I just want to say a big thank you to White & Sons in Dorking and especially to Amy who has been a big help. I had several problems recently. I needed to get a door on one of my properties brought up to standard for fire regulations but I couldn't find anyone to do the job. I had called 5 different organisations. I called Amy and she proivded me with several numbers and an excellent recommendation. She was very helpful and got the numbers and information to me immediately.
I also had an issue with the new parking regulations where one of my rented properties is located and again Amy helped me out and got everything arranged.
I must say, I have several properties and work with several managment companies and White & Sons is definitely amongst the most helpful and approachable.

The worst lettings agent I have been with so far. I was letting a property for 6.5 years with them and they have turned out to be very unprofessional. I had to leave as they wouldn't fix the heating for months during winter times ( beware of them, the landolord is who they try keep satisfied not the tenant ) and they tried to keep almost half of my deposit citing 'damages' which were non existent because the landlord said so!!! . They provided misleading evidence and I had to raise a dispute with the tenancy deposit protection scheme. This situation caused me a great deal of stress and financial strain. Of course I got back my full deposit but that took 3 months.
Therefore I strongly advice everyone avoid their lettings department. These people who work in their lettings department showed a fascist behaviour during my tenancy and I am sure that has happened to other tenants too. I also advise whoever has any similar problems with them not to be afraid to make a review. Some people working there need to get kicked out.

About halfway through my purchase I was introduced to Lloyd. Who from the minute I meet him was knowledgeable, friendly and understanding to my first time buyer stress's. Their service has been exceptional and is quite different from what have experienced with other agents who have been swallowed up by large corporate entities. We have found their advice to be clear and professional, their accounting system prompt and accurate and their ethos to be one focussed on their client's interest rather than that of their business. Nicky Wilson who heads up their property maintenance department warrants special praise for her unfailing patience and her persistence in chasing contractors to perform.

Approx 1 year ago we changed our management company to White & Sons. Who are extremely easy to work with. Highly professional, prompt with responses and the needs of our residents and development.
They have provided cleaners and gardeners that have made a massive difference to the overall appearance of the development.
Within the past year we have had new front doors, painting of communal areas and new carpets. Which we have been waiting for, for many years. Due to the previous management company not being effective.
I highly recommend White & Sons and have done so with other leaseholders in other apartment blocks.

Right, first of how good it was to deal with Professionals.
They were the ultimate Professionals in every respect.
Now within 5 weeks we have sold our home in Surrey. And although we currently live in Cyprus. Have purchased another home in East Sussex.
But I would stress that only with the dedication of Whites and Sons, have we been able to 'do' it.
So thank you Cedric and staff, you know who you are. Even the lady with size 5 feet?e How do I know that? Because I asked her, and then told her to take a good swing. And insert her foot right up the 'backside' of our buyer, buyers solicitors who were to my mind , holding proceedings up slightly!!!
But it worked and for that, we will be forever grateful to Whites and Sons.
My lovely wife and I, look forward to breaking open the Bubbly with them on our return.

White & Son's Dorking have been amazing from start to finish and trust me it has been a journey. After initially selling our house in a day we were then stuck in a chain for over 8 months which sadly fell apart at the start of the chain. Philip then got our house back on the market swiftly and re-marketed it and selling yet again in a day and over the asking price. Philip and his team are incredibly patient, fair and reliable. They remained calm at all points and have worked hard to liaise with buyers and others required to communicate actions at all times. Having dealt with various estate agents who did not communicate well I can not recommend them enough. A great service that I wholeheartedly recommend to you.

We have found them to be very helpful and responsive to queries; equally they refer matters to the directors of the management company for approval on a regular basis for approval rather than being overly presumptive.
Justin Theobald has always been there in overall charge of the team and has been happy to meet or discuss matters with with the directors when necessary. We have always found Justin to be very professional but also approachable.

Lloyd Wilkinson did an outstanding job for us as a purchase, and I am sure for the seller. He was proactive from the beginning, helped us secure the property, and then worked with us all through the process, nudging solicitors, ourselves and sellers to bring the sale to a conclusion.
When we had a glitch on valuation, he successfully worked with all the people in the chain to secure a mutually acceptable price negotiation.

White and Sons, in particular Jamie Gray and the bloc management team, have been fantastic. Five massive sparkly stars to White and Sons, Dorking. They have been a genuine delight from start to finish. They were marketing a property we liked, and from being shown around the property to putting an offer in to exchange and all the fiddly bits in between, they have made it a great experience. A bit like finding a good dentist, these really are people who change your perception of what can often be a stressful experience.
A particular thank you to Maddy, who was so efficient whilst being incredibly lovely, but also the whole team at White and Sons in Dorking. Our calls and emails were answered, our questions dealt with promptly and we never felt we were bothering them.
We hope to be in this house for a long time, but without a shadow of a doubt we will be using White and Sons when the time comes to sell.

I wouldn't recommend renting through W&S. It took months to fix leaks in the house and we had to go to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme to get our deposit back after W&S told us they did "not think the Landlord’s requests are unreasonable". A stressful time but glad to be out now after the arbitrator saw sense. On the plus side, I would say they were respectful during visits with Covid precautions and responsive to calls etc. Also depends on your landlord and it's all a bit of lottery when you deal with agents (we had no luck!).

After deciding to take advantage of the stamp duty reduction, we contacted four estate agents for valuations. All were very similar in price estimates but we got on well with Whites, who were very confident of selling within the timescale. We started marketing the property in August/September 2019 and we were lucky enough to have Grace Jackson assigned to look after us. We were kept informed at every stage of the process and were soon inundated with viewings. These were all handled by Grace and the team (Maddie and Bailey) and every time they turned up they were friendly, responsive and followed the Covid guidelines. It was not long before we got an offer on the property ( first week of October).
As we were moving out of the area, we spent the next three weeks searching for a property to move into. This was found by the end of October. We got a solicitor (recommended by Grace) and we moved forward. This is where Grace and the team really came into their own, they were brilliant chasing all parties involved to make sure we hit our deadline of moving before Christmas. Grace worked all hours to ensure that everything worked.
I am pleased to say that we achieved our goal of being in by Christmas and this was mainly down to Grace, with fantastic support from Maddie, Bailey and the rest of the team at White's.

Absolutely fantastic agency to go through. During these difficult times and everything being done slightly different, we still managed to view the property and the lady was very professional and was able to show us around despite of the situation.

I bought my house in Dorking in 2010 through White and Sons. Ten years later I came to let the same house as a landlord and Whites were the obvious choice. They knew the house and were familiar with its history. Throughout the whole process I couldn’t have asked for a better service. They were knowledgeable and thoroughly professional; swift but thorough. They found me a tenant at the asking price within a few days but then advised me to put it back on the market as they weren’t happy with the checks they had done on them. A few weeks later they found some great tenants who are also very happy with White & Sons. I would say they are very trustworthy. The great thing is they are always available, either on the phone or if you are on the high street you can drop in and see them in person. I would highly recommend.

This agency rejects potential tenants and discriminates against them based on their own reasons that do not seem to follow U.K. standards, and they won’t clearly explain to you - was left feeling it was my background and where I was coming from abroad that led to being refused a viewing, seeing as I have the income and savings to easily cover rent, and could have used a guarantor also if required. Wouldn’t use these as a landlord or a tenant and have reported them to the ombudsman for review.

My husband and I recently relocated from abroad, found a property we loved and attempted to view and place an offer, but the agency refused us. Initially I was told it was because the landlord wouldn't accept us based on our financial situation, and because the landlord wanted a professionally working couple... When I queried that the agency might have potentially misrepresented us, and our situation, to the landlord they then changed their story and told me it was actually because they had too many interested parties and so had decided to rule us out because we didn't meet the agency's own criteria. They were aware that we had just moved back from the Middle East, I was working, my husband was choosing not to work, and that we have more than the required finances to cover the rental. However, they decided that because our finances, and us, are not long in the UK they won't consider us. This agency applies their own prejudice criteria based on income, jobs and potentially against people coming from certain regions abroad, and unfairly refuse to allow prospective tenants an opportunity to make an offer to landlords. For both tenants, and landlords, this means tenants are missing out on properties, and landlords are potentially missing out on good offers from financially secure and professional tenants. I understand there are restrictions during Covid, but the method this agency uses to determine who can go for a property is discriminatory and unfair, and given that no other agency has applied this criteria to us or has an issue with our having only recently returned from abroad, clearly is not in line with fair practices in the UK.

My partner and I had an extremely poor experience attempting to buy a property listed with White and Sons. When we originally viewed the property White and Sons did not call us to gather feedback and we did not hear from them until we called ourselves to make an offer. We were told that our offer was formally accepted only to be told a few days later that the offer had actually not been accepted. Once we had a higher offer accepted, the process was extremely slow with no effort made on White and Sons part to make contact with the vendor who seemed unresponsive to solicitor queries. As the sale progressed and we received notice of which items the vendor was taking and leaving, we were notified that a large integrated item White and Sons had explicitly told us would definitely be included in the sale, was being removed by the vendor. As we predicted, the sale eventually fell through, we were notified through our solicitor and six months on have still never had any communication from White and Sons to explain why the sale fell through or to offer their services in helping us search for another house. Luckily, we had a completely different experience with another local estate agents and are extremely happy in our new home.

We rented out a flat in Reigate for a period of 9 Months. We were there only as a place to sleep whilst working (which was very little). Never-the-less we kept the flat clean and tidy and made sure the grass in the small garden was cut regularly.
On moving out we were shocked to see the minor details that had been highlighted in the check out report. They stated items were missing that could clearly be seen in the photos. They reported the garden was in a much worse state, despite the photos showing almost exact matches with check in. They said we had made new cracks in the freezer drawer that could be seen in the photos taken on check in. They went through the well worn carpet and photographed any tiny spec that hadn't been photographed on check in.
Bare in mind when we moved in there were lightbulbs not working (which we replaced), Mould in the shower (which we removed), sprouting rotten vegetables in the cupboards and a very dirty greasy oven (that was sparkling when we moved out).
We were disgusted to hear how much of our deposit was being taken from us as a result.
My advice would be to avoid using this agency. The check in/out company they use are either incompetent or dishonest. If you do decide to use them, make sure you check and double check the check in report. Photograph everything! Every socket, every inch of carpet. However, still expect to have to fight for your deposit back.
As a positive I did find the staff at White and Sons to be friendly and polite but unfortunately they are massively let down by the company they use for check in and check out.

I’m absolutely delighted to say that Philip and his team at White & Sons are that exception and that buying a home doesn’t need to be stressful.
If you don’t want to read my full review, here’s a three word summary: Experienced. Professional. Fair.
A bit more detail follows... Throughout the purchase of my new home Philip and the team kept me updated on progress. I did not need to chase for updates once as the team were across everything.
The team also offered advice / recommended service providers such as solicitors and surveyors.
Now, a cynic that has used larger, national chain estate agents in the past would most likely think “They’re only recommending them as they probably get a kickback”.
Don’t make this mistake and put your trust / faith into Philip and the team and you will be rewarded because, this absolutely not the case.
Philip and the team are experts in the Dorking / Surrey Hills area for a reason. They have years of experience and with that comes local knowledge. They know who to work with and who to avoid to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The team will make recommendations based on the trust and the personal relationships that they have spent years building with suppliers. They recommend them for a reason. They, like Philip and the team, are local experts and, as such - everything progresses smoothly without any issues.
If Philip and the team are recommending someone - listen. If you need advice, ask. They are doing this for you and everything they do is in your interests not theirs!
My purchase progressed without any issues thanks to my decision to put my trust into this advice.
The only challenge in the process was, of course, negotiating a completion date. There were lots of moving parts including new borns due to arrive! Again, Philip and the team managed this perfectly - ensuring all parties feedback was taken on board to find a suitable and fair conclusion that worked for everyone.
I have never had such an easy home purchase and I wholeheartedly recommend Philip and the team and cannot thank them enough.

My house hunt has been quite a long drawn out process. I’m a first time buyer and it took me several months to ‘get my eye in’ and relax and understand the market and to get a sense of the variety of properties available to me. All the way through this past year Tom and Phil and Ollie and Maddy have been wonderfully kind, patient, human and encouraging towards me. They are all consummate professionals while at the same time lovely human beings who completely understand that moving home is an emotional journey. Tom and the team have made this journey actually fun for me and as I prepare now to complete on the purchase of my new home and get the keys in June I feel relaxed and at ease and very happy. You guys are a super team and I will always recommend you to other people.
I’d also like to wave warmly towards Rosie the wonderful secretary at Whites HQ who has been friendly and encouraging all the way through and also to Nina and Laura the Saturday staff members. You truly are one lovely family.
While waiting for my house purchase to happen I’ve also had the pleasure of renting a house in Dorking through White and Sons. Mike and June and Deborah and Jane have been great to work with...it was June’s imaginative suggestion that the house I ended up renting might suit me well. Mike is the essence of a person who is a devoted professional and also a courteous friendly decent guy, and Deborah helped me feel reassured and confident about the whole process of renting a house as a stop gap for six months. And Nicki in the maintenance department has responded to a couple of minor issues (a dripping tap and an extractor fan that wasn’t working) with speed and friendliness, sending a plumber or electrician to investigate within a few hours.
Altogether, guys, you rock! We are lucky to have you here in Dorking. I hope I won’t be buying another house again any time soon but if I ever were to do so I’d be coming back into your office without delay.

I am the recent owner of the freehold of a block of 5 flats that are very capably managed by White & Sons. At the beginning of the year when I was on vacation on literally the other side of the world I learnt from the local Authorities that sewerage from the block of flats was draining in to the local river. I was given 2 weeks to address this. I was aghast at the terrible pollution that this was causing and I did not know how to correct the problem from where I was. I decided to contact White & Sons. They were fantastic. Justin Theobald immediately handled the administrative angle as well as the legal issues. Debbie Webber helped find surveyors and water drainage experts. The problem was isolated. It was evidently a misconnection of the sewerage drains that occurred 14 years ago!! Debbie helped find the most suitable contractor to correct the misdirected sewerage which involved tunneling under the road and also a professional engineer to make sure that the reconnection work was correctly done. She was instrumental in appointing a very capable project manager. The problem has now been resolved and the local river is happily no longer being polluted. I cannot but express my deepest gratitude to Debbie and Justin who were so helpful in correcting such a massive problem and in the case of Debbie still providing ongoing support. White & Sons are indeed a wonderful company who, with staff like Justin and Debbie, I would recommend any day.

White and sons, Dorking sold our last house in a most efficient and speedy way (for a good price too) and, now that we are older and our needs have changed, it seemed natural to turn to them again in order to find our next home.
Our needs are very specific and Whites certainly listened to our (fussy) requirements. Without a constant barrage of emails and paperwork they have diligently kept us up to date with the various properties new to the market. At present, nothing has popped up that exactly matches our needs but the ever-patient and empathic Negotiator cheerfully and happily keeps us "in the loop"" and, despite several viewings, does understand that our needs/wants are important to us....and that we are prepared to wait for what we want.

If I could rate this company less than one I would. Their leggings office in dorking is a joke. They don’t know what their doing. Don’t do their due diligence to establish who the freeholders are of the flats they rent. Breach the ombudsman code of practice left right and centre and then make no effect to correct their mistakes. Palm off every complaint with ‘it’s not my responsibility’. Utter jokers. Need to be investigated and closed down. Fast.

Terrible service from rentals. Improve the place and they charge you for your efforts. They replace smoke detectors and try charging you for the ones they took away. Reported a leaky roof to them and it was still leaking 4 years later. Moved in with a rusty bath, reported it and left with the bath in the same condition. They only changed the windows when they were literally falling out. Boilers and tanks out of regulation told to us by them not intrested in fixing them. They make no effort. They lie and give you false information to try and cover there agents. Appalling show. Will never rent with them and have now warned people away. They think they can raise your rent with just 1 weeks notice. Your in contract when it suits them and out of contract when it suits them. Good riddance.
