My husband and I needed to make completely new Wills,due to a change in our circumstances. After reading lots of reveiws about solicitors local to Chelmsford,I chose Leonard Gray. The Receptionist was very helpful and explained that the solicitor we needed to see was Sigourney Rutkowski and an appointment was made. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and the atmosphere was friendly,but professional. Sigourney herself turned out to be and absolutely delightful young woman,friendly and personable. She explained the whole process to us very clearly and advised us as to the best course of action when we explained our various needs and wishes. Only a week later we received the new Wills through the post and at our next appointment these were reviewed and signed by us in front of the witness supplied by the solicitors.
Sigourney made the whole process very easy for us,nothing was too much trouble and the service was quite exceptional. We would recommend Leonard Gray LLP Solicitors and particularly SIgourney,without a moment's hesitation. Should the need arise in the future,we would not hesitate to return.

As much as there can be a 'positive experience' when dealing with a divorce, Leonard Gray and in particular Sarah made the process as painless as it could be. The term you get what you pay for is none more so relevant then when dealing with Leonard Gray - the process was kept factual, my situation felt understood and ultimately I got an end result that was as best as it could be.

My parents first used this firm of solicitors over 75 years ago. I grew up knowing the name and thought they they were the only solicitors in the world before I was able to understand what they did. My family always found them very helpful and straightforward in all that they did.
My brother used them all his adult life.
We have used them throughout our married lives (6o years now)
Because of our satisfaction, one of our sons who lives locally, also uses them.
Yes, we would all recommend Leonard Gray in any capacity -
they know their stuff and we wouldn't go anywhere else.

If your a first time buyer, I’d be careful of paying the retainer unless you have a mortgage offer in place first. We was in the progress of getting a mortgage offer until it was declined. But already paying the Solictors £350 retainer then they wrote out the contracts on our behalf, over 1/2 weeks after the purchase did not go ahead this solicitor charged us £910 for half the work non completed. It was quite a shock. Just want to warn others before parting with money make sure you have done your research beforehand.
No wonder Solictors make so much money.. do not think this is treating customers fairly in line with FCA & TCF guidelines but oh well.. on to the next one

Arrogant and complacent on both occasions.
Moved the handling of a divorce from them, they were expensive gave bad advice.
On another occasion used them for a house purchase and they were slow rude and unprofessional. Nearly cost us our purchase because of complacency. Seem to rely on an established name rather than the quality of their work.

Nearly lost a property purchase when the member of staff dealing with it went on holiday without telling us she wasn’t going to be there to finish things. Mortgage offer finished while she was away. Arrogant overpriced and over rated.

If you the “client” are on a deadline or expect the sales process to be completed in a “timely manner” then AVOID! My parents were selling their house to a Leonard Gray client. Their client was a cash buyer, my parents had “no chain” At week 8 their client hadn’t been informed of ANY progress, no communication - not even the property inventory nothing! Their client contacted my parents, called to my parents house found out what items were staying in the property from my parents, totally upset with complete lack of communication from Leonard Gray, upset by the way in which “he the client” was NOT being treated. The clients solicitor working from home and then when suppose to be in the office was not, NO communication. Went in to sign as agreed with his solicitor to exchange to find solicitor not in! Told to come back the next day - still not in! At which point another solicitor completes exchange on behalf of missing solicitor - complete lack of communication with the sellers solicitor. Estate agents who sold the house chased Leonard Gary for both parties, my parents solicitor blue in the face from sheer trying to progress the sale to be met with “Nothing” I contacted from overseas spoke with Leonard gray complaints manager and only at this point did the wheel start turning but to be told completion wouldn’t take place for another 3 weeks ! At no point could I speak to the client solicitor - met with a constant voicemail message. Leonard Gray were waiting on nothing, one search that they were waiting on they received on 31st October, - the week before my phone call, I asked why 3 weeks you are waiting on nothing! Sale eventually closed on 30th November… 3 weeks later!

This is the worst experience we’ve ever had with a solicitor. We haven’t directly employed Leonard Gray, but we have had to break our chain and find temporary accommodation due to their delays.
They disappear of the face of the earth for weeks on end, and despite numerous requests from the estate agent and their client, they will not provide anything in the way of an update.
The solicitor dealing with the sale heads up the conveyancing department, so you can only assume that this attitude is top-down. I would avoid Leonard Gray at all costs.

I did not use them personally, but bottom of the chain did. This is the worse experience i have ever had with a solicitor. They missed all deadlines for exchange because they kept raising last minute futile queries to the lender. They are also not reachable at all and no clear communications/proactiveness on updates. Avoid them

I rang up a few times, no one was answering the phone.
They posted the ad at 11am on right move, and answered my phone at 2pm, and sent me a virtual tour video at 4, I got back to them at 4:45 said I am very interested in viewing the property and they said it's all fulled booked. No logic and I wasted my whote day chasing after them.
what a waste of time.
I certainly will not recommend their service.

Andy and Kate @ LG Estate Agents were, put simply; superb. They dealt with us and the viewers of our house in an engaged, human, professional and COVID-aware manner and when we got to the last stages of the sale going through, were always supportive, calm and responsive.
Believe me, trying to sell a home in pandemic times is not the easiest thing to do and to have a team there to assist in any ways requested is at least part of what you are paying for! You don't have to like the people you engage to sell your home to strangers; but it helps when they are funny, compassionate and yes, caring.
They were a great team and achieved a price over £40k more than a rival local Estate Agents suggested we market our home for, and we could not be more pleased with their service.
I have no hesitation or doubts when I say that, if you decide to engage them to sell your home; you'll not be disappointed. We weren't and, had we not moved to Lincolnshire; we'd happily use them again!

We used Leonard Gray Estate agents recently to sell our house. We had used several well known and locally respected agents prior to signing a contract with Leonard Gray and had been left unimpressed by the calibre of viewers they were sending round or their complete lack of effort in following up for feedback. This cannot be said for Kate and Andy at Leonard Gray however. They were very realistic about what we could achieve. Kate did most of the handling of our sale and I cannot fault the effort she put in, particularly after we had an offer made. The process was not straight forward and we had a slow buyer, but she maintained the pressure in an incredibly professional and courteous way, and liaised regularly with us and our solicitor. My solicitor commented on how much easier the process was made with Kate's involvement as a LOT of chasing was required trying to finalise things. Cannot recommend them more and wouldn't hesitate to use them in future should we decide to move.

My experience of Mr. Richard Randall was that he was biased, arrogant, flippant and unprofessional. Heavily biased towards my ex-husband leaving me vulnerable emotionally and mentally after mediation and financially vulnerable within my divorce, having made shocking and worrying suggestions as to how to settle financially. My subsequent complaint met with similar arrogance and flippancy. Divorce settled eventually through solicitors, who, thankfully, acted with my best interests at heart. Only awarding one star as no option for no stars.

I will not be able to name the persons with whom I had to deal with, other than to say ( I have never in my business life dealt with so many incompetent people. ) I could write a very long reason why I would NEVER recommend them to any one. I would need to disclose many very personal facts which I will not be doing.
I'm sure they could show you many people who enjoyed the service they received from Leonard Gray, but I'm not interested in them.
