service. During the early pre-rental period there were many things that had to be attended to with the property. Because of my away location I had to rely on Rob and his team to sort out the issues for me. Soon everything was sorted in an efficient manner, the most stress free start that any landlord could have wished for. Similarly, because of the distance handicap, communication can only be by telephone calls and email. Again, Rob and his team have been fabulous with this, both in providing me with timely reports and also in dealing with my queries and messages promptly. Thank you Rob and team.

I used Gowland White as landlord's agent when I rented out a house in Yarm. From the start they were proactive and very helpful, making the setup, letting and management of the tenancy very smooth. They secured a first rate tenant for me within a very short time. Their fees were very reasonable. The company's personnel care about what they do; they want to help both tenant and landlord, and are effective and friendly when doing so. This is an extremely good company that can help you substantially if you're in the property game, and I highly recommend them.

We put our house up for sale with Gowland White in February and it failed to sell (we’ve now taken it off the market with Gowland White) despite the housing market in the last few months being the most buoyant in recent history. We were given no advice as to why this was, the only feedback we got seemed to be a tick box exercise of what the viewer thought. When we came to take our house off the market, I asked Gowland White why they believed it didn’t sell and they blamed the asking price... however they had not once mentioned that they thought the price was high in the previous 8 months that it was on the market and in any case, they valued the property and suggested this price in the first place.
We had an occasion where a viewer arrived on a different day to what was advised, which is annoying when you’re waiting around. Also, we were initially advised by Gowland White that due to COVID, we should only accept viewings that were proceedable, which we agreed was fair. However, Gowland White continued to arrange viewings from buyers that hadn’t even put their house on the market yet... just bizarre to give advice and then not follow it.
To add insult to injury, we’re now being charged a withdrawal fee of £120 as they couldn’t sell it. Granted this was in the original contract that I signed, I guess at the time I just thought they’d be able to sell it!!
All things taken into account, we’ve had quite a disappointing experience with Gowland White. If I could give you any advice, if you’re selling your house in Yarm choose an agent that has a social media presence (Roseberry Newhouse) or at least one with cheaper/no withdrawal fees (Michael Poole).

We rented a property that Gowland White was managing for the landlord in the 3 years we had to wait a year for a banister to be fitted ( which we were told by a tradesman was against the law not to have one)
6 months for a window to be fixed ( did not close property which led to a draft in the living room.
4 months for rising damp & mold in the kitchen, they didn't tell the landlord about the damp until we were moving out,
Then after moving out they are trying to deduct some of our bond because there is dust on the skirting board in the living room ( which since we left there has been work men fixing the damp ) also because the shower head was moldy,
If you are due to move into a property which is managed by this estate agents make sure to take pictures at the beginning and at the end of your tenancy

We instructed Gowland white to market our property after a comprehensive meeting with Chris White. We had a few quotes from other estate agents but his was by far the most informative , trustworthy and professional.
From the moment we signed up everything he promised happened. The details of the house and brochure were changed as we thought necessary. The photos were of top quality. Everyone in the office knew about the house , it’s selling points and were readily available to help any and every time we called.
We had Jodene as our point of sale and she was unbelievably helpful and always available.
Overall fantastic service , well worth giving them a call and it really did help take a bit of the stress out of moving.

We switched to Gowland & White after 6 months with poor service from another local Estate Agent. The contrast in the quality of service and the quantity of viewings was considerable. This led to a sale, which although was beset by problems, from elsewhere, they were handled with a professional and efficient manner by G&W staff. Throughout the process we were kept well informed by helpful and friendly staff. Their sound advice was always informed by a thorough and up to date knowledge of market trends and housing values. We cannot recommend them highly enough. Superb company to deal with.

We were looking for a rental property and saw one with Gowland White which we were interested in. Never having rented before we were guided through the process by Rob Hopkins who was extremely helpful, polite and efficient. He went above and beyond anything that we expected and assisted us to secure the property that we liked. He understood our position which helped and kept us informed at all stages of the process. It made a daunting process very simple.
If in the future we were either selling a property of renting I would have no hesitation in recommending both Rob Hopkins and Gowland White.

Having sold my property I came to Gowland White as a buyer. Jodene and her colleagues at Yarm couldn’t have been more helpful during this process. The level of service and care they provided was second to non, despite me not being their client as such.
They liased with both the seller and my solicitor and kept me informed of what was, or on occasions, what wasn’t happening!
At stressful time they were incredibly supportive and I would thoroughly recommend using them to anyone considering marketing their home. Without doubt the best Estate Agents I’ve had dealings with, either as a buyer or seller.

I would recommend Gowland and White to anybody, with the only caveat being to avoid their preferred solicitors 'Key Legal' at all costs, as we endured a very poor and stressful service from them.
