I have recently purchased an investment property through Smeaton Homes. I found the process very easy and relaxed. I was updated regularly by their staff, Kiera and Dan were great and really helpful. Once our property completed, I then worked with their lettings team to rent my new property out and they had a new tenant lined up by the time we got our keys. I could not have asked for a better letting agent. They have been attentive, supportive and answered every query and solved every problem professionally and in great time. Alex showed me around the house and guided me through the process; she has also been brilliant at providing support and advice since we moved in. The app used by the company is simple and makes communication really easy. We had a lovely little goody bag awaiting us as we moved into the property and everything went so smoothly that it made what could have been a very stressful day feel so much more calm. I approached Smeaton to sell my property. Firstly, my original estimate valuation was at £150k which was great so I started the process. I was then called to say the house was worth £30k lower than the original valuation. Came as a big shock but finally came to an agreement to meet half way (approx £130k) and the house sold in a day (Still think the original valuation was more correct) Then the problems happen, one to highlight; the solicitor is roughly a 0.2 miles down the road from Seaton, It took the agent 3 weeks to post the memorandum of sale? I was contacted by the agent daily as he had really lost control and the solicitors were also confused. (Even blaming the solicitors for loosing the memorandum. With no chain and a first time buyer the process should have been extremely straight forward. IT TOOK 6 MONTHS!!!! From the comments, Smeaton might be good at rental properties but I would never go through the stress and have to take time off work to do a job that I thought Smeaton homes could do again. Kristabell really was the only one to actually helped in any sort of way.... Read more

Whilst looking to relocate to Plymouth from Gloucester we looked at a property being marketed by Smeaton Homes. Dan was very efficient meeting us at the appointed time with all the relevant information about the property. Although the property was not for us he very kindly advised us on other properties we were looking at. He did point out that one of the properties we were interested in would require a full survey being a barn conversion and a basic survey was not permitted. This is something we were not aware of. He also gave us the names of local surveyors who he considered were competant and competitive. I would certainly recommend Dan and his his colleagues.... Read more

Giving 1 star is being generous as I had a very unpleasant experience with smeaton homes. I was treated like I was worthless by a lady from the sales department, Sam? Sarah? Sue? Would not recommend to anyone . Lied through their teeth and I was left very distraught. I have since been to another estate agents that were more than welcoming and bent over backwards to assist in any way they could. We will never be returning to smeaton homes and have encouraged friends not to waste their time with them too.... Read more

Dan was deceitful! Couldn't of been a worse experience, he was very keen to help to begin with and then once our offer was accepted we were completely ignored and mistreated. We made an appointment to view the property after the offer was accepted and no one arrived of bothered to let us know that they wouldn't be turning up. Tried contacting by email and phone and got no response! It later came to light that he had lied about the property we were purchasing and the result of the survey and then tried to tell us otherwise!! Wouldn't use the company again and certainly wouldn't recommend to anyone.... Read more
