A very long and protracted sale of a small property that required significant support from both the seller and his estate agent. Speed of sale not helped by the fact that auction route was initially suggested which failed to deliver a buyer (at the right price). Better communication early on in the selling process would have helped. Support and communication by two staff in particular towards the end of the selling process was excellent.... Read more

In 2020 we were offered a 2 year fixed term contract and was told to pay £125 renewal fee. We paid this in June (they weren't supposed to take fees from June), we then got confirmation but then in July, we suddenly got sent a voided tenancy email and to say we're now in a periodic tenancy. I made a complaint and asked for the £125 fee, as it was paid for a tenancy but it was voided and no longer going through, yet they completely refused to give us our money back, even though it wasn't our fault! We are having to go through a independent legal team to get back our money. Then to top this all off.... Countrywide sent us a email in September increasing our rent (fair enough rents go up) BUT from October '20 we've been paying a extra £50pm rent, plus we've spoken to them by telephone to say we're now paying the extra £50pm BUT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN PAYING THE LANDLORD THE EXTRA £50PM AND INSTEAD HAVE NOT INFORMED THE LANDLORD THAT THEY INCREASED THE RENT AND INSTEAD HAVE BEEN KEEPING THE EXTRA MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically we've been paying a extra £50pm rent since October and someone at countrywide is enjoying £50pm instead of giving it to our landlord. We've just found this out and are disgusted and outraged that not only did countrywide scam us out of £125 for a nonexistent tenancy agreement BUT they've also scammed our landlord out of around £350 so far!!!! Absolutely disgusting and illegal!! EDIT - Thank you for your reply. The best way to resolve this huge issue, is to see who's pocketing the extra £50pm, then pay the landlord everything she's owed and then pay us back our £125 that your keeping from us. If you are looking to rent in Plymouth the best advice I can give you is to NEVER rent a property through Millers. We have lived in such a property for nearly 5 years and have reported numerous problems including black mould, damp and a mice infestation. Even when the landlord came down in person he admitted these were known issues but Millers have done nothing to get this sorted. We have reported and reported but nothing was done. The one time we called head office to try and get an admin issue sorted we found they were not even adding notes onto our account. Now that we have moved out we have found that they are trying to lay all of the previously reported issues at our feet. The problems were so bad we had two professional companies say that until the damp was fixed they would not be able to clean the property. When you contact them by phone you are fobbed off to email. When you email there is no response - not even a computer generated email confirming receipt of your correspondence. If you want a company that truly cares for their tenants (let alone one that ensures the human habitation act 2019 is in use) then Millers is NOT the company for you. They are the epitome of a company who is only there to turn profit.... Read more

Selling my home with the Miller Countrywide team has been a fantastic experience. I had a local solicitor in mind but was convinced to leverage the conveyancing team and it was 100% the right choice, I could contact my solicitor when needed with ease and any of the Miller Countrywide team whilst tracking the progress from the conveyancing connect app. I also had a fantastic engagement with the team but particularly a big thank-you to Lindsey who became my goto contact and provided constructive advice for marketing the property showing a level of professional excellence which is a template for any negotiator. It was a big decision for the property going to market and what was simply an initial valuation turned into a natural choice of advertising it and selling promptly after. I would like to bring to your attention that absolutely horrific way that I have been treated by your Plymouth branch on Mutley Plain. I pay for a fully managed service with yourselves and I have nothing but trouble with yourselves and since absolutely nothing gets done when I try to correspond with yourselves and I’m either met with terrible attitudes or ignored completely I feel it’s time I start to address yourselves publicly. .I have had to send 4 emails to report a flood coming through a ceiling (still no action taken by yourselves). .I have also called yourselves 14 times to report a severe flood and still you have not taken any action to make this safe. .You advertise a 24 hour emergency service and in fact you just completely ignore any emergency reported to yourself . . My tenants deposit seems to have completely disappeared and the government backed deposit protection scheme still haven’t received it from yourself. . I would also like to know why it is deemed acceptable that when I report a flood to Sam Robbinson, Alex Craven, Michelle Serau and Teresa (property manager) not at one point has anyone looked into this matter or arranged for a tradesman to rectify this problem leaving me no option but to take time out of my working day to do this. You manage my property and I pay for a fully managed service. This is advertised as a service you will look after the properties if the landlord is unable to or too busy. You advertise that you have a 24 hour repairs support but I contacted you 72 HOURS ago complaining of a leak going through the ceiling of one of my properties into my lower property. I live 4 hours away from the property and I am unable to manage it myself due to work commitments. Even though you were made aware that the leak was so severe that it coming through the ceiling of the lower flat YOU DID NOTHING. I emailed 4 DIFFERENT MEMBERS of staff with not 1 single reply. I called your office and out of hours emergency line 14 TIMES yesterday alone begging for you to look into the problem as I was worried for the family living below. I expressed I was worried the ceiling was going to collapse so needed this sorted ASAP. I had no option but to turn off the water supply to all 3 of my properties in that block because no one in your office would reply to me so I was unable to gain entrance to the the flat where the flood was coming from. This left 2 families with no running water and when my understandably stressed out self contacted your office I was met with the absolutely disgraceful attitude of SAM ROBBINSON. I had to take time out of time my working day to arrange an emergency plumber and all I requested was that your staff let my plumber into the flat where the leak was. After Sam refused to make this journey that is less than a 5 minutes from your office as my property is on an adjacent road to your office I asked him to put this in writing as I pay for a fully managed service and there was an emergency that you were failing to take any action to rectify. Sam at first refused to put this in writing then stated he would do it on 30 minutes. I contacted him over an hour later and this time I took to initiative to record the way in which I was being treated as I feel it extremely concerning that Millers staff are confident in acting a certain way but want to hide all proof of this behaviour. Please listen to this audio and see what I have to deal with in the state of an emergency. Your refusal to let my tradesmen in lead me to incur extra charges as the tradesmen had to go out his way. As this behaviour seems to be a reoccurring theme with Miller’s this would lead me to believe that this poor conduct is an organisational culture issue and this leads me to my second point. The staff are professional, experienced and friendly. I have dealt with various members of the team over the years and I have always been treated with respect and all aspects of the letting process have always been dealt with in a professional and friendly manner and I have always been kept up to date as the letting process progressed each time. From day one I have always dealt with Alex Craven, who has been superb throughout. Also, especially over the last couple of years, I have also dealt with Jessica Acton, who I must also give a special mention. Jessica has conducted a number of viewings on my behalf and subsequently dealt with the workload which follows a successful viewing. Once again, her professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail is superb. Does not even deserve one star! If you are a good tenant who keeps their house clean and always pays rent on time, offers great communication and leaves a property better than when you moved in, DO NOT RENT FROM MILLER. Our whole tenancy was spent never having replies to calls or emails, to ask if we could decorate and then to fix a leak. In the end we just fixed stuff ourselves at OUR OWN COST. Tenancy renewal came up, 'Hi we are proud to offer you another 12 months at £20 extra a month' No way! So we gave 30 days notice, no response. Email after email, no response! Then one a week before we move - we will ask the landlord if you can leave before your tenancy end date.. ??????????? it was after. Now nothing. 4 months later the deposit is still being held. Can't get hold of them at all. So next port of call is to give the landlord a visit and let him know his agency sucks.... Read more

Can't recommend this place enough, have had a strong line of disaster private landlords over the years through gumtree etc and really ruined my state of mind paying through the nose for shabby housing that never gets repaired, but Jess.A in the office is a superstar agent and made the move for me and my partner so easy we were left in shock the day we moved in it was so easy. Having experienced the other side of the spectrum of rogue landlords. Gave them a budget and explained my circumstances as absolutely honestly as I possibly could and they took that and found us a dream maisonette that myself and my partner have already fallen in love with. Our agent was very lovely and enthusiastic, however, they lacked much knowledge about the property itself. While the business side was handled very clearly and efficiently, the after care was very poor. Unfortunately, we weren't shown where the water, electric or water meters were or how the heating or appliances worked, as they had never been there. We arrived for our check in and the front door lock was broken, which was agreed to be sorted before we moved in. We understand that this wasn't the agent's fault and they did actually get it sorted immediately; it was obvious they hadn't been to the property at all before or after we had first viewed it. This is more for feedback than it is a complaint. Credit to them, the immediate issues of only having a single fob and the lock having issues, they quickly contacted help and got it sorted. A major positive factor, however, is the property maintenance management is fantastic. They are very helpful and friendly and have always addressed our issues in a timely manager.... Read more

Chris Symons and the team have been very professional, efficient and helpful throughout the whole process regarding the sale of a family property. It was a slightly more daunting prospect for us, as not only do we live 250 miles away, the sale was as a result of a family bereavement. From the moment of the first viewing of the property, they comprehensively looked after us! Philip Searle and his band of helpers proved to be everything we would have wished for and more. I sold my house with Miller and Countrywide Plymouth last year. They were extremely friendly and professional. They gave me a very competitive quotation and made me feel very at ease in leaving my property in their hands, knowing they would represent my interests. I was worried about the valuation they gave me as i didn't think it would entice many viewings and i wanted a fast sale. However, they booked in over 20-30 viewings in a short time frame and sold my flat in the 6-8 weeks that they predicted. Shawnie gave me many updates and helped me throughout the sale. Used these guys to sell my flat. Right from the start it was a very easy and smooth process, at a great price in comparison to the other quotes i received. The photos made my flat look great and were professionally taken. My property was at the top of all the 'property search' websites including Right Move. They priced it well enough to leave me happy, and to get interest and viewing bookings. There were multiple bookings every week and i received a few offers too. When i agreed a sale i got a great price for the solicitors which i used. This was convenient as i could pop in to get all my documents printed, signed and returned. Nothing was too much for them. Worst letting agency, don’t use them, paid 10% for their management fees thinking they would manage the property. Issues with the electric gate, so they charged me £60 to fic the gate, which is fair enough but turns out they didn’t fix the gate at all. Absolutely useless trying to charge me for untaken services and did a rubbish job managing the property, have since been looking after the property myself and having the tenant contacting me directly in case of issues.... I have just noticed that Miller Lettings in Plymouth have just been voted 4th out of 30000 letting agents across the whole of UK in a Rightmove survey.! not one for leaving reviews but I Rented a flat through miller and bar a couple of people they where very unhelpful and hardwork. With all the fees you pay through an agent I expected more an will not ever use them again. From the day I moved in I was told if there were any issues at all in the flat to call the maintenance team, straight away on moving In I found the door buzzer did not work An being on the 3rd from this was very annoying, I then realised it wasnt just the door not working but every other flat in the buildings buzzer would ring in my flat so my buzzer would be going off all the time day and night everytime someone came to the building, when I rang an emailed to arrange a fix I was told they understand how annoying this must be for me and said they would have it fixed ASAP, I've now moved out 6months later an still to this day never heard back or had anyone fix it. Also the tv aerial socket was broken when I moved in so I called up An was told they would get back to me asap to sort it being fixed yet to this day I've never heard back either. Then trying to get my deposit back at the end of my tenancy was like trying to get blood from a stone! Finally got it back over 2 weeks later as they couldn't get hold of the landlord. Would probably still be in the flat if it wasn't for all the issues and nothing getting done.... Read more

I wouldn't give this a star. Was a tenant of one of their propertys an have nothing but trouble 3 months after moving out trying to get back our deposit. Andrew who works there is awful has done nothing but waste our time. Poor communication. 3 weeks of no call backs despite being promised by senior members, still arguing to get our deposit back now having to go to court. There was someone wrong with the property allegedly but the property is now being rented to someone else an was left inimacculate conditions. Nothing but lies an propblems avoid if possible... Miller Countrywide Plymouth have recently sold two flats for us and on both occasions we have been extremely happy with the service they have provided. The staff manage to combine consummate efficiency with a friendly helpful manner. Emails and questions were answered quickly and efficiently and nothing was too much trouble. As we live abroad communications are often difficult and on several occasions the staff went over and above the call of duty to help us solve issues which arose because of our location. They did a fantastic job during the sale of my property from valuation to the very end of the sale. They are very professional. I invited many Estate Agents for valuation but most of them just sent some small boys who lacked experiences and failed to convince me on why I should trust they would be able to sell my property with the price they suggested. However, when Mr Ian Davidson from MillerCountrywide came, he was very professional and gave me credible evidence based on his decades of experience in the profession. During the sales, Shawnie Curno provded regular and timely updates and the whole process went very well. Also, their prices was not expensive. Having spoken to a number of agents with regards the rentable value of my property, i felt the reception i was getting was unsatisfactory and did not feel a valued customer. Tim Harper however gave me his full attention, his professional advice and the understanding of my requirements i needed. Not only did he offer me a very realistic valuation of my property and the services available to me as a landlord, but he also discussed other aspects of the business should i consider selling the property in the future. Myself and my partner have just rented our first house through them, Tom showed me around, took us through the whole process and handed us the keys. He was really nice and friendly, always open and honest and answered any questions we had. The agency fees were lower than other places I’ve seen and they were flexible about us getting it paid.
