The whole process was made exceptionally easy by this really friendly team. From the moment of the valuation visit I knew they were right for the job. Everything was explained clearly and I had real confidence which put my mind at ease given it was the sale of my mums house after she was moved into a care home.
Emails were always answered quickly, usually within a matter of minutes, which was great given I live over 90 miles away from the property being sold.
Could not recommend Martin Thornton and the team highly enough and would definitely use them again if I was selling a property in the Huddersfield area.

The service we received from Martin Thornton and Co was excellent from start to finish and I can't recommend them highly enough. The property was marketed very quickly with great photos and we promptly accepted an offer at a very reasonable price. The communication we received throughout the process was first rate. A special mention should be given to Ava who was relentless in chasing all relevant parties to progress the matter through to completion and we always felt reassured that she was doing everything possible to help us achieve our goals. Would not recommend - I called as a new customer to enquire about organising a valuation of my property and the girl on the phone insisted she needed to take two phone numbers from me to move my enquiry forward. I only have the one phone number, live alone, and don't have another number to give - quite a ridiculous insistence really, and she was not listening. If it's really "required" by the system then just put 123, or repeat the first number? Never had this trouble with other estate agents.

I'd never sold a house before and it was quite hard to decide which agency to use. Stephen was the only agent who actively addressed negative as well as positive questions at the valuation, which impressed us. Bailie has been communicative and helpful throughout, both on the phone and by email, and Ava and other colleagues have always been friendly and helpful when he wasn't available. They were also very patient dealing with all my questions. Their systems seem set up well to deliver a great service and they've been a pleasure to deal with. I can only heap praise on this agent as from day one they controlled the whole process of selling my house, they advertised well and kept me informed at all stages of the sale, Ava was very professional and knowledgeable in her role if there was an issue she did not know about there was no guesses she went away and found out the details required and brought it back to me, The sale of the house was not straight forward with issues from the past causing problems with the sale late in the process, Sam picked the problem up and took the time to research similar issues and bring a solution to the table.

Disappointed in this agency and its service. We arranged an appointment to view a property at Lindley park and when I met with the young man (Zac) he was very warm and polite , he made insinuating remarks about our home of origin but otherwise very friendly, when I asked for an application for the property on the phone with the office they confirmed details but never emailed me, called a second time and a completely different person said they already had submitted application for the property but would mention my name, this very informal approach was incredibly unprofessional, "mentioning my name " and not knowing who I was reeked of a dismissive attitude that pointed towards incompetence. Incredibly unfortunate.

Elisha and the team were incredibly quick to respond to any queries we had and when the sale hit a stumbling block Elisha went over and above to ensure the sale progressed quickly, while satisfying all parties. I could not recommend them enough.

Used Martin Thorntons again to sell another property, again excellent service from Elisha and the team, special circumstances meant sale couldn't be undertaken immediately, no pressure to sell or undue stress from the team, in fact the opposite went out of their way to ensure a stress free sale as possible and assisting wherever they could.

A very professional company. Martin came round and gave a very honest appraisal of the market and what sort of price the house could potentially sell for. He also made some excellent points about how the property should be priced in order to achieve the greatest amount of interest and "clicks" from potential buyers. The photographer was also superb, taking excellent images of the property, showing it off in its best light. The office staff are also outstanding. Elisha is an extremely knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic sales negotiator who was able to communicate effectively with potential buyers, and then later with the actual buyers, keeping all parties informed of the different stages of the conveyancing process. The other staff in the office are also excellent, displaying a very high level of customer service. As a result, my house sold very quickly for over the asking price and the transaction went extremely smoothly. I believe this was in large part down to the skill and professionalism of Martin Thornton Estate Agents. Yes, you can certainly market your property more cheaply elsewhere, but the service and level of expertise you will get elsewhere will not be on the same level as what this company offers.

We recently sold our house through Martin Thornton and also bought our new house.
We were assisted by Elisha who I cannot praise highly enough. Throughout the whole process she was informative, understanding and helpful, and showed how exceptional she is at her job. She is an asset to the team and made the whole process less complicated than it could have been. Hopefully we won't be moving any time soon but if we were to, I would not consider any other estate agents; there's a reason for their glowing reviews!
Kyra was also a huge help in the process, she was a calming ear when there were bumps in the road and saved my blood pressure a few times!
My only niggle would be to please tone down the brightness of the lights in store! It's like Blackpool illuminations!

From the first contact with Elisha, who dealt with our enquiry with complete professionalism to the first visit, survey and suggest ion of a reasonable asking price, by Martin, through to completion of the sale, we were greatly impressed.

Martin Thornton have been great selling our home. It sold within 48 hours of going on the market, we unfortunately lost our buyer but Elisha acted promptly and got it back on the market that same day. We had viewings booked within minutes and it sold again the very next day.
We were part of a complicated upwards chain which included a number of houses that were being handled by Martin Thornton. Elisha handled the chain well despite a lot of errors from solicitors and banks.
The service was excellent, phone calls and emails answered promptly. Elisha was aware of all updates and would be able to offer advice when needed.

Not only was he late to the viewing he kept telling us to hurry up as he's busy, like it was our fault that he was running behind.

Fantastic staff, very very helpful. From seeing the rented house to getting the keys very fast. Updated me all the way through the process. Polite and professional staff. When we moved in there were a few faults witj the house and Sam contacted the owner and resolved all in a ver efficient timely manner. Cant say enough how pleased I am with Sam and all at Martin Thornton Estate Agents.

I would personally highly recommend Sam and the rest of the team at Martin Thornton estate agents. They bent over backwards to try and push through our purchase even when hitting hurdle after hurdle, This was one of the toughest purchases we have ever dealt with but they made sure it never became an issue, We look forward to working with the whole team again and hopefully under easier circumstances. We literally couldn't have done this without them.

Never told us the address of the property when we turned up the estate agent went to let us in till we said. This is not the property I booked to look at so he rang the office to find out only to find out they have made a mistake the actual house was in another street.
They did not show us around the owners did and the woman in the office was very rude and abrupt on phone she said it’s yours problem to ring for the address not our problem to let u no the address u should be at we also said u have not confirmed via e mail she called us a liar when we said u have not send an e mail.
What a rude unprofessional company.
the owners of the house was not impressed when we told them how rude they was however the owners was lovely and polite

I am appalled with the dreadful service I received from this agency! No respect for the customer at all, as I was wanting to view houses and nobody in the office would even reply with viewing times or anything. I really feel sorry for the landlords who use this company to trust them to sell there homes. I would suggest landlords should use reputable firms then they may even get there homes sold

THE BEST ESTATE AGENTS IN HUDDERSFIELD!!!!
I had my property listed with Ryder & Dutton for nearly 5 months. What Ryder and Dutton couldn't do in nearly 5 months Martin Thornton did for me in 4 weeks - they found me not one BUT TWO BUYERS!! Ryder and Dutton promised me the earth and delivered nothing - I had to literally beg them to remove my property from their listings - even though I gave Ryder and Dutton their required notice. To this day Ryder and Dutton have not had the common courtesy to even acknowledge my emails let alone reply to them - so sellers beware of Ryder and Dutton - you'll be sending emails galore asking them to remove your property from their listings and website and they will ignore you. In the end Martin Thornton made a firm phone call to Ryder and Dutton after which they reluctantly removed my listing from their website. From the first property appraisal visit by Martin, to taking the photographs to preparing the listing and making the listing live, the service has been brilliant!! My sales negotiator was Christie - I do not have enough words to thank Christie for her lightening fast service! She is simply amazing. Throughout the sale process she kept both me and the buyer informed with regular updates. Emails are answered promptly, but more importantly Martin Thornton always answer their phone calls. As for the previous review left by 'Raj Singh' my house was actually well over the 200K+ price range and it has been sold by Martin Thornton - so rejoice over that 'oh ye of little faith'. Your local independent estate agent is 100 times more determined to sell your house faster than the 'bigger' estate agents who charge extortionate fees and then fail to actually deliver what they promised. A big, big THANK YOU to everyone at Martin Thornton - Martin, Christie the superfast sales negotiator and also Abby and Liz (Liz was the very first person i spoke to on the phone to make my intial enquiry - she was so warm and welcoming, because of her warm manner I booked the appraisal appointment with her immediatley). Would i use Martin Thornton again - YES. Would I recommend Martin Thornton - YES!!! Thanks again for everything team - you guys are the best!!

Very unprofessional and changing them word time to time.. been greedy if they can get more money offer even after u do all initial step for buying house.... end of u gonna lose money if u start processing to buy house cause they might change them word if sombody els come with more good offer so be careful... they first talk with u nicely but when u start processing with them they keep changing them word and make u push u to put more offer... if u step back still u honna lose money cause u have to do valuation and solicitor...

After seeing all the for sale signs up that were sold we thought we would visit the branch to discuss putting our property on the market. The staff are so friendly and approachable we decided to use Martin Thornton and Co. Our house sold within 1 1/2 weeks after 2 viewings, we also found our perfect home. We were so impressed I recommended them to my mother in law who was in the process of renting a house out, tenants were found within a week of the propert been on the rental market and my mother in law couldn’t believe how much the team did for her. My mother in law has said the customer service is amazing and said it’s the best she has had(she rents out two other houses) and will be taking the business to Martin Thornton and Co when the tenants contract comes to and end. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I never leave reviews but this i felt i had to! Was nothing but a nightmare from start to finish buying a property from Martin Thornton and co. We were forgotten about after being messed about for a second viewing, myself my partner and 2 family members were left waiting for 20 minutes outside the property we liked as they had forgotten they were showing us around, not once did they offer to be there as soon as possible to show us around we were just laughed at. They re-arranged for Sunday morning to which the man himself turned up late again laughing off how sorry he was forgetting us a couple of days previous. He followed us around the house commenting on what he would do and saying he didn't like any ideas I was discussing with my partner. Also a window lock was broken in one of the bedrooms we asked them to sort it and they said it was a job for our solicitors, it wasnt at all, they just couldnt be bothered to sort it! We loved the house and had a good feel for it so we didnt let them put us off buying it. After we moved in to the property and had been in around a month the SOLD sign blew down in the bad wind Wednesday night, hanging across our lounge window. My partner asked that the sign be removed as we are having the house repointed at the weekend, we were told it would be down in 48 hours. We both returned home from work on Thursday evening to find the sign had been bolted back up on the house when we clearly stated we needed it taking down, so we couldn't continue with our plans. My partner phoned the next day and the snotty receptionist said to him "theres no need to be funny" ha! If i spoke to customers like that in my role id be sacked! We have been messed about from start to finish! I would strongly recommend you stay well away from Martin Thornton and co!! I'm glad we no longer have to have anything to do with them.
