We had such a positive experience buying our new home, and a huge thank you has to go to Owen for all his help throughout the process.

From the very beginning, Owen was friendly, helpful and incredibly proactive. He kept us updated every step of the way, was always happy to answer our questions and regularly chased things up to keep everything moving. Having someone who communicated so well made such a difference, particularly towards the end when things became a little stressful!

We really felt that Owen went above and beyond to help us get over the finish line. We’re so grateful for all his help and would absolutely recommend him to anyone buying or selling a home.

Thank you, Owen, for helping us get the keys to our new home! ????????????... I'm taking the time to edit this here, as I said to the assistant letting manager today after chatting about the earlier review.

Update: It was good to meet in person and get clarification.

To add some context, I went to the agency to receive some support, and as I entered the office, I asked for the assistant letting manager as they were involved in our Tenant Switch process. The person in question was super helpful explaining the concept of group of landlords, which can sometimes make the process a little longer - that is something I completely understand now. Thank you.

Finally, the assistant letting manager after supporting me, asked me about the one-star review I had left (see below) and took the time to explain to me they were on annual leave and hadn't been told about the calls received from us.

They really tried to get to the bottom of this and to understand who had tried to direct us in the meantime. I apologized for our lack of awareness and actually felt sorry that they had to come back to these more emotionally-charged requests, when it was actually the admin team process that took a very long time to handle everything.

The conclusion is that we are back on track with a reliable person who showed great patience and care to keep us happy and feel respected and heard :) I'm leaving this new score even not a high one for how the episode had been handled when the person was on annual leave and "callbacks before eod" that were overpromised by others (when it wasn't actually possible). It was much better to have full transparency, thank you and all the best!

First review:

After no reply and us chasing for a month and not getting callbacks when we were told we would ( 7 times ), we get the most unapologetic email back from assistant lettings manager. It just makes one feel treated like dogs who are begging for the simplest professional treatment. I had to insist and insist on one last phone call to say how worried we were, and that we didn’t mind coming to the branch in person if it helped, in order to be taken seriously.

We really hope that other SF tenants who have been put in the hands of the assistant letting manager in question will receive better and more humane support.... I went to rent a house from this agency in Heddington, the agents are very deceitful and try to force you to pay 0 deposit scheme and then they force you to take out insurance to your personal belongings, they lie that owner doesn't accept without something like that, when I wanted to pay full deposit, he just wants to scam you to make you pay monthly fees and to avoid pay full deposit. I applied to three houses, of which he told me they rejected me, but I applied that I didn't want a zero deposit and I didn't want insurance, they called me, talked to us on the phone for five minutes and suggested that it would be better to put in a zero deposit offer and The insurance and I told them that I was convinced to pay the deposit that I would get it back at the end of the rent they said ok I will send your offer to lanlord and in less than two minutes after I hang up the phone he sent me an email that the lord refused my offer. lying to make you pay extra for their company month after month insurance and zero deposit that.with other companies you pay a certain amount as insurance and that's it, not with them you have to pay month by month, I don't recommend the most fraudulent agency... We rented a flat with SF for one year and it was not a happy experience, particularly the checkout. They are charging ridiculously high fees (nearly 2000 pounds) after we checked out from the property, asking us to even pay for electric bills before our tenancy start date. We tried to negotiate and asked for the invoices for their charges, they kept delaying the process and giving clearly AI generated responses. It has been over a month now and we are deciding to go to adjudication.... Read more

Thieving ****s. We paid for a professional end of tenancy clean and they still have the audacity to try and charge us £530 because the house is "dirty" and "items were left behind". The only item we actually left behind was a soap dispenser which certainly doesn't cost £200 to remove. We will see you at tribunal and I will never rent with you again.

Ps their zero deposit alternative scheme is an utter scam.... Read more

I paid Oxford rent for the full length of my tenancy without complaint. What I got on the way out was a list of proposed deductions that reads less like a damage assessment and more like a final attempt to squeeze something extra out of me before I left.
Nearly £600 for a set of curtains. Curtains that in my opinion couldn't even block out the son.

Are you buying these from Buckingham Palace? For that price I'd expect them to arrive with a coronation. No invoice was provided, no proof of what they actually cost.

What makes it worse is the absence of basic common sense around the whole thing. There had already been an issue when my flatmate washed the curtains. The landlord raised concerns, and I understand Scott Fraser were meant to contact me about how they should be cared for
They didn't reach out to me.
No warning. No instructions. Not a single message to say I was apparently living alongside a £600 piece of royal upholstery requiring specialist handling. But when the time came to take money off a tenant, communication became remarkably prompt.

Then there's the curtain pole, £200, apparently, which was already broken when I moved in. Their own check-in photographs should show exactly that. So I've spent my mornings trawling through inventory pictures to prove I never touched something I never touched. A wonderful use of anyone's time.

All of which raises the obvious question: what is a deposit actually for? It exists to cover genuine damage, evidenced with genuine costs. Not to sit there as a pot to be dipped into on the way out, with the tenant left to argue their way back to their own money, and most people, worn down and already moved on, simply won't bother. That's the part that bothers me most. I suspect this works far more often than it should.

I cannot recommend this agency to anyone in the Oxford.... Read more
