Property listings are matched to data from the Land Registry by our clever algorithm. Clever as it may be, it isn't always right, especially if a property was listed by multiple agents. Beware of this company, they need constant chasing to get anything done.
We rented from Barrie Alderton for 6 months and it was awful.
-The first mistake was that the written contact said 12 months when we had verbally agreed to 6.
-the house wasn't clean when we moved in, the bathroom was particularly mouldy- the shower curtain was stuck to the bath with mould.
- the house had a number of issues, some of which were sorted, some weren't, but generally I had to email and ring them endlessly to get anything done.
- in the end I threatened to go to environmental health which prompted them to send a senior member of staff around to look at the house and make lots of promises that where never acted upon.
- various handy man came and went no work was done.
- at one point they sent a handyman around to paint black Bitumen paint in the corners of most of the rooms (not actually where the mould was) they didn't tell us that was what they were doing so when me and my three-year-old got home we had quite a shock. My daughter found this distressing.
- towards the end of our 6 months' tenancy, before we had handed in our notice they rang me to ask if a family could look around the house – they had put it on right move and we didn't even know! I assumed the landlord had given us notice but they had not told us. The Landlord was away so we didn't know if our tenancy was coming to an end for over two weeks. I spoke to the manager who was apologetic and said he would be doing everything he could to find out what was happening but we never heard back and I had to ring and email to get the issue resolved.
-When we left we didn't hear about our deposit for three weeks so again I started chasing. Eventually we got part of the deposit back but they tried to keep some money to re decorate over the black paint.
-They provided a receipt for a post tenancy clean that was dated from before we had even moved into the house.
We disputed this and I sent screen shots of emails I had sent over the six months with my various complaints and saved it as a PDF, and said we wouldn't pay for any work without dated, detailed receipts, they gave us our full deposit back. After I sent the final email with the PDF attached I had to email twice just to get an acknowledgement of the email let alone an answer to the question of our outstanding deposit.

DISGUSTING SERVICE!!!

These guys are a joke, I have honestly never received such consistently poor service from a letting agent.

RUDE RUDE RUDE RUDE

...I could go on further, but i'd rather not waste any more time on these idiots.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM - especially students.
- unfortunately despite before my tenancy several friends telling me not to rent via them I did. BIG MISTAKE. they seem v. nice at the start but will completely lie to your face and actually be incrediblu un-proffesional. They will bounce you between contacts to ignore issues that will benefit them.
- Absolutely gutted and demoralised because of Barrie Aldertons. They are criminal. Lost money on my deposit for no reason despite going through TDS !! They just didn't acknowledge us or anything. Despite leaving the property in the same condition (if not cleaner!) then when we moved in. They are you're typical desperate institution with vacant and hollow things to say to customers.
- Honestly every Brightoner I know I will tell not to go to Barrie Alderton! Because they are liars and insincere! Straight up there is no way they can justify it. Im suprised the staff can sleep at night and still turn up for work.

Very very dissapointed as I was nice to them the whole time and wish I wasn't now! Causing the future generation a lot of stress, thats completely unneccessary, just so Barrie Alderton can cop a few extra £££ - really a shambles of a business. Especially as its family run even stranger... obviously some deeper issues going on there...

Anyhow hope you guys can sort your stuff out.

P.S. again no one should rent a property through Barrie Alderton, even if its a good property. It will be tarnished in your memory with them.

Yours sincely dissapointed.
