Martin & Co is the best property agency I have come across in Banbury. David the manager always goes the extra mile for his clients with an excellent customer service!
I was trying to rent my property with Martin & Co
but I rented the property to a family member. It happened that they were looking to rent a house as I was looking for a tenant.
I would recomend this agency to anyone!

I will never use this agency again! Never been treated in such a way by a letting agent or land lord in my life. Just decided because they haven't increased the rent for a year they want to increase by 14% an increase in £125 a month or I must move out and have been served a section 25. Not a chance to negotiate a higher reasonable rate, no customer service at all, but apparently a renter isn't a customer, we are just a commodity that can be abused. As a renter I feel so let down by the system, and made to feel like paying the rent in time, looking after the property, just isn't appreciated.

Please avoid Martin and co Banbury at all costs if you’re looking to rent or buy a property from them. They are only in for the money and will try and steal your deposit at the end of your tenancy.

If I could I would have given 10/10 due to Martin & co going above and beyond to find us a house. david manager is just the nicest of people we have ever met and anything we needed sorting was sorted quickly and problem free. Our landlord was also very nice and a lovely gentleman well all the staff at Martin & co have always been very helpful David manager, when we locked ourself out came out on day of to let us in which was so nice and never even charged us a penny like most agencies would we had our deposit paid back within a week which is fantastic and helpful and the rent repaid fast when new tenants moved in we have never had to make a complaint or ask more then twice about anything they're very professional easy going and fast working and on time which is a bonus we are sorry to say bye but needed a bigger property due to growing family or would have stayed would definitely go back to Martin &co in the future though If we ever needed to so happy with the service we received and will recommend to anyone ??

In the past I have had issues with communication and rude staff.
Since lockdown, however, and what seems like some staff changes, there has been an incredible improvement. Kudos to the director, David, for working flat out and making sure things are dealt with! We have no complaints and are planning to stay with Martin and Co for another year!

A contentious problem that is currently ongoing is the unbearable musty, damp stink of the flat I am renting from Martin&Co.
The smell is clearly within the walls of the flat; there is evidence on the walls of discolouration, the wall-paper is beginning to separate from the walls.
The landlord clearly doesn't care for the property because his idea of decorating is to paint over wallpaper which then starts to peel away, a bit like you'd find in a cheap hotel where the finish looks appalling and in this case STINKS, too.
I paste a direct quote from Martin&Co regarding this issue:
"The last tenant vacated the flat on the 19th of July
From experience on other properties where there is void period between tenancies there could be odour that comes from lack of ventilation while the property is locked up and unused – this is common and easily solved once tenant move in and occupy the property
We have had some adverse weather, hot and cold and this could also contribute to the issue"
No amount of airing will get rid of the smell in this flat, I know because I go in to the flat daily, I open all windows, I even have to leave the door open because of the smell.
I have spent hours there cleaning the property, preparing it to be lived in, and for hours it has been aired. On the day I viewed the property it was getting a thorough airing because there was no door on it!
The point i'm making is that this property has not been closed up for months or even weeks, it has been getting aired.
I have even had a dehumidifier on for a full day and night and the smell still remains.
But what made me laugh with utter frustration and disbelief was the line from the agent about there being " some adverse weather, hot and cold and this could also contribute to the issue"
Fact check: in the week leading up to me taking possession of the flat there had been a heat-wave, the following week when I got the key/s to the flat there was some precipitation but also some settled periods, none of it was cold, it was August for goodness sake and even if there was some adverse weather, is the agent suggesting that the flat is not weather proof and that it is likely to let in the weather, causing damp perhaps?
Do yourself a favour people and avoid this agency, PLEASE.

Me and my partner viewed a property with martin &co when we arrived David was extremely helpful looking round pointing out all of the benefits with the property and making sure this is the one for us. David is very honest and I would recommend using martin & co everytime someone is looking for honesty and professionalism when looking for a new home. Cant wait to move into our next home. ????

I supported my brother in leasing a property through Martin and co. My brother has additional needs. When covid-19 hit with all the associated social distancing needs, and it came the time for my brother to move into a social housing property (he had been on a list for for long time)... things looked pretty bleak and difficult as his usual support network were physically unable to help due to government guidelines. Martin and co stepped up, and supported my brother with ensuring the property was left at a standard that would have been left in- if his normal network had been around to help him with this. They absolutely went above and beyond their normal processes during this unprecedented time to support someone who was vulnerable.
David was particularly supportive, thinking outside the box during these times and doing whatever he could professionally (and even more wonderfully) personally to help. This will not be forgotten.
Also a heads up to Marcia. From day one has been massively supportive. Thank you Marcia.
Thank you Martin and co for making a very difficult time for lots including my brother, more bearable with your kindness and compassion.

Well once I had case about my overflooded bathroom for about 2 months so the mold on the wall was growing mold on itself. Even cherwell was useless cuz they fight one with another leaving me with the problem alone.
Than my property been moved to different agent I've send my rent by mistake to martinco as I still had thier bank account and guess what... I rang them to return it to me and they were fine but instead of that they proceed my money to my landlord and I got whatever was left so 100 pounds less from whole ammount as they charged me fees illegaly for property they dont deal with for last half year plus I had to pay another rent to current agents.

My buyer’s had to move by a specific date, their solicitor named JS Law were pretty useless and lied saying they were ready to exchange contracts when they weren’t, so David Stone drove and took documents they wanted so my sale wouldn’t fall through. Thank you David!

After a positive experience with David and the team in the lettings department we would recommend Martin & co in Banbury. The team were extremely helpful putting the property on the market and sorting things out for us we weren’t local to the area. All in all a good experience from beginning to end. Obvious fake 1 post only positive reviews, if you're a tenant check out some genuine reviews on line about this unethical shower. They seem friendly enough at first, if not a little inept. What follows is nothing but problems, incompetence, invasions of privacy and a lack of the very basics you should expect. Not forgetting the thinly disguised theft at the end of your tenancy. AVOID at all costs.

I have Never written a review before...but decided I would as the agency went above and beyond to protect my property. It was left after one year in poor condition and fought long and hard to first restore the property and. Then won the claim. Thank you. ..I expect the awful tenant to write how upset he is to have to put my house back together after his damage ...when I joined Martin and co. They said they would look after my home as best they can. They also said they would offer tenants as much help and support possible To enjoy there stay. But they do expect the rent paid and property returned in same condition . I felt this was fair a reasonable. They were friendly throughout ...the new tenants are in and really love it there I’m told. Great...

Very helpful bunch. I heard some bad stories of the past from my friends.. I am stubborn as they come so when looking I found one property I just really wanted to see and decided to bit the bullet and give them a call. Sooooo... glad I did! Peter whom met me and my partner on the viewing was very honest and helpful. I decided to make an offer. Marcia took forward my application whom explained everything. I moved last week, ok still haven't fully unpacked but its getting there.

Avoid at all costs!
We haven't even had the "pleasure" to meet these people in person! And they already managed to hugely disappoint.
We wanted to view a flat in Banbury and called to make an appointment with the agent. The man was very hostile over the phone, said that the landlord wants someone sooner than our move date (more than 1 month away), which I can appreciate, but he said he'll show us the place anyway. He took my details, name, telephone, budget,etc.
The alarm bells went, when on the day of the viewing, we didn't hear anything from the agency. I had to make another phone call and didn't get through to the branch, but a receptionist. They at least gave me the full post code of the property and ensured me that someone will get back to me.
Well no one did! We arrived at the location, and through process of elimination found the correct door number. I'd like to add that we studied all the pictures closely and looks like some of them were of different flats from the same street. ( The giveaway was a window view and parked car in one of the photos.)
We called again... No answer, so we were transferred to the receptionist. Again... We explained our situation and they suggested the same solution- we will get the agent to call you. But why would they if they haven't done that for the past hour?
After waiting another 30 minutes, we just drove off. No one EVER called back to apologize, rectify situation, nothing!
Let the other reviews be a warning too.

The worst Estate agent in Banbury, a thoroughly unpleasant service from start to finish.
Overpriced like all Estate Agents but Martin and Co Banburys speciality was copied and pasted paperwork that was untidy and unkempt. You get the impression the office staff do nothing a day for the gratuitous fees charged.
The office is a tacky mess. The staff are just as rude if you walk in off the street as if you make an appointment.
We heard nothing from them after we'd paid our fees and deposit. Even then, we lost holiday from work as the property was not ready for the arranged date. There was no apology and an unwillingness to be flexible at the end of the tenancy. Disgraceful behaviour.
We were offered a long term tenancy but this was a lie. The tenancy only lasted one year for no reason whatsoever. No complaints were made to us and the only notice we received the tenancy was to end was a letter in the post. It has now become obvious that this was a short term let all along and we were lied to by an unscrupulous landlord and agent.
The service is the poorest I have ever received. The member of staff who was the most unpleasant was Nicola Halfpenny. After a year of dreadful service in a flat we maintained ourselves, she was unapologetic and rude. I will be circulating this review on nunerous platforms for future potential employers to see.
We received no reasons for the ending of the tenancy and no assistance in finding elsewhere. They also refused to honour the 2 days we were late moving in by due to their own incompetence.
Martin and Co already has a poor reputation in Banbury and we will be making a further complaint to head office for the two month wait receiving our deposit after moving out. Avoid at all costs.

After using an agent who was useless to sell my house, Martin & Co were a breath of fresh air! The house sold quickly for the asking price, and when the buyer started to play games David Stone went into bat for me and got things back on track. All the staff are professional, friendly and on the ball. As a team they have your back. Would use again without hesitation.

Seriously, I can not believe these reviews are genuine. From talking to a stranger in a bank to other professionals within the same business Martin and Co Banbury have a truly and well earned shocking reputation. They lie, cheat and steal. I too won't hesitate in reporting them to their head office and anyone else who may listen. Completely unprofessional but they don't care!

Martin and Co were genuinely superb. We dealt with Tom and Lu. Both were incredible. Lovely, supportive professionals who kept us in the loop about anything and everything with regards to the sale of our flat. When the time comes, I would happily sell my next property with Martin and Co again. They seemed to know more about the process than our solicitors who were not great. But Martin and Co have been excellent.

I have purchased a one bed flat through Tom at Martin and Co. He could not have been more helpful throughout the entire process. I had some issues selling my previous property (which was nothing to do with martin and Co) and he went out of his way to help me resolve them, had he not done so my sale easily could have fallen through.
He thoroughly explained processes which helped me make informed decisions and understand rather than just being told that was how it was.
He replied to all of my emails within the hour even if he did not have an answer just to let me know he was looking into it for me.
I recommend, Tom, and Martin and Co very highly and would certainly use them in the future. Although I ran into difficulties selling and buying as usually occurs, I received an honest opinion and was supported throughout the whole process.

I have just completed on a sale which was handled by Tom Mizen and his hard working team. Their conduct and professionalism through out has been exceptional. All dealings have been open and honest and I have been kept informed through all stages of the process from negotiations, through conveyancing to completion.

We have used Martin & Co for around 8 years now to let our apartment in Banbury. in all this time we have never had a month without a tenant and although problems have been rare when they have occurred they have been very swiftly and efficiently dealt with. We have just recently sold our house with Martin and Co and received excellent service from them. From the minute we contacted their office they had a potential buyer lined up and our house was pretty much sold before they had even posted the advert! Throughout the whole experience which was made quite complicated by other members of the chain, they were always willing to help and act as go betweens to speed the process on. Lu kept us informed every step of the way and often did the job of other estate agents to make sure everybody in the chain knew where they stood. On the one occasion we had any concerns, David the manager was extremely approachable and supportive and immediately set out to resolve the problem to a very satisfactory conclusion. We would strongly recommend using Martin and Co for a personal, understanding approach to what could otherwise be a very stressful time.
