My experience of this company was shocking. As someone that has rented in multiple areas due to a job that moves often, I have never had such a terrible experience and I’m sad to say it made our time miserable.
Whilst initially starting off very friendly, Bridgfords quickly devolved into not being interested at all. That is, as soon as we’d signed a contract, they would only make contact if it benefited them.
All of the problems are registered by an online portal. This sounds reasonable, until you can’t physically see or speak to anyone, and weeks on end pass with you living in mould and rot.
We alerted Bridgfords to our rental, which the landlord at every turn made things difficult. We had mould on the inside bedroom, a flood in the basement, and mould coming through the walls in the kitchen. We were constantly trying ways to reduce moisture with dehumidifiers and heating but when the walls start crumbling with mould it’s just so depressing. We stopped using certain cabinets in the kitchen as mould grew and stopped using the wardrobe because our clothes were covered in spores and smelled awful.
Of course we alerted at every step the online portal, and the procedures were never classed as urgent, so months would pass before anything being fixed. A leak from the bathroom to the kitchen took months to get someone to attend and fix the leak.
The only communication from the lettings team was them advising us that the landlord wanted to put our rent up, and could we speak to them about paying more money per month?
Finally, we were so miserable despite loving the area we opted to move back in with family than continue living in the property. We finally got the management team of Bridgfords out with the landlord and they walked around the property as we showed them the number of things that had built up. The basement was now damp and cold as the flood had been left to dry by itself, and the carpet still wet where it was slowly drying out. The walls in the kitchen peeled with mould, and we had thrown away most of our food and were living with boxes on the table away from the cupboards. The upstairs bedroom had a line of mould down the wall towards the bed and there were clothes stands everywhere as we avoided the mouldy wardrobe. They were very quiet, and I thought they seemed shocked.
We moved out within two weeks of that and to my surprise, the property was LET WITHIN THE MONTH. No new work had been carried out. The new tenants were told that the mould would be fixed, but this was not done before they moved in. The listing on Rightmove featured photos from way before we moved in, so they were very out of date and misleading.
Bridgfords are still using this landlord despite seeing the state of the house and agreeing with us that the mould needed managing. Bridgfords allowed the property to be re-let as soon as we left, and I don’t think that’s responsible at all because they were doing viewings of a property knowing the issues with mould it has. To make matters worse, the landlord attempted to charge us because they want to charge us hundreds of pounds to redecorate for the mould- despite us knowing that they didn’t pay any costs to redecorate as the new tenants moved in. Thankfully we argued the case and have gotten the majority of our deposit back, but what a nightmare.

I expected much better from Bridgfords. When we moved in the flat was filthy and certainly hadn’t been “professionally cleaned” as they had assured us it would be. We lived there for a year and in that time they were not able to fix our shower and it took them months to fix our ceiling that was leaking water. I was told that the delays were due to them being unable to get in touch with the landlord because they didn’t have up-to-date contact details, which is absurd. They did manage some minor repairs, but the vast majority of things I reported were not dealt with.
However, the main issue I had with Bridgfords was how they handled the end of our tenancy. We were informed that the landlord was selling the property and so we would have to move out at the end of our tenancy (no issues contacting the landlord this time). On multiple occasions after this people came to view the property with no notice; we actually showed one lady round ourselves as the agent didn't even show up. I then started getting phone calls from a surveyor so I gave Bridgfords a call. I was told to ignore the surveyor as dealing with them was not my responsibility and would be handled by Bridgfords. Soon after, Bridgfords called me and asked why I hadn’t dealt with the surveyor… I explained that they had asked me not to, and they denied it and insinuated that I was either lying or confused about the situation. I ended up dealing with the surveyor, which was time consuming and definitely not my responsibility as a tenant. At the end of the tenancy I asked about returning our keys and they initially weren’t aware we were even moving out! Clearly they have some internal communication issues. The cherry on top was that they took ages to return our deposit because, surprise surprise, they couldn’t get in touch with the landlord. It's important to note that we did get our deposit back in full though.
Bridgfords have been all talk and no action. I’m now renting with another letting agent and it’s so refreshing how easy it is: if something is broken, they fix it. Having said this, Bridgfords definitely aren’t the worst letting agent I’ve dealt with, but they are disorganised and frustrating.

I must say that Lisa and the team at Didsbury did an excellent job in keeping me updated, even before my own solicitor sometimes, on how my sale was going. Lisa pushed for the sale continuously with the buyers solicitors for updates and kept on top of it all the time. The sale going through took a long time but that was down to the buyers solicitor not responding or communicating and nothing to do with the grand effort made by the team at Bridgfords. Ideal estate agents maybe if your name is John Smith or Karen Jones. The racism myself and my partner have experienced during our search for a property is shocking. Unfortunately this is not uncommon amongst all the estate agents when they pick and choose who can view which property purely based on your name. So disheartening when you get told you will get a call back and nothing! Then when you chase it up, There are no more viewings available as they are fully booked. Courtney from the Didsbury branch was particularly unhelpful and I’m sure this will resonate with her. Sad thing is, this undercover racism will continue as they can cherry pick who they want.

Horrendous experience from start to finish. House dirty when we moved in, constant maintenance requests ignored. Never answered the phone and incredibly reluctant to help.
3 months since we left still no deposit returned and being charged multiple deductions that are completely fabricated.
Couldn’t recommend this company less if you are looking to rent a property.

Booked a viewing for a house to buy and they never sent me any information.
I rang on the day of the viewing twice with no answer.
Also just heard bad things about bridgfords being really pushy with sales.
My friend rents with them and they have been a nightmare at communication so my experience backs this up!

Signed a contract with them and when moved into the flat neither the electric oven or boiler worked, went into the store and were told, very condescendingly, it would be user error and they couldn't get an engineer out until Monday, 2 days later. When engineer came out he found faults which should've been picked up in bridgfords inspection... something they clearly didn't do.
Failed to provide us with a front door key for the communal front door for 9 months!!!
Avoid at all costs, absolutely shocking customer service once they have taken your deposit.

Recently sold a property in Parrs wood and got fantastic support initially from Scarlett and then substantially from Lisa. We effectively sold twice as the first fell through due to chain issues at my end. Both times the support was excellent including attending the viewing days from which we got all the offers. Non responsive to Tennants or Landlords don;t carry out tasks agreed when original letting was made, terrible checkout report that they had to re-do after the fact which was a waste of time as they wouldn't follow through with anything which resulted in zero return to owner for a property left in a very poor state compared to when let. Terrible at contracts, we spent 2 years without a proper contract; terrible at servicing, we spent nearly 4 weeks without a fridge and terrible at repaying deposits.
They took over from JP Brimelow and conveniently lost all the faults we had reported over the years.
We moved out nearly 2 months ago and they are withholding our deposit unless we offer to pay for the most ridiculous things, all of which came up after a clear report and the keys were handed back.

I went through Bridgfords in Didsbury to rent my first apartment, Kate was very professional from the off and she knew a lot about the property and answered all questions and queries I had (I cant say that for other estate agents I used!).
Because it was our first time, she was extremely helpful and went out of her way to support with all the paperwork and explaining the process. I honestly cant fault Kate.

My daughter rents one of Bridgefords' properties in Didsbury. The agency is extremely slow to deal with repairs. They do not have an adequate response system to emergencies. No helpline. To me, they are ruled only by greed, do not really have any interest in the human side of the business. Quite disgraceful, as a little child was and still is living in a freezing cold flat. Check the complaint system bbefore even consider renting with this company. And also this is not letting me leave a review without a star, which I feel I should do.

We're coming to the end of a 2 and a half year tenancy with bridgfords and I can't express enough how awful they have been throughout.
Messing up payments as well as locking us out of our own house and leaving us without heating or hot water for 5 days in November.
I feel like I must warn everyone about this agency. I can't wait to move out even though I am only expecting to have problems with that as well.
I have rented for years with various different estate agents, and Bridgfords is the only one I have ever had problems with.

I bought my property through Bridgfords in Didsbury and I found they were (almost) the only estate agent in Didsbury village centre that actually wanted my business. I have subsequently let out the same property through them twice, and would not use anyone else. On both occasions, they found lovely tenants that were happy to pay the full rent, deposit and agreed to all my terms. Highly professional, great service, and they even calmed me down when I was let down by contractor and my house was a mess. In all my experience with property (purchasing three times, letting out twice) I have never met a more helpful and efficient group of estate agents. Strongly recommended.

Absolutely no issues at all during tenancy- it was only after the tenancy ended that the problems started. The main issue revolved around an accidental overpayment I made for rent. I made a rent payment for the month following the end of the tenancy, which indeed was totally my fault for not cancelling the direct debit. Fortunately, Bridgefords told me that they would transfer it back straight away.
Unfortunately, that did not happen. Not for seven weeks.
Every single week I would call Bridgefords to chase this refund. I would usually have to try multiple times in a week, as the phone would just ring out the first couple of times. When i finally got through, I would be told that "it was being sorted", or "the accounts department are processing it", yet a week later, after having not received the money, I would be fed the same story. One time, I was told I had to re-send my bank details because they "didn't keep them on record". One hour later, however, I received a call back from them explaining that they had "found them".
Another time, they told me that they had transferred the money to my old landlord instead. I distinctly remember this conversation, because at no point did the woman I was speaking to apologise for this, or even explain how and why it happened. She was so casual about transferring my money to the wrong person.
After seven weeks of continuous calling and calling, I have finally received the money back.
This was my first experience with letting, and it's such a shame that because of this, I will now refuse to ever use Bridgefords again, or recommend them to anybody I know. I understand that the problem was caused by my mistake, and I should accept some of the responsibility, but I was simply appalled with the lack of organisation on their part, and the terrible customer service I received.

I've been to several viewings with Richard Pomroy who was the first person to welcome me as I walked through the door. He logged the details of my buying requirements and offered possible properties that I hadn't noticed. The viewings were very professional in his knowledge of the properties and he even ferried me round in his car to maximize my time. I also gained a first viewing on a property by being 'logged' on their books and was able to make an offer. All credit to Richard for working for his vendor at this point (something I would have wanted) and unfortunately my offer was not accepted but he gave me every opportunity to try to seal that deal. Undeterred I shall be viewing again tomorrow. I'm sure together we'll find my perfect home.
