Largely positive experience as a buyer with generally good communication compared to the estate agent we were selling with.
We did have a bit of an issue with communication when trying to relay specific issues found in our survey, and in the end had to speak to the seller ourselves to ensure he had full context.
We also found sometimes our emails or requests weren't replied to once we got to later stages of trying to arrange the move in a chain. Rating reflects these elements of the customer experience.
Moving is always a stressful experience, but Bridgfords have at least been one of the better estate agent dealings I've had over the years.

First time going through a letting agent as a non student and it couldn't have been easier or smoother. Grace and Bryony in particular were so helpful, attentive and when I had copious questions about the contract (the only thing that difficult about the process was deciphering the jargon in the contract clauses) Grace was particularly helpful in talking me through what things meant and why they were in the contract. Every interaction with Grace and Bryony was a pleasure!

They called to arrange a viewing at short notice. I travelled to the property for the viewing, but nobody showed up. We were standing in the heavy rain for 30 minutes while two other parties who had viewings scheduled earlier left one after the other. Nobody called, nobody answered the phone, and the SMS does not work for replies. I paid £40 in taxi expenses to get there. Colossal waste of time and money.

As a Landlord I have used Bridgfords for nearly 20 years since leaving Manchester.
In recent years the service has really deteriorated. They do not look after the tenant and they do not communicate to the landlord. Such a shame but I would strongly advise all perspective customers to avoid this service and this agent.
I’ve been trying to cancel and move to another agent for 3 months and they won’t return any calls or emails.

We had rented a house through bridgefords. Our tenancy ended in September. And we have still not got our deposit back. The letting agency did not process the deposit release forms for over a month, for no good reason. Also they do not respond to emails. One has to send several emails ( literally) and wait for weeks to recieve any response.
In short, if one wants things done in reasonable time and professional level, this is definitely not the place.

Customer service needs to be worked on. As a tenant here I’ve noticed they rush you for your money; Isabella in particular did this - they constantly called and gave the excuse other people were interested in the property purely because they were under pressure to let.
After hurriedly making the payment needed communication dropped. They are so hard to get a hold of with no clarity regarding the contract or safeguarding (fire alarm checks, maintenance etc). A written contract should be one of the first things agencies provide so you as a tenant are aware of what you are walking into but be have had no information, only had to take Isabella’s words; verbally.
Unprofessional service. They do not even provide floor plans for their properties - this adds to their lack of awareness of what is going on.
There is a lack of care for you as a tenant and your protection/right as a tenant - they barely perform their duty and only care when it’s time to take your money.
Bridgford please work on your contracts and customer service - you need to do more for the tenants.

I have been struggling for 9 months to find a suitable home for me and my kids, so many people saying no for a unreasonable reasons. Then I came across bridgefords who dealt with my case in a professional and personal way that made me feel comfortable and looked after. I dealt with Isabelle who was absolutely amazing throughout the whole process of finding me a home. Quite frankly the worst letting agents I have ever had to deal with. The google reviews cannot be trusted as they ask for a review when you move in - and once you've done that, the problems start.
They are consistently rude, unhelpful and highly uncommunicative about any issues. The one called Isabelle is particularly nasty, will always shout over you on the phone and regularly tried to undermine our tenancy agreement by bringing prospective tenants over with no notice in the middle of lockdown, with no testing in place and going over the (legal!!) limits with number of people attending. She has no respect for us or the tenancy agreement and her attitude was absolutely appalling when we tried to bring up these issues. I don't understand how she is still working there.
Our deposit has also not been returned to us for over a month, and after asking multiple times over we were told we never paid a deposit. Only after a month of us consistently ringing and emailing have they admitted that the landlord has the deposit, and that they can't or won't contact him.
It seems that lies and deceit are common at bridgfords, they will be lovely to you when you apply for the property and once that has happened you will be dropped entirely. They lie about communications when they are clearly too lazy do anything about it themselves, and are only interested in getting your money from you. I can't even say they have bad customer service because there is no service whatsoever. Hands down the worst letting experience I have ever had in my life.
Do yourselves a favour and never ever give these people your time or money.

Needed to find a new place to move to at relatively short notice. Found a flat with Bridgfords and spoke with Jessica to get more information about the flat.
After a couple of day, Jessica was able to help out with everything I needed, helped answer the small questions I had due to my own inexperience in renting, and then passed me on to Isabelle to handle the rest.
They both have helped a lot in this process, being very friendly and prompt with their help. The whole process could have been much harder, but it has felt like I've been guided through the process with all the support I've needed.

I rented from Bridgfords during the COVID pandemic, the landlord of the property was illegally gaining entry to the property, letting himself into the house and harassing us often. We reported this to Bridgfords who advised us to end the tenancy, promising they would support our deposit dispute and provide a letter as evidence that the landlord was harassing us and claimed they wouldn't continue to work with the landlord. When we followed their advice they suddenly refused to provide the letter - they told us that the member of staff we had been in contact was on leave, which was then revealed to be a lie so that we would stop asking. They re-let the property and are continuing to work with the landlord whilst also emailing us often asking us to give up our deposit to the landlord. Wouldn't even advise my worst enemies to rent from this awful company.

The property i have recently signed to rent seems like amazing value for money, with large spaces, pretty aesthetic and in a great area.
I had a good time securing a house for next year, the woman who I dealt with, Isabelle Tollitt, was extremely professional and made everything very clear. I cannot express how much Bridgfords helped with the selling process; at every given opportunity they went they extra mile to ensure that the house sale went through in text book fashion.
I first made contact with Adam Gaulton after reading some good reviews, got a brilliant 3d walk around of the place, really nice, light pictures, and importantly Adam and the team (most notably Seeta and Hannah) did the work to get the right buyer through the door and then everything could possible do to ensure the sale went through efficiently.

I cannot thank and recommended Jess and Isabelle enough. I was in a very tight spot as COVID had meant that there were no showings and my previous letting company had posted such bad photos on Rightmove that there was no interest whatsoever.
I asked Bridgfords to find me tenants not expecting much as kept being told how the market was not moving because of COVID.
Within 48 hours Jess had marketed it, great photos posted on rightmove and Isabelle was helping taking references by the end of the week with a move in date in place.

Rebecca, Senior Property Manager, has been really great to work with and always promptly responds to our emails, following up with polite and friendly phone calls if there is any delay from our end/to update us on issues.
Issues are now resolved more quickly and we are kept in the loop with reasons if there are any delays.
Old review for info:
The Lettings team in Withington were really lovely, accommodating and friendly. However, the property management team that take over once you are inside the property have not been the best. Our property was not ready for move-in at the time we had agreed which was disappointing. There have been several change overs of staff with little to no handover of what is happening with the property which can be frustrating. There can also be quite a delay in hearing back from the team when issues are raised.

Bridgfords, and Sian in particular, were incredibly helpful in supporting us buy our first home. Sian was always happy to answer questions, be flexible with visits (including at inconvenient times for her) and was proactive in following up with the seller. Was Shown around a property by Dave and Faisal they turned up on time could not have been more helpful knew the answers to all our questions on of us couldnt make it and Dave suggested we facetime him didnt even think of this! honestly could not have been more helpful the proepry we viewed dint work out it was just out of our budget and they found us other ones we could have a look at, having dealt with other estate agents these guys are the best we dealt with.

It will be all smiles and fake-help until you actually sign a contract to rent with them and then they become an absolute joke. Funnily enough, even the slightest bit of competence would have saved everyone (including them) a LOT more hassle with the experience we had. Stewart was the manager at the time and he was absolutely horrendous to deal with. His response to us being burgled after a few days of repeatedly trying to get him on the phone (the forensic officer said it could've been prevented because the door lock was not insurance grade and the burglar alarm did not go off, even though we had been repeatedly asking for it to be repaired) was 'oh well, everyone gets burgled', with 0 sympathy, and 0 rush to refund us for having to call out an emergency locksmith which could all have been avoided should they have actually responded to our messages about the door/alarm in the first place!! Very very glad we have now since moved on from them. The 1 star is to the one person who was left to clean up Stewart and co's mess at the end, but everyone else deserves 0. Please save yourself the hassle and AVOID renting here.

Worst service we have ever had letting a place. Even makes me wonder if the other reviews are real or it is just than the sales and the letting department are completely different.
Problems started even before moving. We were supposed to moved in on the 15th of December. The 4 of us asked for the day off at work to do all the moving. When we arrived at the agency they look at us puzzled as they expected us a couple of days later even if all the emails that THEY sent us the date was clear. Despite agreeing on the move 3 weeks before the actual move, they didn't do the "background check" yet, so we could not move in that day but the day after.
Even if you think that that's already a big unprofessional thing, I have to tell you that that was a minor problem compared with the rest. We were shocked by the poor efficiency and communication. When we moved in several things were not right and (Obviously) said that they were going to be fixed in the next few days. Just to mention one, one of the rooms was missing a door handle. Meaning that if the door closes, you couldn't open it from inside. As you can imagine that is a big safety issue and even one day I had to leave work and come to rescue one of my housemates as she got trapped in her room. After several emails, several phone calls, and several trips to the agency. 6 months after the issue was reported we decided to fix it ourselves. The maximum that we got is "We are waiting for a quote". Unbelievable.
And that's just to mention two of the problems that we had. Other problems were things like:
- The house was not clean when we moved in (Previous tenants left forks, cookware, broken microwave etc...)
- We had a broken fridge when we moved in which was replaced with a fridge with half of the capacity (small fridge for 4 people, jokes...). The old fridge was left in the house and the option that they gave us to get rid of that was "Just leave it outside the house and somebody will pick it up at some point"
- When we renewed our contract, two tenants signed one copy, and two of the tenants signed another different copy (in the agency) when they realised it... the two first ones had to come back to sign it again....
Wrapping up... it was just a constant feeling of unprofessional behaviour that you don't expect when you are paying a well known company. The things that annoys us the most, it's the difference when you were contacting them at the beginning (really nice emails, quick replies) and when you were contacting them because of big issues (like the door handle) where no answer was the most typical answer.
We felt that they always were kind of "blaming" another colleague or part of their company (Bridgfords does not do "house management" officially but they have a company from their group, countrywide which does it for them). And for me that's jokes. You cannot have such a bad communication within your company....
Just to finish the experience as we started it.... it took us 50 days (and.... around 10 phone calls and 5 emails), from leaving the house to finally get them to tell us how much of our deposit they were taking.
I would not recommend this to anybody and I wonder if that is actually representative of what Bridgfords is.
EDIT: I just wanted to included that after 10 WEEKS of leaving the property they were late for the check out report (10 days was written in our contract, it took them over 3 weeks), and after agreement on the part of the deposit to return so far 35 days have passed when it´s meant to be a maximum of 28 days (And it´s still not in our account).
THE DAY AFTER I wrote this, and I emailed customer care I got a call apologizing and with the promise that the whole process was going to be faster. More lies.
To sum up this is your perfect choice of letting agent if you want to be chasing people all the time for even the most minimal thing and if you love to be treated really badly.

Recently, an excellent service has been provided by the Lettings Manager and his team. As a tenant, I feel like my needs are taken in to consideration and that I am a valued customer. The Lettings Manager and his team always listen to feedback and are excellent at providing help and support whenever it is needed. Improvements within the Property Management arm of the business have also been made, making it much easier to report problems and have them sorted.
Overall, an excellent service from them.

This is absolutely ludicrous as we only wanted an initial viewing of a property - we have not been asked this by any other estate agents in Greater Manchester. Disappointing as we are cash buyers and have been completely put off viewing houses with this agency.
