As first-time buyers we didn’t really have much knowledge of the house buying process, but Robin & the team were so helpful and supported us through the whole process. They were always quick to respond to queries (which we had quite a lot of being first time buyers!) and they never made us feel silly for asking things that were probably quite simple!
The property we bought had to exchange on quite a quick time scale, so we were a bit anxious at times, but they helped us get everything done quickly and with as little stress as possible. Robin frequently checked in with us to see how it was all going and was always friendly and a pleasure to deal with, as were the other members of the team we spoke too.
We’ve heard some horror stories from people using other agents when buying their home, so we were a bit apprehensive with it all, but honestly our experience has been nothing but positive with Thomas & May and I would recommend them highly. Thank you for helping us buy our dream first home!

We can't praise them enough, from initial contact with Robin at valuation stage through to completion we found them helpful, honest, friendly and easy to keep in contact with. Robin and Christine kept us fully up to date while we were undergoing a potentially a tricky chain-move, and were fully on top of all the communication needed between ourselves, the buyer, solicitors and onward chain estate agents. Highly recommended, and with a local service and knowledge you wouldn't get with a large estate agent group. Thanks to all of you at Thomas and May.

We have recently sold our house through Thomas and May, Robin and his team were fantastic from day 1. They were all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had an open day and got an offer which we excepted but unfortunately just before we were going to confirm an exchange date, the buyers pulled out. Robin was brilliant and got us another buyer within a few weeks, we had a few more issues with solicitors but Robin kept chasing everyone and kept us all in the loop. We have now completed and would highly recommend Thomas and May.

I never thought I'd give an Estate Agency five stars! Robin and the team were great at selling my Mum's bungalow; a much better experience than the last time I sold a property through another agent. They seemed to have excellent knowledge of the local market and their initial valuation seemed spot on as it generated a good number of viewings. They kept me informed of progress and gave good advice about subsequently dropping the price slightly to keep the interest up and then convert those enquiries into a sale. They were also a great help when the buyer got nervous about going through with the purchase just a couple of days before we were due to exchange!

We had a great experience of Thomas and May. My husband and I are first time buyers so did not really know what to expect but Robin and the team were in contact through our purchase. They were always responsive to my calls and emails as well as understanding when I couldn’t answer their calls/emails straight away because I work in a school. When we had a few issues towards the end of our purchase, Robin was amazing at pushing the vendors solicitors and informing us about what we could do to push the purchase along. Definitely recommend the team.

My partner and I received terrible service on so many level.
We placed an offer on a property which has been accepted by the vendors.
Robin then went on holidays and his colleague Christine took over. Because she deemed we did not respond to one of her e-mail quick enough (we did respond only a few days after she had sent it), she went ahead and sent the property to someone else, without being in touch with us at all.
At no point were we told the vendors had changed their mind or that our offer had been taken down. We therefore continued being in touch with the agency, and were chasing for latest update for nearly two weeks, calling, emailing and leaving messages as we had heard nothing back from Christine, and they never answered.
We only realised the property had been sold to someone else when it was marked on rightmove as STC.
We complained to the agency and finally reached Robin, but no one was even apologetic or sympathetic given the circumstances.
Such a lack of professionalism and communication. This agency clearly tries to sell the quickest they can to get their sales bonus, and respect to buyers definitely does not seem to be part of their vision.
I should add, to illustrate how poor service this agency delivers, that Barbara locked us in the property for 15 min on our first viewing! She knew the key was faulty but decided to lock the door after we had entered the house anyway. We had to come out of the property through the back garden.
There are plenty of agencies out there, please avoid this one!

Great 5 Star service from a small local company. From the moment I made my first enquiry the branch were on hand to help me with my queries and concerns about selling, especially as it wasn’t the first time of me doing this. The branch staff have been attentive right through to completion, today. Nothing was too much trouble and they were excellent at keeping me in the loop when developments happened. As I work in the city, taking calls was not always possible, but we agreed they would keep in touch via email and text message. This worked a treat. Thank you to Robin and the team for helping me sell my property in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Merstham local area, their knowledge is vast.

Wouldn't recommend at all
They are least responsive. In general, state agents are good during pre-sales and once the deal is closed they are least bothered about the clients (I dealt with them as a tenant), but they don't bother during the pre-sales as well. They want to maintain consistency, I wonder.
They are never available on call, by chance if you get a hang of them they would ask to write your concerns in email and won't respond to those or ignore the important concerns like safety etc.
Despite writing twice they didn't bother to respond to my concerns of electric wires laying over the kitchen cupboards and other outstanding electrical issues.

Local estate agent with a great personal service.
When you drive through Merstham you can see that most of the houses for sale or sold are from Thomas and May. No wonder why, as we found T&M's team extremely friendly, helpful, diligent and honest which we cannot say the same about other estate agents in the area. Highly recommended.

Thomas and May are by FAR the best estate agents we have come across; they were approachable, friendly and professional and went above and beyond to sell our house for a good price in difficult circumstances. I came across Thomas & May, while trying to seek my Mother's house. Because I am not from the local area I had not heard of Thomas & May.
I went ahead with a Company plucked from the internet who were unable to sell the house over a 10 month period. When visiting the area I walked into Thomas & May and asked them to re-evaluate the property. Their professional approach coupled with their local knowledge convinced me to solely market the property with their Company. Within two weeks I had an offer and this completed within 3 months. The process was seamless, professional and friendly and therefore have no hesitation in recommending their services. As an aside, it was also refreshing to meet and deal with a proper old school business. A business with some character and good local knowledge, not an agent with big plate glass windows and cappuccino machines.

I definitely would NOT recommend this letting agency. I had a very bad experience with the letting manager that didn't have any professionalism or customer service in our case.
Once they took the rent and deposit they didn't responded to my emails and didn't do the repaires in the house as initially discussed.
After two weeks they still didn't reply.
I can't give less than a star, but if I could I would do it.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and they found a buyer quickly. However, we often had to chase them up when nobody had called us back, and when our agent was out, nobody else could help with our queries. But our agent was very patient with all the queries that arose with our chain, and we finally had a successful sale.

Terrible letting agents. Did absolutely nothing but keep the rent in their account for UP TO 4 WEEKS before paying me and charged through the nose for it. Gave incorrect advice regarding landlord obligations. Did not give clear advice regarding inventories before I rented the house. Unresponsive to queries and complaints. Cannot recommend strongly enough that you do not let your property through them. Have now found a fantastic agent and realised exactly how appalling these people are. Complaint registered with Consumer organisations.

We have had terrible service from Thomas and May since day one of moving in. They provided us with the keys at the office, and when I asked them to provide us with safety certificates for the property they seemed confused.
They had provided a gas safety certificate, but no other certificates which are provided by most reliable and safe lettings agents or landlords (e.g. electricity, fire, PAT, EPC). When I explained this to them they then thought it best to tell me that I was wrong in thinking these should be provided (even though I used to work at a lettings agency and know the standards). They all made this point and even raised their voices, making the whole experience very hostile and aggressive that I left very abruptly.
We decided to give in our notice 6 months after moving in to the property. The first viewing arranged by Thomas & May did not allow for the 24 hour notice which is outlined in the Tenancy Agreement.
I then discovered that at another viewing, photographs of the flat with our belongings in had been taken without our permission and put up on Rightmove.
I would never recommend them to anyone, even someone who was desperately looking for a place to rent. I certainly would not use them again myself.

Robin and the team were excellent. I was kept fully informed of progress at all times. Fully professional Team at all times. If you want to sell your house fast PLEASE use them without the fear of time wasters being shown around your home. I asked Robin to sell my house at 11 am on Monday, it was sold for the full price at 12.30 pm on Saturday. I could not have asked for a better service.
