Myself and 3 other tenants in one of the properties that Brices manage have had a few terrible experiences. After two and a bit months of a consistent leak through the ceiling, they only started communicating to us after a review on Google. No compensation was given to us. Now, a broken blind and window that was said to be fixed within the week, has been almost two months with little to no signs of said being fixed without a payment being made from us. When we refused and got told to speak to the manager, Louise had no idea of the situation and told us she would have to investigate this despite the amount of time that had already accrued. Then accused myself of being aggressive and couldn’t see my side of my frustration to the lack of privacy we have as there are contractors on the scaffolding just outside of our blindness window. The staff members at this establishment seem to be confused that, yes it is just a job for them, but it is in fact our home that they are neglecting and if it was on the other foot, I’m sure they would not be best please. But as you can probably guess, no compensation will be gained for us. Would not recommend letting through this agency!

Staff are friendly over the phone can’t fault them there. Moved into our new place in June.
However, we have had a leak in our flat which we reported shortly after moving in. Action only begun about 2 weeks ago. A leak from the flat above has left us with electrical problems and tremendous damp patches across the walls/ceiling. We’ve been told that, despite the issue persisting over the last 3/4 months, they are allowing “reasonable time” it to be fixed.
Had they co-ordinated in a timely manner perhaps the property we are renting would not be in the state it is now in.

I had a very good experience with this estate agent and bought my first home through them in Sept 2023. Alex and Sam were a really helpful and knowledgeable team who managed the sale process. What was really useful was their straightforward, transparent approach and in depth knowledge of the local property market, and the experience was more individualised than elsewhere. I found this approach much better to deal with than some of the larger estate agents operating in the area. Would definitely recommend.

I have nothing but very positive things to say about Brices. I bought, rented and sold through them! In what was a highly complex sale, Louise was professional and responsive but also really cared on a personal level.
Not many people could have help the sale together but Louise managed to keep everything going.

Engaged in extortion to force my friend and her partner to continue paying rent in full while living in a flat with a dangerous and crumbling kitchen. They were left in rubble for a weeks before anything was done about it, and received zero compensation. And this was long before the pandemic so there’s no excuse. Disgusting.

Louise and her team really understand the complexities of buying and selling in Brunswick Square. They know the quirks of the diversity of properties and their myriad layouts; from basements to balconies. Having engaged another estate agent who I had hoped might leverage their strong London connects, I realised that what I really needed was expertise in selling what it means to own and live in such a landmark location. Alex and Louise were great, from the first point of contact to the last, relief soaked handover of keys.
If you are looking to buy or sell in Brunswick Square you will find no agent better equipped to advise nor with greater knowledge than Brices.

My purchase was very difficult and drawn out during the testing time of covid restrictions. Louise was always professional, she did her best for both the seller and for me the buyer. The purchase had many problems due to personal circumstances first for the seller and than in the last week I had problems with my lender. Moving is stressful at the best of times, but the team at Brices went above and beyond to make the whole experience smooth. We looked at many places and Alex was the only agent to actually show us a property. He knew the landlord and the home, and it made us feel at home right away. Louise and the team went above and beyond throughout my entire experience with them. Nothing was too much trouble and they really did go 'the extra mile'. They are knowledgeable and professional yet friendly and approachable. Due to the bad weather we have had recently, I have had various maintenance issues arising and they were always on hand to resolve and organise any help needed! Even at 10 o'clock at night, speaking to Louise or Ellie, they organised work to be carried out in a timely fashion and I really feel that they cared. We placed our home on the market in February 2018 listing it with a number of high street agents and an independent in the area. We received an offer through the independent within a week of listing with them. Unfortunately, due to poor management the sale fell through. It was an extremely difficult time and the market was deteriorating.
We became disillusioned and dissatisfied with estate agents and removed our listing from them all.
We decided to find one agent with an in depth knowledge and experience of selling properties in Brunswick and Palmeira Squares. Brices appeared to be a perfect fit. We were impressed with the fact that they also included VR in their online advertising.
Louise introduced us to Alex, who would be the agent looking after us. He very quickly found two interested parties, but they like us, were caught in the property slump and needed to move to exchange on their properties.
During this very difficult time, Alex was a continuous support and encouragement, both to us and our potential buyers. He always remained positive and never lost his committment and belief in our sale.
He co-ordinated and managed the process perfectly and we are indebted to him.
We cannot recommend Brices and Alex in particular highly enough.

Initially my wife and I used Brices to manage our flat. Jason did a grand job finding tenants quickly and making sure everyone's needs were met (ours and the tenants). Jason was competent, friendly and always a pleasure to speak with.
When we decided to sell the flat, Alex looked after the viewings and sale process. Again, professionalism and humour were prevalent part of our interaction. The flat was on the market for longer than we expected, but Brices never let it slide to the back. They continued to cleverly market the property until an interested buyer was found and the sale completed.
Thank you Louise for putting together such a strong team. I would recommend Brices to anyone looking for experienced and efficient Estate Agents.

Excellent service from the Brices team. Alex showed our property to prospective buyers and we found him efficient, reliable and genuine. He managed to secure an offer for our asking price. Louise then took over at the solicitor stage and I honestly think that without her input it wouldn't have progressed-it wasn't a straightforward sale. We exchanged today (!!) but I would have written the review anyway-highly recommend them.

There was no pushiness or curtness which I have experienced with some of the big agencies. No constantly trying to persuade me to meet with their mortgage adviser when I already have my own.

Having had a really, really bad experience trying to buy my first property with Baron Estates I was nervous in going ahead with another sale. Jason is a top star! Friendly and welcoming made our move very easy. We were stuck between two flats they had and he offered a lot of advice and details about both flats to help us choose. The paper work and moving arrangements were done quickly. Leah was very helpful in getting contracts signed due to a family emergency I couldn't make it down to do it in person.
The standard of their property was clean and tidy well maintained

I've known the staff at Brices for many years. Mostly dealt with Louise, Ellie and Jon but everyone in the team does a great job.
Initially they were my agent when I was a tenant looking to rent. I then rented out my own property through them and later also sold my property through Brices. I can honestly say that they are one of the few great state agents out there were all the staff are professional and they do a great job. They do not disappoint.
They give great importance to finding you suitable tenants. I've never had any problems with my tenants thorough out the years and when it came to selling my property they did a great job finding me a buyer quickly and also very good at communicating with me through the process always keeping me informed of what was happening.
I've always recommended Brices to people I know and I know for a fact that the've been happy with Brices after having used them.
They are a small but top state agent. With friendly approachable staff but more importantly they are very professional. No need to look elsewhere.

From the beginning of our buying process we have been in good hands with Jon Brown at Brices Sales and Lettings. He has really made us feel at ease for first time buyers. Poppy and I have never felt like a burden to Jon he has been really professional, answering all our emails and phone calls within hours and explaining everything so clearly. Jon really sold the property to us with a charming warm approach, and he really helped us visualise living there but was also very genuine with the negative aspects to the property. We are so excited everything is finally all complete and we can't thank Jon enough!.....even when he had an emergency in the office during one of our appointments he didn't cancel but sent his trusty colleague Jason to the rescue!

I bought a flat via Brice and my contact was Jon. He is the best estate agent I have ever dealt with. Very professional, hard working, a great communicator he made the whole process stress free. Jon was extremely fair to both sides in the sale. He didn't pull any of the tricks I had encountered with other chain estate agents who try to inflate the price by pretending there are a string of other buyers, that suddenly vanish into thin air as soon as you offer a tiny bit more! He also didn't push me into using a certain financial advisor for my mortgage to make more money for the company and then threaten that I wouldn't be first to see new properties if I didn't comply - I hate it when they do that! Jon is the best. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Having been given the run around by another estate agent (who shall remain nameless, the cunning bunch) I then viewed and purchased a property through Brices and I was absolutely delighted with the service. I felt very well looked after throughout the process, which was invaluable to me as a first time buyer, and they pulled out all the stops to hasten my purchase when I was faced with sofa-surfing. Alex and Jon were always on hand to answer my questions, they were always honest (even with the occasional bit of bad news) and I have now recommended them to my partner in his first house purchase. I was especially touched by my house-warming present from them and would absolutely deal with them in future.

Over the last 8 years I've been with 6 estate agents in Brighton. Some good some bad. Brices were by far the worst. As I'm sure its not their intention to do so, the circumstances of my situation revealed that they were very clumsy at ironing out my issues, and superbly talented at taking my money. I raised the issue that my flat had condensation issues multiple times. Eventually my entire ceiling began to crack and rain water was entering my flat continuously. For the remainder of my tenancy, Brices did not fix this issue. I had no choice but to leave the flat. For 1 entire month I lived in a hazardous environment, and it was contractually illegal to not fix and repair the situation immediately. On top of this, 75 % of my deposit was taken from me. I even had to battle them on getting back my last month rent. The flat also had underfloor heating installed, but I later got confirmation from British Gas that the Energy Plan was never changed to fit according appliances. My energy bills were triple the amount they should have been...! The energy certificates provided to me at the start of my tenancy were not matched to the renewed appliances. I spent up to 15£ a day heating my flat. And with the condensation I was advised to open my windows and air the apartment. In January. When I left I had to ask for a reference, so I could move to a new house. They even charged me for that! After all I had been through they still decided to take more of my money.
Sorry Brices, but you know you should have acted differently here.

I decided not to renew my contract with this agent because i couldn't get anything done in time to improve the overall living standards of the property which ultimately affected my well-being. I gave my notice in writing and handed over the property in a better condition than i found it. Alas the agent didn't want to give me back my deposit. Their level of professionalism is definitely way below the belt and it makes me wonder why they are there simply to frustrate people and not fulfill their obligations.

i was selling my brother's flat after he died. i don't live near Hove so couldn't be hands on. Alex and the Brices team were wonderful from start to finish - efficient, reassuring, helpful, good value. more then once they went that extra mile to make the sale happen and help me out. i would highly recommend them

I have recently purchased a property through Brices and the quality of service received has been outstanding. They're a professional team who I felt were with me every step of the way through my first home purchase and having come up against a few issues they helped in every way possible and from looking at a possible completion date of Feb'15 they got me into the property in Nov'14 !
I would highly recommend Brices and have been thoroughly impressed with the service provided. I had the most dealings with Jon who was fantastic however everyone I dealt with was great.

I have only just started my tenancy with Brices, but I would like to underline how helpful they already have been to me. Since I am from overseas, I had some payments problems, and they were really helpful, spending their Saturday helping me finding solutions in order to make me move into my flat on the due date.
If all of the tenancy goes on like this, it would probably be a very enjoyable one.

Best estate agents in Hove! Cannot recommend them enough!!
I cannot recommend these guys enough. Initially when Emma first viewed the property I was renting out she was enthusiastic, personable and genuine, all qualities I often find difficult to find in estate agents. Everyone at Brice's however is exactly that!
I immediately went with them as I knew I would get a personal experience but from a very professional company. They didn't disappoint and in fact shocked me at how accommodating and helpful they were!! Very rarely do companies treat you as individuals and go beyond the call of duty, but this is exactly what Brice's did.
They told me they would rent it within a few weeks, and although I experienced a few difficulties, Brices overcame them and delivered on time.
They gave me a more than competitive price and tailored to my needs. When the property wasn't renting they listened to me and adjusted things accordingly so that the flat was rented out in time.
Jason went above and beyond, not only keeping me up to date on viewings but also providing advice and help even past working hours, just to ensure the property let quickly. (Even helping with some DIY tips!)
Louise and in fact the whole team was friendly, helpful and I really cannot thank them all enough.
Top class company, you'd be daft to use anyone else. (plus there's two office dogs!!)

Though I'd like to think I'm a fairly positive kind of guy, when it comes to finding a new home to rent, just the thought of having to deal with letting agents can easily dampen my day.. So it was a pleasant surprise when I found the flat for me, let through Brice's.
Jason took me round for a private viewing which gave me space to ask him and the previous tenant any questions.. He seemed to know more about the flat than most letting agents would and anything he didn't know he found out for me.. I fell in love with the property and Jason could see that. He wanted me in there and did what he could to make it possible, bearing in mind that, of course, the landlord is always the agent's first priority.
This showed me that this small yet successful sales and letting agent aim to treat prospective tenants like human beings looking for a home and not just a number that may or may not earn them a bit of commission.
The couple of bad reviews that I have read on here seem to be regarding property management. Brice's made it clear to me that once I was given the keys the landlord would be responsible for managing the property, not Brice's. For me they did everything they were supposed to do and more.
So far all in the office have been really friendly and helpful, even the sales team! I would certainly recommend them as an agent to anyone in the area looking to buy, sell or rent as a first point of call.

During each transaction Louise has been a pleasure to deal with and always extremely helpful and professional. Her knowledge of the Hove property market is second to none.

Seriously awful estate agents - the worst ones I have ever dealt with. Do not, do not use them.
Not only are they quick to shirk off any responsibility - they are also extremely rude and incredibly defensive. Instead of being apologetic for their short-comings/misunderstandings near the end of my tenancy, they proceeded to act in a very defensive manner, verbosely making threats and personal digs towards me. I was basically called a bully, when actually all I had done is speak assertively (several colleagues of mine were opposite me while I was on the phone and testified to that, because I was concerned that I had been rude! Phew). To be honest with you, it was like talking to a petulant teenager. When I tried to explain that I wasn't being aggressive, I was just trying to sort something out, I was met with more sneers.
I would say that they're all well and good, so long as they get your money and your signature. As soon as they have that then they are as rude to you as they like.
I didn't argue back because there is more to life. I'm a big believer in reputation, and as far as I'm concerned, if they really want to upset people enough in this already saturated market, then me arguing back isn't going to do anything. Their shortcomings speak for themselves.
I will not use them ever again, that's for sure and I'm glad to be rid of them. I'm also going to make sure that any friend or loved one in Brighton&Hove I have will not use them either (yes, that's how strongly I feel about the 'service' I received).

Why aren't there six stars? Louise and the team are exceptionally supportive and helpful I have rented for many years through Brices AND let my own property through them as well. Wicked tenant service and very efficient landlord facilities. Couldn't want for a better service.
Look at the number of agents that come and go in Brighton and you'll see Brices stood the test of time and turmoil on more than one occasion - there's a good reason for that!.
Recommend them 100%.

After being let down Fox & Sons lettings agency in Brighton, me and my partner had to find a suitable flat within 5 days otherwise we would have been homeless! Brices did everything thy could to help us out. and within 5 days we were moved into our beautiful new home.
