Recently purchased a property which Robbin Jessop (Bedale) were acting as agent for the seller. I found the process of dealing with the team very easy (arranging viewings, making an offer etc). We found ourselves in tricky circumstances when our chain collapsed when the buyer for our property pulled out, during this process we kept in regular contact with open conversation and they kept us informed of their clients expectations etc, which was instrumental in managing expectations until the chain was completed again and we could complete. They were good through the viewing and offer process but once the Memorandum of Sale had been sent out, we did not hear from them again, even on the day of completion. We were left to liaise with the vendors direct or through solicitors on all matters appertaining to the sale. We dealt with Richard Towler in respect of the purchase of our property in North Yorkshire. There were significant complications in the purchase which resulted from problems with our sale but Richard was able, through his patient and attentive approach, to keep everyone motivated to conclude the transaction. Whilst he didn't deal with our sale we would certainly use him in the future should we ever decide to sell our property. Although acting for the seller he made sure that we were kept informed about the latest position and was courteous and professional in all of his dealings with us without being intrusive.... We were trying to buy a property through this agent. Having experienced several different estate agents over the last few years, and experiencing from a buyers perspective, I would never use or recommend this agent to sell a property. I don't want to name names, but the person we dealt with was incredibly unreliable. They never called back when they said they would. Sometimes days would go past and we'd get a very late evening call as if it was an after thought. When we called to push along our purchase (pretty sure they should've been doing that) the agents in the office has no clue or info on progress. Bearing in mind we were trying very hard to spend a large amount of money on a property they were selling and had increased our offer to do so. They insisted we did a viewing, which I had to drive for 7 hours for, but didn't host it themselves and left it to the seller. We asked specific questions very early on and were told several times there were no issues in relation to our queries. It may be that the seller had hidden this from them, however I would've thought some due diligence to ensure they're answering questions correctly is important. We were incredibly patient and waited several months, moving my family into temporary accommodation to make sure we could buy the property. Heard hardly anything from these agents, barely a phone call in 3 months. They took full advantage of our patience. There were subtle hints from the agent about not raising enquires in order to speed up the process. However it turns out after enquiries were raised, there were several major issues that we feel the seller and agent had hidden or incorrectly informed us. We were forced to exit from the process and put my family's life in limbo for even longer. Thankfully we found another property and the agent (Your Move, Goole) absolutely blew Robin Jessops out of the water with customer service and attentiveness and really showed them up. I'd never use Robin Jessop and I would never recommend them.... Read more

Wow! Like dealing with an agent 25years ago. Arrogant, no communication, totally lack of interest in transacting or any level of customer service. No follow up on viewing. called and was an inconvenience to organise a second viewing. Called to make an offer, told to email but they were about to close so it wouldn’t be picked up for 3 days. Email acknowledged then no call for 4 days. Called to enquire. Told somebody would call back. They didn’t. Called again told they would check with the vendor and call me the following day. No call. Offer not accepted and house sold to another. Asked agent to come back if it went wrong. Buyers backed out - Agent did NOT come back. Only by luck did I find same place re advertised months later. Agent believes this acceptable ! 5 weeks later with Cash and Serches done to buy I am told I delay. Agent believes its OK staff can go on holidays and no one covers ! Agent does not allow conversations with the buyer. Agent was asked to obtain a FULL list of contents to be included what the owners were leaving. They did not do - 5 weeks elapsed list still not available even though I said I would not step further until list was produced from the start of buying. Agents took no action to ensure this. I WAITED as delay extended Now owner acuses me of delaying ! and remarket. I Hope not with same agents Agents attitude clueless how to mature a sale at the expense of the seller and buyer -- would not ever recomend The Company... Read more

FURTHER TO THE RESPONSE FROM THE BUSINESS OWNER 1. I was categorically advised there was an open viewing and that I was welcome to view the property. I would otherwise not have travelled one hour had I not been invited to view the property. (Another blatant lie in a cynical attempt to cover up their sheer incompetence) 2. The gentlemen in attendance who was representing the agents, did not show anyone around the property. He simply stood at the entrance to the driveway providing what he apparently deemed as entertainment. Not particularly a problem, but certainly not as the owner has described here. 3. At no point did anyone advise that there were no keys available to access the outbuildings. 4. The gentleman at the gate, openly admitted to the fact the tree surgeon had let them down by way of not making safe access to the woodland area available in time for the open viewing. “When in a hole stop digging” springs to mind here and the unprofessional reply with their own version of untruths is telling of the way this company chooses to operate —————————————————————————— This company arranged an open viewing on a property, whilst inviting people who had to travel over an hour to view it. Very disappointing on arrival to learn that two of the key attractions (the outbuildings and the woodland area) were inaccessible due to the chap at the gate (a larger than life character who seems to have lost his way as a compere in a cabaret club) not having the keys for said outbuildings, whilst advising that the tree surgeon had not yet been to move a blown down tree that was blocking safe access to the woodland area. Earlier in the week we were also promised further imagery of the property that never materialised. On viewing the property itself, it’s clear why this agent is reluctant to share imagery, as would be far more representative of the actual condition. Very much an old fashioned ‘dishonest used car dealer’ feel to the company, one of which the ethos appears to be one of luring potential buyers to the property, whilst disclosing as little useful information as possible, in the hope they might drop lucky and find a buyer. In essence the property is probably worth just over half of the price it’s currently being marketed at. It would have been nice to experience some transparency as opposed to an attempt to pull the wool over people’s eyes.... Read more

We bought a beautiful Georgian manor house from Robin Jessop and had the pleasure of dealing with Tim Gower in the Leyburn office. The transaction had to be completed in a very short time frame and was challenging and complex with a number of parties with different interests involved. Tim could not have been more helpful, going above and beyond our already high expectations, and navigating us through a process that without his help and expert guidance, could have failed on multiple occasions.
