I enquired about a rental property and I was told that I wasn’t going to be a suitable tenant based on my age and because I have children. I note that both of these factors are directly or indirectly to protected characteristics and this represents discrimination in breach of Pointens’ obligations under the Equality Act 2010. Further I note that this conduct in relation of tenant screening is due to become directly unlawful under the new laws coming into force on 1st May 2026, so for tenancies starting on or after 1st May which the one I enquired about likely would, this is questionably unlawful now.... Andrew took us to view some properties — and it was the worst experience we have had in all of our 18-month long house search. He rushed us through every room, tutted at the current in-situ tenants when they were talking us through the property, and it was painfully clear that there was some issues between the estate agents and owners. A highly uncomfortable experience and such a wasted trip as we had travelled over 2 hours away to view these houses. Upon reflection, we did actually like the house and tried to put the experience with Andrew behind us — but in the end, we didn't feel comfortable having him as the estate agent for our first house purchase.... I put in an offer on a parcel of land after doing my investigation on line. I chased the offer down after not hearing back from Andrew the owner. No acknowledgement after nearly 3 weeks to then finding out the listing was either sold or removed. Not professional at all. Would not recommend... Read more
