The Estate Agent came round to value my home and suggested an asking price which seemed fair. I had I think 6 viewings and 4 offers within just over a week. They suggested that I went with the family who were not in a chain, and as I was not purchasing straight away, it was assumed (foolishly) that it would be a quick and straightforward sale. I signed the contract in August but unfortunately due to problems with the purchaser changing solicitors and other reasons out of my control, it was another 5 months before completion but the Estate Agents did actively chase. A date was confirmed so I booked for the removal people but then the Estate Agency repeatedly pushed to complete sooner at the last minute. Given that I had to wait 5 months, I wasn't prepared to reschedule the removers as it would have been an additional cost to myself. Oh and I didn't realise that it was 1.2% plus VAT! It's not cheap selling a property.... Read more
