Disappointing !
This will probably be the last time for budget. Dirty car, no washer fluid, gas tank at 3/4 despite being told it was full. I think there are probably better options.
I guess it’s called budget for a reason.
Although when I booked the car in the States, my expected charges were in the $650 range. The actual bill turned out to be over 1000 pounds. And yes, I did have insurance factored in when I booked the car.

My experience with Budget at other locations has been outstanding but not with this location. An executive in this centre isn't aware of the rules and wasted my 2 hour - I had my UK driving license issued a month ago, backed by my foreign license(in English) issued 13 years ago. He kept arguing like a newbie that you have less than a year of driving experience. Well, in UK you can drive only for a year with foreign license and then have to sit for practicals if you're resident. Avis/Budget bylaws clearly says - minimum one year license and then it can be mix from any competent authority who issued it.

100% recommend. We initally rented a GOLF (or something similar) and ended up with this gorgeous Peugeot 5008. For the driver, it was a bit difficult as he was expecting to drive a normal sized car, but the options and add-ons of the car made it simple to use and safe enough even for someone who has never drove such a big car before. To summarize this all, this company does not complete checks on returning your vehicle!. Therefore BE VERY CAREFUL!. After I returned the car, I asked if they will check the car, and the guy at the desk said there's no need?. To my surprise, he then asked me that I must leave and that if there's any problems they will contact me. 3 DAYS LATER!! MY CREDIT CARD WAS BILLED WITH 500 POUNDS!. NO STARS! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
We returned our car to the wrong location by accident. When dropping off, they didn't tell us we returned it to the wrong rental place. We, the customers, realized we had returned our car to the wrong place on our own. Five minutes after we dropped the car off, we walked back to the Avis/Budget center to either take the car back and go to the other location (which was twenty minutes away) or work out some other solution. Instead of providing any help, they said they closed our account and charged us £130 for a "one-way fee". We asked to dispute this fee, they said it was too late. We called to dispute this fee. They didn't try to help. Instead, they offered us £20 off our next rental and when we continued to try to pursue any sort of refund they hung upon us. I'm never using this company again, and I hope nobody else does. I never write reviews, but this was a terrible experience and really shows that this company doesn't care about the customer.... Initially went with budget as it is in the terminal. (ie no need to take a shuttle) but when we were there (20 August 20) they had moved offices to a different location and you ended up having to go and take a shuttle which added an additional 15-30 minutes.
When getting the vehicle, no issues whatsoever but returning the vehicle was a mess. The address on the contract led back to the office at the terminal instead of the one we were driven to by the shuttle. As we were going to miss the flight, we had no choice but to leave the keys at that office. (closed but had a return box for the keys) Make sure you ask for the address where you are to return the car as the address in the contract isn't up to date.
When we finally had someone call us back, we were at the gate ready to board. They said they would let us know if we'd incur additional charges by leaving the car at the terminal. These are really the only reasons I gave them a 4 star rating instead of a 5.... Read more

The worst experience I had with the company. Multiple unauthorized charges 2 months after the rental. Unexpected fees which is not explained and it's sheer theft. Many credit card charges from other company like Avis, even though I rented at Budget. I wish I could give a minus star here, because this company is misusing my credit card and in return wants to give a voucher. Such a low life staff I have not seen in my entire life. Staff service is professional.
They provided idea of what car you should need, offering car model changing free of charge.
Quite sure that they would promote their All Risk Insurance Coverage Package to guests.
You can ask for the car rental extension, they are able to offer Grace Period for slightly delay of car return.

I felt like I was a buying a car as the representative went through the list of "free" items like the built in GPS/Apple Car Play unit, but forgot to fully describe the extra cost items like insurance. Somehow my requested compact SUV became a Ford Focus, car did not go into first without holding the shifter down after a while, the GPS locked up after a few hours as well (fortunately the person in lot described how to reboot the unit) and the main office computer had gone down when I returned the car, so couldn't get a receipt upon return. We hired an almost new 4 door Renault car with GPS from Budget Heathrow T5. Picking up the car was easy and efficient.
This car was an excellent choice, just the right for 2 people and 2 medium-sized bags, in the lanes of Cornwall.
There was an attempt to up-sell to a more expensive option.
We refused on cost. The Renault was exactly right for our purposes.
Returning the car was also easy and fast.

Be very careful. I booked a car online. Called the customer service and confirmed that I don't need a proof of address as i had a foreign license. I arrive at the office to pick up the car and they refused to give me the car i had already paid for in advance online because they needed proof of address. The guys in the office clearly contradicted the guys from customer service. I had to go back to get the required documents. When i come to their office again to pick up my car with the documents this time, there was a different guy on the counter this time who gave me the car even without asking for the proof of address. Have been here multiple times having pre-booked & pre-paid on the internet. Each time, the internet booking is discarded and they waste 15 minutes starting the booking process from scratch and entering all my details again. They have never had the I reserved ready, there has always been a push to get me to pay for an upgrade or wait until a suitable car arrives. Was once upgraded for free after waiting about an hour.
Drop-off is hassle free though, and the shuttle bus is frequent with pleasant and helpful drivers.... Read more

Overall it was a good experience renting from Budget.
When I arrived on a Friday afternoon, it was not busy at all and I could walk straight up to a counter. They did try up sell a better model to, but I think that's pretty standard across all rental companies. The good thing was that he wasn't pushy when I said no to the car and additional insurance. Getting the car took a little longer than I expected, as there were no other customers around, but I was in and out within half an hour or so.
No problems at all returning the car either and the bus back to the airport was great.... Read more

The only good thing about the service was the bus driver back to Heathrow. When we arrived 10 days ago at 11:15 p.m. we waited almost 30 minutes for a driver. Finally a man went back to the desk to call. The van arrived and we had to beg and stall to allow time for the gentleman to get back. Then the driver literally yelled at us. When we got to the counter, we got a car. We had to upgrade because although we reserved a car in the class that would have enough room, nothing similar was available. A light in the dash board came on as we were leaving. We thought it was fuel and asked about it, but they said fuel was fine. Turns out that we needed a diesel additive. We had to call road side assistance the next day from the cliffs of Dover or the car wouldn't start in the next 200 miles. When we returned the car this morning and reported the troubles, the attendant said they don't add it unless the light was on, but it was on when we picked it up. I can't help but wonder at the service of the cars. As I said earlier, today's bus driver was the only helpful person we encountered. We regularly rent cars , bit we would not use this company out of Heathrow again and maybe not use the company again.... Read more

Only complaint is that the cars GPS malfunctioned after the first day and would only give voice prompts, no display.
I returned to Budget to see if they could get it working, they couldn't.

I should of written this review months ago, alas better late than never.
When I first noticed the ‘star rating’ on google (a few weeks after I received my rental confirmation), I had a doubt.
I was concerned and wary of a potential bad experience.
However, even though I was late to pick up the vehicle (you know, the usual flight delays), the service was warm, prompt and very professional. We covered all the important points and I left the parking lot feeling great!
(And... maybe a wee bit jet-lagged)
I suppose I have a fair amount of experience renting vehicles, surely you also pay attention to the confirmation emails and other details.
All in all, it was one of my better experiences. I hope it turns out to be the same for you!... Read more

But when we returned the car (freshly cleaned in and out btw.) i got charged 50 pounds because the gas tank was only about 80% full (forgot to fill up gas because we where busy cleaning the car). Budget Heathrow Airport is HIGHLY recommened! We arrived at LHR around modmight due to a delayed flight from Norway, but the free Budget shuttle came and picked us up anyway, and man did we get nothing but happy smiling faces that provided us with the most efficient and thorough customer service EVER! We didn´t get the car we ordered online, but we got a smiliar car, and it was AMAZING! The Peugeot 3008 was BRAND NEW, straight from the factory! The car computer even had the plastic film on the screen, so we removed it, and drove away on a long ride up to north west Wales. The car was working like it should, stable on the highways, low noise level in the coupe, great handling, roomy, stylish to look at and very higuh tech inside. It provided us with all the functions we would ever need in a new car. We delivered the car 5 days later, and the drop in car leave worked flawlessly, seamlessly and better than we had ever dreamt of. After a short inspection of the car, a few words, the key was delivered and we were cleared to go. No problem with Budget car rental what so ever, just top notch service and a perfecy product overall. Rating 5/5 stars. Please use Budget, and please rent the Peugeot 3008 or Citroen C4 Picaso/Grand C4 Picasso. Three amazing cars! It is also worth mentioning that Budget had a LOT of brand new cars! They have a shuttle service to and from the airport. If you are returning and need to catch a flight, be aware that it will take a bit of time. I would allow for 20/30 minutes in case there is a queue and in case the shuttle is still on the way.... Read more

I had rented a car online via a reseller (billiger-mietwagen.de/ CarDelMar) and Budget was the on-site partner. Bad experience when I returned the car. The person taking the car back lectured me about renting the car directly at Budget next time. I stood in the freezing cold and had to endure the lecture. The person also took my signed copy of the contract between Budget and me. I was under pressure to catch my flight so I didn´t have the time to get the paper back. When I tried to call Budget to get the copy emailed to me, customer service had no opening time. Zero stars. EDIT: After calls to the customer service, I got an email telling me, they wouldn´t be able to send me my signed copy of the contract because its "not in their system". This is beyond unprofessional. My booking was cancelled at last minute and they failed to provide me alternate vehicle from Heathrow branch.
I spoke to Darren(store manager) promised to pay full refund of £58 within 2-3 working days which they failed to do so. Since then I have been chasing making calls was told to email to claim department. However they have not responded to my email or the phone calls made. I was highly hesitant to use budget when I saw the 2.5* avg review. What a pleasant surprise in every regard. The manager, Darren, was professional and courteous to the highest order. He gave us water upon our arrival and showed a genuine interest towards how we were getting along. I then had an unusual dilemma for them to solve, and he was friendly & positive, quickly resolving my query. The kind of individual you understand why he is a manager at a relatively young age, he conducted himself this way to the other patrons arriving too.
In addition to this, the rental building is new and very clean. There are toilets. You are picked up by brand new 2017 mercedes buses. There's free water, whether bottled or from a chilled filter.

If you want to experience developing world type cons in a developed country go to Budget. I was told I had to pay a damage waiver even though I had my own independent comprehensive insurance (which effectively doubled the price). On returning the car numerous unspecified extra charges occurred which took the bill to 800 pounds. I was told that I would be charged 23 pounds for cleaning (so are you going to return an immaculate car after three weeks?). The car was generally clean but it is another way of screwing you. They are in short the worst company you could ever wish to rent from...don't give them your business, you will be conned. I wish I could give them minus stars. My final bill was checked by a con man called Nij who said, 'I know about the charges cos I've worked here for a year and a half.' Hmm, an utter con man with no integrity. The initial con artist we dealt with was called Phillip, 'I'll lose my job if I don't charge you for the damage waiver, it is UK law.' he said. Utter lies. Slow, incompetent, rude. Had to wait in a hot stuffy queue while only 2 agents sat there with the same 2 customers for 20 full minutes (really) with mobile phones to their ear staring into their computer screens and accomplishing nothing , then after all that, one of them left to go on break! Very poor service. Car was not ready for pick up time. Was told that it was going through wash. After constant chasing with the staff car eventually turned up some 35 mins later. However, then found that the air conditioning and ventilation system was not working. Had to then offload all the luggage and wait for another car and for the paperwork to be re-done. In the end took over 1hr to simply pick up the car. This is the worst customer experience I have ever had at a car rental agency. The Avis / Budget bus didn't show up for 30 minutes due to a shift change whereas Hertz, Europecar, Thrifty were running every 5-10 min. The bus pickup is outside and of course it was raining. We eventually tried taking a cab, but that is not permitted at Heathrow. When we finally arrived at a remote lot far from the terminal, they charged us an extra day for being 30 minutes past our pick up time. It took two managers and another hour to resolve the additional day charge. First two employees were incredibly unhelpful and did not communicate well and finally a supervisor resolved the problem. He mentioned their IT systems are ancient and cause a lot of issues. Avoid this place like the plague.... Read more

It is waiting number 15 and it takes more than 1 hour to sign my contract.
Staff requests a change to a more advanced vehicle instead of the one I booked.
Staff say I do not sign up if I do not take their insurance.
Even if you are insured by another company, the staff must be covered by their insurance.
The contract says that the fuel is full but it is not full.
I do not have a refueling charge, but the staff adds a refueling charge to the bill, and if I tell them to take it out, the refueling charge is deducted and the tax on it is received.... Read more

I also got charged conversion fees as they took the money in £ as apposed to $.
