Discourteous unpleasant young guy in Lowestoft branch encountered earlier today. I called in to request sales brochures and was met with an argumentative boastful brash sales man who insisted that they had
1. never had a listing for a property that in fact had appeared upon their website for months and had been in negotiations in July, as I had previously asked about a viewing, and.....
2."There is no falling market, I disagree" and he kept saying how much he had disagreed long after I told him that it was not worth him defending. He also told me how I should not trust official figures. Guess the bank mortgage lending figures are just a work of fiction!!! Or try the Land registry figures and look at the asking prices verses what the actual achieved completed show......
In my experience of searching for property I feel that WH Brown due tend to over value, for comparable properties listed cheaper with other agents, but look at the Reduced tags on Rightmove, there lays your undeniable answer......
And next time someone whom is in a position to purchase, having sold and ready to go steps into your branch, at least look at them without sighing and making them feel like you really couldn't be bothered

Anyone who’s looking to sell with William H Brown - steer clear. Before we signed the contract, it was all positive. We spoke about all these ideas and things they would do to try and secure a sale. We had promises of lots of investors and cash buyers who are on their books who would be contacted. Nothing ever came of it once we were tied into a contract. They didn’t even give us an update on ‘all these investors’ and why suddenly these all disappeared into thin air. We had NO update at all.
We were meant to have a weekly catch up call, which never happened. The only time we had calls were to ask about the progress of the renovations on our end - nothing about their progress at all. We were completely in the dark about everything they were doing to try and sell the house - which was NOTHING.
They got us ONE viewer and even they were lied to about the house, as they thought the house was completely different, which was a waste of everyone’s time. I travelled a 6 hour round trip and paid out expenses to clean the house ready for the viewing which lasted all of 2 minutes. The least they could do was make sure the potential buyer knew the basic details of the house. If this was done, they would have known straightaway that the viewer was looking for something completely different.
I’ve since spoken with a few other sellers who have had awful experiences with them. I’ve also spoken with other local estate agents who have said the same.
It was a complete waste of time as they never achieved anything. The lack of updates on their end prove that they were doing nothing, as they simply had nothing to tell us.
When we gave our notice to leave, we received a threatening call. One of the team called to say that we owe them thousands as we are in breach of our contract - which we weren’t at all! We asked for a call from the manager, where it was clarified that we handled everything as we should have. I don’t appreciate the threats when all we did was give our notice!!

My sister and I had our houses valued initially by Aldreds. The agent spent barely 10 minutes, asked no questions and had clearly made his mind up on the value before he walked in. What a difference with William H Brown. Joe was polite and friendly and really looked at the properties, asking questions relating to the boiler, kitchen etc and brought research on recent sold prices which had partly informed his valuation. We have since viewed a property with Lindell who was just as polite and didn’t make us feel rushed or laugh when we tested the sound proofing between rooms! We haven’t listed our properties yet but when we do it will be with William H Brown whose staff raise it head and shoulders above the competition.
