Rude, untrustworthy, and non-communicative. The lack of professionalism is astounding, but not a surprise. Richard H. is particularly rude with both sellers and buyers. As a company they follow their own interest not that of their clients. The customer service is practically inexistent. I would stay away from them.
Since I cannot comment on the response, I am happy to expand the review here:
1. The estate agents told us that the property will be available from 15of July and never informed us (! - till this day) that the property was let out till end of September.
2. Mr Richard H. was extremely rude tell me on the phone that I am lying about my ability to buy a property, even though they had they had direct information regarding my finances.
3. The property we wanted to buy went back on the market twice, and neither time we were extended the curtsey to be informed or asked about our availabilities (!).
The list can continues, but it is not worth it. Please stay away from them.
As for their actions as towards people selling the property, I am direct communications from some of their clients.
Always remember, while for you as a buyer and seller a £1k in more or less is a lot of money , but for them as a fee is and extra or a loss of £10-15. Always remember that they work for themselves, not for you. Mathematics doesn't lie, can't say the same about them though.

Estate agents that are not worth your time. They lack basic human interaction skills. They are utterly unprofessional and will follow their interest not yours, the client.
Their will not inform you on change of circumstances, they will not keep you updated on the state of the transaction. They will be rude when discussion other properties on the market and will literally lie to your face. The only thing you will get is a highly disappointing interaction. So save yourself the trouble.

Great experience using Halliwell Marks. From the outset Mark gave great and honest advice, was efficient and marketed to genuine buyers. Rachel dealt with our sales progression and I couldn’t recommend her more. We had quite a long chain and time constraints, she was so reassuring during a stressful time and was really proactive ensuring everyone in the chain remained on task. We saw a lot of agents in our chain who were disorganised and unresponsive but Rachel is a credit to Halliwell Marks and we’re incredibly grateful for all her hard work to ensure everything went to plan.

Very good experience using Halliwell Marks estate agents to sell our house. Richard was great with the initial valuation and gave us lots of valuable pre sale advice which helped us achieve a higher value than expected by other local agents. Rachel was excellent with the post sale detail and kept us informed as the sale progressed. Very helpful to have a dedicated person in the office to do this as communication is key in the buying and selling process.
In conclusion we achieved the sale price predicted by Richard and the sale was steered through by Rachel in record time. Would definately recommend.

Our viewing was with Mr Ryan Darragh. It was the 8th house we were viewing that Saturday, needless to say we were exhausted. Almost didn’t want to make it to the viewing but dragged ourselves to it cuz Ryan had already rebooked the viewing for us after we couldn’t make it the previous evening due to delays at work.
Ryan met us on the driveway and as he was opening the door to the house he said you’re going to be surprised at how deceptively large this house is. He was genuinely enthusiastic to show us the house and the enthusiasm caught onto us quickly. He took us through the little nuances in the house with so much excitement.
At the end of the viewing we did not want to see anymore houses. We felt like that was the place.
We are very grateful for the experience and believe Ryan deserves to know that he is exceptionally good at his job, more importantly it is evident that he loves what he does.

Faultless experience with Halliwell Marks who I used to sell my property in what can only be described as a challenging market. I believe a good Estate Agent is one that supports you through the entire selling journey and not just to the point of getting an offer. Great service from start to finish as agent for the sale of a flat. Duncan is great, keeps you up to date with regular check ins and advice on the state of the market. The real star of the show is Rachel who takes over once an offer has been accepted. She’s a proper legend, really hands on, understanding and empathetic, rolls her sleeves up and helps chase solicitors to get some progress and pragmatism from solicitors etc. It really felt like Rachel was a key component in expediting the sale when exchange and completion could easily have been delayed by solicitor inefficiency.

My home had been on the market for a few months with Purple Bricks, with plenty of viewings but no offers and the advice I was getting was that the price needed to be dropped. In stepped Halliwell Marks and after discussion we agreed that the price was right for the market, no reduction needed - 3 new viewings on the first weekend, with an offer on the Monday which led to a sale at the full asking price. I did my research of estate agents in Reigate when looking to market my property, Halliwell Marks stood out. After dealing with them for a few months, I can confirm I definitely made the right decision. Richard and David made a conscious effort to continue to keep me updated with the interest my property was getting, as well as realistic and not give me any false hope.

We had an unpleasant experience as serious buyers with this agent. Found the estate agent who showed us a property rude and used pressure selling. Also felt the manager put pressue on us telling us that if you get 7/10 in terms of what you want from a house you're doing well. Pleased we didn't listen and have happily since bought a house which is 10/10, at a lower price and in the same area!

We were rather disappointed by Richard's apparent lack of interest or empathy in engaging with us as potential clients when valuing our home, which seemed to be mainly because it's currently a home that's lived in rather than being up to "show home" quality. This stood out when compared with the other Reigate estate agents we "interviewed". We were also surprised that despite all the experience which he says he has of houses in the area, Richard admitted that he had to guess the value our home just because it has a larger garden than most others locally. Sorry Halliwell Marks but as you say yourselves, first impressions count, and for us they weren't that impressive.

Selling ones Mother’s house isn’t easy at the best of times but the team at Halliwell Marks made the process extremely smooth and as painless as possible. Having started with another estate agent we moved the property to Halliwell Marks after 2 months. Richard, Jo, Rachel and Hannah were faultless in their professionalism, guidance, knowledge and kindness. They work as a seamless team which you don’t often experience – it didn’t matter who picked up the phone they all knew who you were and what the situation with our property was at time. They all also knew everything that needed to be known about the property and area so it didn’t matter who did the viewings, every prospective buyer got the same viewing and information. Having been a bit doubtful at the onset as to whether an independent family estate agent was the best way to sell a house that was not being lived in I could not have been more wrong – I would recommend HM to anyone and everyone without hesitation – they have cornered the market with their unique ‘family’ style business approach which is both professional and friendly. Fantastic - the whole team were really helpful when I let my flat and then again when I went on to sell it. They were always on hand to help and did a lot of work to ensure the sale went through as quickly as possible. The letting is outsourced to another company but they were the best agents I had used in almost ten years of letting. I couldn't recommend Halliwell Marks highly enough.

A first class, professional approach from the outset. I would recommend Halliwell Marks without hesitation to anyone who wants an estate agency service which successfully manages to break the stigma of traditional estate agents of old and be both reassuring competent and refreshingly genuine in its approach. After some less than pleasing experiences with other estate agents in the area it was an absolute pleasure dealing with the whole team at Halliwell Marks. They were approachable, knowledgeable and always very welcoming in their office. We mainly dealt with Hannah who was very good at keeping you in the loop, finding out answers to our questions and generally being available.
They made the stress of buying a first house much easier to deal with and I would recommend them wholeheartedly. They also give you coffee if you pop into the office, which is always a plus!

Not only did they sell our house before it was on the market thanks to their local knowledge but they helped beyond the call of duty when the going got tough. Richard and the team have successfully found excellent tenants for our rental property over the last year and a half. They are extremely helpful and great people to deal with. We first put our house on the market after we moved to our current property in August 2011. We tried 2 local agencies but had no offers. We instructed Halliwell Marks in January 2014, they attracted 19 viewings to an open day on 1 February and we received 4 offers. We completed the sale on 29 March, just 2 months after the open day. The price we obtained was more than 10% higher than that expected in 2013.
Throughout the process, they acted professionally, with integrity and with calm authority during what was a highly emotional time. We have no hesitation in recommending them.
