Our house took 1 year and 2 months to complete and we were kept in the dark throughout by Douglas Allen - they were awful at getting back to us and when we did finally get in touch, we were constantly lied to or they made excuses. At one point we weren't even aware that the chain had broken and was being rebuilt!
Mark is the most unprofessional and inept character I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with - Charlotte was just one of his puppets who I felt sorry for as she constantly had to cover for him. Jonjo was actually good at his job and he should be running the show there, not Mark! The 'sales progressor' acted more as a barrier to communication rather than an accelerator. I would never leave a property transaction in their hands - you'll get burnt!
No doubt they'll respond to this blaming solicitors or the builders at the top of the chain - who i'm sure share some of the blame - but this doesn't excuse them from the unprofessional manner by which they conduct their business.
Great service - polite, friendly, professional. Took care of any queries/issues with care and speed. Never caused us a headache once.

Can safety say I would never use this company again or recommend this company to anyone. They let us move into a property on a Friday evening with no shower. Said they would put us up in a hotel. Then when I called they had all left for the evening and weekend. Then I turned on what looked like a 20 year old fridge and found it was not working. Then in just 6 months we had our boiler, washing machine, pumping, toilet break. This is just the start of it. I understand things break and need fixing but it was the way Montagues made me feel like I was always a problem and never willing to help. We had so many problems with this property and promises after promises with this agency. Also promised there would be double glazing fitted within 6 months. 3 years down the road there is still single glazing which needs wiping every day because of the condensation and mould. They always made you feel like everything was a problem. The flat never felt like a home. Even now after moving out 16 months ago, I still have very strong feelings about the flat and Montagues. The director needs to attend a customer relations course to start the ball rolling. Then hopefully the staff will all fall into place. It really was 2 years from hell. Very sad. Thankfully I have found a letting agent that believe in looking after their clients and a house that feels like a home.
Initially unsure if we actually would move, Paul got us started and he was obviously listening! New house is exactly what I had in mind... Purchase was a breeze (very good sellers helped), but where the Agents, Lee in particular, came good was in the sale of our old house. Offer was accepted in a few days, but then the process needed 'massaging' due to a slightly awkward buyer. The team worked hard and the process (though it didn't always feel like it) was remarkably quick. Thoroughly recommended.
2 weeks ago I sold my house with Balgores Hayes in Ongar. The service and help I received throughout the process especially from Lee Davey and Paul Hayes was outstanding and I wanted to say a big thank you!!
