I wish I could give no stars.
They just don’t leave you alone we had a representative come out months ago to then find out he had left or been sacked so we didn’t fellow up. They then hounded me with phone calls constantly after countless times of telling them to stop , and when you tell them to stop bloody calling they get really angry with you. Just had a full blown argument with some member of staff who felt brave today accusing me of raising my voice. Raised my voice ? I’m the client, very silly individual. The most disgusting customer service and useless company. Do yourself a favour and stay well away from them.

A Company of Disappointment
This agency is extremely unprofessional and shows no care for its tenants. The maintenance team is terrible – our bedroom ceiling and walls had mold, even after they claim to have cleaned it. We were given a broken bed that hasn’t been replaced, causing back issues. The hot water taps have no water in them. It took them three weeks to provide an inventory and to book a plumber, despite constant reminders. They didn’t clean the house before we moved in, only doing so after we were already there. After years of renting, this has been our worst experience.
The landlord is very unresponsive too.

Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the sales approach given by chancellors in my purchase through them. It consisted of sales bulls..t, which was intensely irritating, an inaccurate representation of the property freehold status which caused big delays, followed by oppressive, devisive communications.
Not all bad of course, because the team were helpful when help was needed, to get this purchase secured.

I called this company 2 weeks ago to enquire about a property. It took me several attempts to even get through to someone. Eventually after someone finally picked up the agent was clueless. He didn’t even know the property I was enquiring about. This was despite giving him a property reference from their own website!
Unfortunately yesterday things didn’t improve. I am a chain free buyer looking to purchase a home immediately. I called to book viewings on 2 properties and experienced the same issue trying to make contact. Eventually I got through, but was informed that due to them being extremely busy it wouldn’t be possible to see any properties for 8 days! Despite informing them of my position, they were very disinterested. I was told to ‘keep trying to call them each day and maybe there will be a cancellation’!
I could understand a little if the property market was boyant, however it is clear to see on Rightmove/Zoopla the majority of homes have been listed for several months. Many of these have also been subsequently reduced. This was the case for both properties we were interested in.
By contrast, I contacted 2 other Agents who arranged viewings for me within 24 hours. We have today subsequently made an offer on one of them which we hope will be accepted imminently.
So if you are selling a property, as a buyer I am extremely unimpressed with Chancellors. They clearly don’t have the staff to market your property properly, plus it doesn’t bode well for how they will be throughout the sales process. This is what ultimately made us discount both homes. I would therefore give them a miss!

Extremely poor communications from the Letting side. I have called multiple times over the past two weeks regarding multiple properties to rent, I unfortunately never get through to the Letting department and received many false promises of call backs that never happen. I have been in communications with several other Lettings agencies across Banbury and this by far has the worst communications. I wouldn’t bother, there are far more organised letting agents in the area.

Very disappointed. I applied for a rental property and received a call straight away to book in for a viewing, which was great. I received a confirmation email for the online viewing but no details of a video link. In the days leading up to the appointment, I called and emailed multiple times to no avail. By the time the appointment should have happened, I still had not heard anything and nobody answered the phones, the viewing did not go ahead, but I received a link to leave a review, so here we are. While I appreciate estate agents are busy and they may have had more than enough interest for the property, it is rude to disrespect someone else's time in such a way. If you cannot honour an appointment, have the courtesy to cancel it.

Awful experience. Applied for 4 properties to rent. 3 applications I haven’t even had a reply from iulia to say they received them. Every time I call I get out through to head office. Once they even hung up straight after picking up. The property we did apply for they didn’t even tell us we got declined we have to chase for an update. Not even an email. Go to Scott Fraser in headington they will give you constant updates and get you a place to stay. Chancellors are awful.

Amarjit and Matt are fantastic and this review would be 5 stars BUT....they have been let down massively by their solicitor referral scheme, Chancellors recommended possibly the worst solicitors I have ever known who were impossible to deal with, and delayed the sale by months due to incompetence, ignoring calls, emails and not reading information given to them by the relevant parties involved. Also, extremely disappointed by Chancellors 'sales progression team' who have no idea what is going on and just add confusion to the whole process.

They took the deposit and we agreed on everything hence even terminated our existing tenancy back in May. 1 week before move in date they told us they need to delay the move in date for 3 weeks and we accepted. While we were waiting for our move in, 3 days before the move in they delayed the move in again, this time without even giving a new target date. In the meantime we stayed in Airbnb which costs quite more than monthly rent and Chancellors didn’t supported with anything. The place they took deposit for is still on Rightmove and I am sure they did exactly same thing to some other people as well. Never ever ever work with Chancellors!

The worst experience for renting a property!! Sam - the Sales agent was amazing and was able to arrange for my mother to rent the property instead, however, the lettings team were dreadful. They did nothing for 3 weeks, phoned 3 days before the move to say we may not have the contract for the day of the intended move (from France - which was not able to be delayed!!) and indeed we did not have a contract until 3 days after the intended move date! Thankfully we had a wonderful landlord who allowed us to 'drop and store' the furniture in the property and my mother was able to stay with my sister - but not the best experience for my mum especially 5 weeks after she lost her husband (our father). There was no real apology and certainly no-one cared!
They did not advise the landlord or arrange all the necessary safety checks/certificates in time and indeed we are still waiting for the EIC (a legal requirement) and were told by Chancellors not to plug anything in until this was carried out!!!! How can an 81 year old woman live in an all electric flat and not plug anything in!
They never answer the phone at the Banbury office and we have now been phoned by the landlord as he has still not received his rent - 6 days after it was paid and 4 days after the tenancy has started.
Dreadful, dreadful, dreadful. Find another agent if you can.

I am trying to find a house to let and found out the personnel working here is so rude, and have zero respect towards customers. Major delays in responses via email. They have a habbit of hanging up the phone mid sentence and won't let the customer talk. I have been to so many places like this but i have never been disrespected as much. Very keen at the start but don't expect any reassurance if you face delays or any communication at all. Considering my sale was bottom of the chain, I had more information, communication and reassurance from the estate agents above me and wish my fee could have gone to them. We had a 4 week delay and in that time I heard nothing from Chancellors to assure me my buyer was still interested, regardless of my communication to them, I heard nothing! I got a half hearted lame congratulations call once everything had completed but at that point I wasn't interested. Poor customer service, never felt like their client just an inconvenience. Would not use again!

I called asking for detail about a flat - they took my contact details and assured me it wouldn't be used for promotional purposes.
One day later I get a promotional email and they still (over a week later) haven't bothered to send me the very basic details I asked for about the flat.
So, if you want to sell a flat with these guys: you should probably be aware that they're, seemingly, not particularly good at sending potential buyers the basic information they need.
If you want to buy a flat through them: you should probably be aware that they, seemingly, don't adhere to the laws around promotional marketing - which is meant to be based on the explicit consent of those who are involved

Their business model for advertising properties for sale is, go see the seller and convince them they can sell the house for a higher price than other estate agents as they have sold a lot in the area, win the business and then just a week and half later, get a team manager from the head office in Bracknell to lower the price as there are not enough viewings and it keeps going on and on. Don't be fooled by their proactiveness and speed to get you on the market, that's literally all they care about (The 1 star is for that). You will only get viewers who are never interested to spend anything close to what you have advertised it for, ending in receiving constant feedback from viewers saying 'They feel they could secure a property larger than your's at a better price'.
To top it all off, they managed to loose hold of our only buyer, who gave an offer, which we eventually accepted (on the same day) and we were being mis-guided by saying they couldn't get hold of the buyer, whereas we found out that Chancellors never followed up with our buyer, so he ended up buying few other properties, being an investor.
14 weeks into a 16 week contract with them, I felt this was just a waste of time and lodged a complaint with their Directors and to their head office and requested to stop all services for us, which they did eventually after another few round of email pestering. It has been more than 2 weeks now and I haven't heard anything back anything regarding the complaint, except for a complaint acknowledgement email and the head office saying they are 'investigating' call records.
Unless you have lots of time to spare and don't mind dressing up your house for viewers who will never make you an offer near to your asking price, as they are never intending to buy a house around that price, which I believe none of you would been keen on, stay away from them. Absolute cons!
PS: To put a contrast into the whole aspect, we ended up going with Bairstow Eves and they sold our house for 99% of the asking price and in just the third viewing. This is how quick things could have been done!

I have asked them repeatedly to stop calling me and they just continue to do so. They are unethical in their practices and a total nuisance. I would never ever use them based on my experience

I emailed Chancellor's to ask if they would like to market my property in Banbury as the current company namely Connells has the property for 3 weeks but didn't respond to my emails. (I live in South Africa)
Mr Richard Chaudry came back to me within the hour and he told me he would love to help me find a tenant.
He went out of his way to get the keys back from Connell's who actually didn't know where or at which Branch they were and the 2 Agents who were supposed to be arranging people to view were both on leave.
Once we had located the keys Richard drove for an hour to get them and he immediately arranged for professional photos to be done.
The property was on Chancellor's web side for 24 hours (2 viewings later) and I was told I had a new tenant.
Richard you went above and beyond and you made what seemed like an impossible task appear part of a normal routine for Chancellor's and yourself.
I cant thank you enough for everything you did without hesitation, professional service like this which exceeds one's expectation is hard to find.

The most useless estate agent in Banbury by far.....no matter how many times I tell them I am in meetings and cannot take phone calls they insist on phoning and leaving voicemail.
Not only this I send them lists of dates and time and ask them to email me availability / confirmation....voicemail .... "hi please call us back".
Why anyone would pay them is beyond me, they are nothing more than a glorified call center. Use Purple Bricks or anyone else. No wonder they struggle to close sales.

We recently purchased a house in Banbury through Chancellors, with Harry Adams as the sales negotiator. Overall, we were impressed with how quick and painless the whole process was. We exchanged and completed within the month and a half deadline we proposed at the outset.
Harry and the others in the Chancellors office were quick in getting our questions answered by the vendors. Harry was always very prompt in replying to our emails and phone calls throughout. His responsiveness was greatly appreciated as this was our first time to purchase a house (and neither of us are from the UK).
There was only one part of the purchase that we feel could have been improved on – when we arrived for our first viewing we were given a rather cursory tour, and the agent couldn’t give us many specific about the neighbourhood, dates/extent of recent repairs and other important details. However it may well be because our viewing was quite last-minute.
In short, we sold ourselves this home while Chancellors served as the able messenger between the two parties. They were very polite and professional throughout.

From the initial professional meeting with Emily at Chancellors when putting our house on the market to the final exchange of contracts Chancellors have kept us informed and have been helpful all the way. We sold within a month at a price we were extremely happy with. A special mention and a big thank you must go to Harry Adams. He worked very hard in dealing with the various solicitors and estate agents in our chain in order to achieve a successful exchange of contracts within a deadline. He kept us informed regularly, was easy to contact and was honest and professional throughout.

I can't recommend Chancellors at Banbury highly enough. They have been great over the last few years with helping me rent my property out. I have recently had to sell it and the whole office have been wonderful. I have just bought a home in Banbury which was marketed by Chancellors. The property had just come back on the market and the agent (Michelle?) was able to get us a viewing at very short notice. Once we had put our offer in, Harry was on hand every step of the way until completion. He did an awful lot of chasing solicitors in the chain and was very quick to respond to any queries we had. Harry himself was able to hand over the keys to us upon completion this Tuesday and we could thank him in person for all his hard work.

I originally placed my property for sale with another estate agent in Banbury and after 12 months my village property remained unsold; though to be fair I had accepted one offer after about 10 months had elapsed, but my buyers pulled out after some 7 weeks.
Thereafter I decided to change agents and put the sale of my property with Chancellors of Banbury. From memory that was at the end of March 2014.
The initial dialogue I had was with the Manager, Matt Burn, who said and did all the right things in getting my property ready for sale, including sending over a professional photographer for all the internal and external shots.
Emily Rattigan took the lead in undertaking viewings which she did herself, even though I was actually in the house (I was politely asked to go out for the duration of each viewing).
In about 4 weeks Emily had secured a buyer for me and I completed on the sale of my property in mid Aug 2014, which was about 4 months from the initial switch to Chancellors and, of course, that included all the legal work ahead of completion.
Whenever I spoke with Emily, either on the phone or face-to-face, she came across as a very professional person. Well spoken and with a good eye for detail. Whenever she had to chase something up she did so with some urgency then always made sure that either herself, or one of her colleagues, gave me an update of the outcome.
I had a pleasant experience dealing with Chancellors of Banbury in terms of selling my property, which was made all the better by Emily's professional attitude and sales experience. I therefore have no hesitation in recommending her for any future promotion Chancellors may be considering for her.

Choosing Chancellors to find us a home in Banbury was the best choice we could make with my partner. We've had to move in quite quick and we were looking for a flat which we could bring our cat in. We got in contact with Angie Raven and she's been really helpful with us from the very beginning. She has offered us a property that was just nearly available at that moment so there were not any pictures or description about it, we thought we want to take a look at it anyway and we are so happy we did. We made the best choice as the flat is really lovely as well as its location, the neighborhood is beautiful too. Angie helped us a lot with the administration and with much more things so we are very thankful to her. And I have to mention our landlord is really kind and friendly too, so I think we are very lucky.

Finding a new home in Bloxham from the Netherlands was never going to be easy. Having enlisted with 15+ agencies and getting very little useful results we were already starting to wonder if we would ever find the right place. But Angie has done a fantastic job in finding us the perfect home to start our UK adventure.
Angie also has been more than excellent in helping us with all the details regarding setting up the tenancy. During the turmoil of our international relocation Angie has proven to be both reliable and reassuring.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Angie Raven whilst searching for rented accommodation in Banbury. She has listened to my requirements, given expert advice on matters and has kept in contact with me at all times to advise she is still searching for a property.
I dont usually have much faith in Estate/letting agents as I you never seem to be thought about when a property comes on the market - just a another person as it were.
Angie is confident and reassuring and has a genuine calming affect when it all seemed to get too much.
I have every confidence and faith in Angie's abilities it's just shame not all individuals withing the estate Agency world have the same work ethos.
