I wasn't their client, my buyer was. The solicitor left everything to the last minute, caused huge amounts of stress and went on holiday leaving an unbriefed colleague to take over just at the point when the sale was due to complete. The buyer ended up phoning my solicitor to apologise for the inaction of Watermans. They were disorganised and complacent with no regard for the difficulties they caused.

Watermans handled a personal injury and car loss claim following a road traffic accident.They did so superbly. They were extremely efficient and professional in their communications and excelled in negotiating a settlement which was far beyond our expectations . This work was primarily done by Johnny Richardson, whom i cannot speak highly enough of. There were some issues in the case that Johnny handled with patience and skill .He was instrumental in achieving a settlement which, as stated, exceeded our highest expectations .
This was my first experience of this firm and i can easily see why they are so highly rated and successful.

I used Watermans to buy a property, they came recommended to me by my mortgage advisor. I dealt with Sophie, who was extremely helpful throughout the process, answering all my queries, which probably were a little silly at time as I was a first time buyer and had little knowledge on the process, and kept me up to date with any developments. Highly recommend for conveyancing, thanks to Sophie this process was a lot less stressful than I think it would've been otherwise

I wish I could say we had a good experience with Waterman's but ultimately I think we were left feeling their service was lacking. We used them this past spring in the purchase of our first home - did we ultimately purchase and move into the property? Yes, and for that fact I give two stars. However, our assigned solicitor Aaron was fairly noncommunicative throughout the whole process and we repeatedly had issues getting our documents shared and approved. We would submit documents within 24 hours of request, and then get a reply that they were not suitable sometimes up to two weeks later. This carried on to the point where the handover of keys was delayed. Things happen, and that in itself wouldn't have been such a big deal. However, after we got moved in we had an issue with the flat, still within the window where it falls to the seller to sort out. Although Aaron was somewhat helpful getting back into contact with the seller, once the bill came through for that service, which was not our responsibility, he pretty much fell off the face of the earth - no replies to our emails, calls, or voicemails. It's been about two months and still our messages have gone unanswered. Lastly, although my partner (male) and I were buying the property together, I was repeatedly left off email communication despite consistent reminders for me to be included as an equal purchaser of the property. Just sort of one more thing that rubbed us the wrong way. Overall, we're disappointed in Waterman's lack of timely communication and customer service, and plan on using another firm in the future.

If you can avoid them, we highly recommend doing so. We used Watermans for their solicitor services based on recommendations from First Mortgage. The communication was extremely poor; our file felt neglected, and we had to chase them for updates. Neither the buyer nor we were in a chain—the flat was unoccupied for three months, and we were first-time buyers. Halfway through the process, they had to change our solicitor due to family problems, leaving us without answers for two weeks. The process was far from smooth. It was very disorganised, and when we called them to stress the urgency of the matter, as we couldn't afford the overlap of double rent and mortgage payments, we were laughed at. Two days before getting the keys, we finally received an update and a call from the director to apologise. While we appreciated the call, it did not help and felt like an excuse for their lack of professionalism.

My brother has terminal cancer and is in a hospice. His condition took a dramatic downturn over the weekend which resulted in him being unable to travel to Watermans office to sign the will. Watermans Amy Kennedy visited my brother in the hospice, outside of office hours, to ensure the will was signed and properly witnessed. She was brilliant throughout and the family can’t thank her and Watermans enough for their help during a very difficult time.

Mr. Johnny Richardson, Claims Manager from Watermans, branch in Edinburgh, successfully handled my case for compensation for loss of health as a result of a seemingly minor road accident. First of all, Mr. Richardson sent me for non-invasive medical consultation. And my car was quickly and efficiently repaired, the original front bumper was replaced in place of the crushed one. Our contact was via the Internet, only at the beginning I had to come to the Watermans office with the documentation necessary to conduct the case. The customer service at Watermans is worth recommending! Not only was I met with great kindness and patience, but also with professionalism, which is always beneficial in situations of conflict of interests - the injured party and the perpetrator's insurer. What is very important is the way the legal services were settled: Watermans simply deducted 20% from the compensation won and sent the remaining 80% of the compensation to my bank account. I must admit that this is a very convenient, non-stressful way of dealing with a law firm. - I would like to thank Mr. Johnny Richardson for taking on this case and for the final result, very positive for me, in the form of winning the case.

I don't like to write bad reviews but I am sorry, there is no other ways, other than to seek legal advice, therefore, before I take a legal advice this is a review for Watermans.
I sold my property in August 2021, it has been nearly two years now, Watermans retained £5000 when I sold my property. We have exchanged dozens of emails, the company is still refusing to release the amount retained. Watermans says they can't do anything until the council provide the the charges but there is nothing to be paid to the council.
It is really frustrating, I am surprised a big company like Watermans is treating their customer in such terrible way.

Although I have been a homeowner for over 12yrs, the process of selling a property was completely alien to me and I had been holding off doing so partly due to fear around the process and the potential cost implication.
Zayna (Tzana) was introduced to me by a friend who had recently used Watermans Legal to help with the sale of their own property and came very highly recommended. Not only was Zayna helpful and professional but she was also down to earth, approachable and reassured me no question I had would be left unanswered (and was also answered in terms I could understand). She also showed so much care and love for my wee dog, Milo...always a win!!
While the initial viewing and then offer stage was quite fast-paced, Zayna really took the pressure off me and did all the hard work. I would also like to highlight here Emma's contribution, who helped choreograph all viewings and ensured that these didn't affect the hours of my self-employed business.
Following a successful bid at closing date, I was then put in the capable hands of Shawn who helped draw up and communicate the terms of sale between both parties, whilst keeping me informed of every stage and/or requirement for any documents from my side, right until the sale was completed. This was the part I was most worried about but it was so straight forward!
I really am grateful to all of the people involved in this whole process. They made what I had pre-empted as being a scary, formal, daunting process so simple, straight forward and almost, enjoyable! Used them few years ago. Based on No Win No Fee. I did get my vehicle fixed. My case with was RAC whic damaged my vehicle. After a while RAC (who was at fault) decided to pay for age which was for only for couple of hundred. I wasn't happy with this and Watermans were unwilling to continue with my case. This meant that I had to pay for shortfall. I was unwilling to pay. They then started court proceedings against me. Decided to pay and close the case. Crafty company. They charge both customer and others to make money. Dishonest company. Avoid at all costs!!!

The process took nearly 2 years which I understand can be the case however ... my claim handler Laura Swan did not provide enough updates and did not respond to numerous emails over this time period. When I eventually managed to track her down ( calling back and forward for days) she would merely state that she was "just off the phone " to the person who she dealt with regarding each issue. This was clearly not the case and another excuse rather than admit that nothing had been progressed. Due to continually being ignored in emails I made contact with another member of staff Johnny Richardson. I cannot fault him. He went over and above what I expected, was very proffesional and had my claim completely concluded within two days!!

After reading the reviews on Three Best Rated, I decided to use Donald Wright at Watermans Legal for my divorce. I’m sorry to say that I had a really bad experience.
Even after a couple of meetings and many email exchanges, Mr Wright didn’t fully understand my case. I became frustrated when Mr Wright wasn’t willing to challenge my ex’s solicitor on matters where she was completely at fault (draining company bank accounts). At this point I thought it was time to change solicitors which was a great move as my new solicitors suggested all the things I’d been trying to get Mr Wright to do for months.
To top it all off, after moving to new solicitors I discovered that important information from my ex’s solicitor had not been passed onto me. Mr Wright was not willing to admit any shortcomings even after all the facts were put in front of him.
I would highly recommend avoiding using Mr Wright.

My case was dealt with by Mr Richardson.
He assisted me from the beginning until the end.
Whenever I had any questions, issues he did not hesitate to contact me and offer advice or solution.
I was aware throughout the whole case of what is happening as Mr Richardson kept me updated at regular intervals or whenever there was any update.
The only negative experience is the fact that the case lasted a year and a half despite the third party insurer not giving us difficulties.
Case began in Sept 2018 and lasted until March 2020.
Overall I am happy that an acceptable outcome was met, and that I went with the professional services of Watermans Solicitors.

Found out more information on my case from an other ember of staff and not the person dealing with my claim.
Once my claim was settled that’s when you find out they deduct money to cover you’re treatment . If I was aware of that at the start I would have got treatment through my GP.
Wouldn’t recommend Waterman’s to anybody.

She provided a 1st class service taking away the stress out of buying and selling. She provided the personal touch but at the same time maintaining professionalism throughout the whole processes. Fantastic. Watermans Solicitors provided me a professional, efficient and friendly service that they can truly take pride in. They secured compensation for me in the event of injuries incurred during a motorcycle accident that was not my fault. Mollie was my claim handler and kept in touch throughout and explained everything thoroughly to help me make fully informed decisions, knowing she was there to contact directly if I needed to ask anything. Before they contacted me, I was nervous and unsure of the idea of getting into a complicated legal situation that turned out to be as simple and straightforward as filling a short form in (they even sent someone out dedicated to do this to my house to explain and sign I would be giving consent to my medical information - very efficient.) Seeing the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon was also quick and easy, that was all arranged for me. I cannot rate them high enough for how fantastic they have been through every step of the process. I had no idea where to begin with my claim, with it being my first accident. Waterman's took complete control, explained everything efficiently and organised a hire car to replace mine. My car was fixed within the week and the hire car was collected on retrieval of my fixed vehicle. They communicated effectively and I had access to an online account where my claim was updated. I was notified via email, text and post of any updates as well. I was issued one solicitor who dealt with my whole claim, much better than waiting to speak to random call handlers each time like some companies. Very positive experience and would definitely recommend.

After a serious rta I was lucky enough to be put in contact with John Dillon, who handled my case from the start. It must of been one of the more lengthy and complex cases he'd handled. It took three and a half yrs from from contact to payout, which was considerably more than I'd expected. John handled my case with, patience as I was in and out of hospital a lot at the beginning. I was kept completely up to date with everything and he was never too busy to speak to me anytime. Very professional and i would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who was unfortunate enough to need his service. Contacted Watermans after another vehicle reversed into my stationary car.
The whole process from initial interview to medical check to contacting 3rd parties solicitors to settling the claim moved along at a very acceptable pace.

Can't recommend highly enough! Watermans Soliciors we're tremendous in their job, especially Mrs Beth who represented me to get my compensation after car accident. For the whole time of process I've been receiving posts from time to time with all updates of the case so I was aware of everything up to date. They took care of any medical appointments and paper works, not mention any fees. I didn't have to worry about any of it. Very friendly contact either by post or on the phone with highly professional work while dealing with my case. Mrs Beth was so helpful with any questions I had and also giving me good advices in the law subject. The final result was actually better than I expected, which makes me very happy customer of Watermans service.

I used Shawn Wood to handle my Divorce in June/July 2017 and I have to say he could not have been any better, He got me the result I was looking for and in a very quick time. I could not fault him in any way. Things could have got very difficult but help me get the result I wanted without their having to be a big battle which I did not want , Shawn help me to find out what I was entitled to legally and got me it, he listened to what I wanted and did not make me do something I did not want to do but got me a fair result. Waterman's acted professionally on my behalf after an injury caused by the negligence of the other party. I suffered a lot of pain for weeks and the injury stopped sports activities while I was on holiday following the injury. Therefore I felt that the compensation settlement should have been more. Excellent service. I would highly recommend the watermans team and would not hesitate to use them again. I have used this company on a couple of occasions after car accidents that were not my fault. Prompt professional and efficient service. Car was fixed in a timely manner to a high standard, picked up and dropped off with a courtesy car whilst it was in for repair. All this without the hassle of having to do the time consuming and stressful work of dealing with insurance companies. Another plus was the speedy referral to a local private physio for treatment and rehabilitation of whiplash injuries. Keep up the good work guys.

If I could give it no stars I would. They were overly friendly and more than happy to come into my home, take all my personal details, taking pictures, asking me very personal questions only to transfer me to another solicitor because it was a conflict of interest?! Only because they are currently trying to coax my passenger in to making a claim against me! my own boyfriends mum! How dare you! Knowing all about my circumstances and you still have the cheek to continue to try and convince her to put a claim in! unprofessional and dishonest, Still haven't received any paperwork or my documents back!

Slow to act, claim wouldn't have gone anywhere if i hadn't kept nudging them, waited 2 months for a police report that was never coming - I had to inform them of the correct document to ask for.
End result was that they couldn't help me anyway and told me nothing I didn't already know because they never bothered asking me in the first place. Waste of 2 months.
