We're coming to the end of a 2 and a half year tenancy with bridgfords and I can't express enough how awful they have been throughout. Messing up payments as well as locking us out of our own house and leaving us without heating or hot water for 5 days in November. I feel like I must warn everyone about this agency. I can't wait to move out even though I am only expecting to have problems with that as well. I have rented for years with various different estate agents, and Bridgfords is the only one I have ever had problems with.

I bought my property through Bridgfords in Didsbury and I found they were (almost) the only estate agent in Didsbury village centre that actually wanted my business. I have subsequently let out the same property through them twice, and would not use anyone else. On both occasions, they found lovely tenants that were happy to pay the full rent, deposit and agreed to all my terms. Highly professional, great service, and they even calmed me down when I was let down by contractor and my house was a mess. In all my experience with property (purchasing three times, letting out twice) I have never met a more helpful and efficient group of estate agents. Strongly recommended.

Absolutely no issues at all during tenancy- it was only after the tenancy ended that the problems started. The main issue revolved around an accidental overpayment I made for rent. I made a rent payment for the month following the end of the tenancy, which indeed was totally my fault for not cancelling the direct debit. Fortunately, Bridgefords told me that they would transfer it back straight away. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Not for seven weeks. Every single week I would call Bridgefords to chase this refund. I would usually have to try multiple times in a week, as the phone would just ring out the first couple of times. When i finally got through, I would be told that "it was being sorted", or "the accounts department are processing it", yet a week later, after having not received the money, I would be fed the same story. One time, I was told I had to re-send my bank details because they "didn't keep them on record". One hour later, however, I received a call back from them explaining that they had "found them". Another time, they told me that they had transferred the money to my old landlord instead. I distinctly remember this conversation, because at no point did the woman I was speaking to apologise for this, or even explain how and why it happened. She was so casual about transferring my money to the wrong person. After seven weeks of continuous calling and calling, I have finally received the money back. This was my first experience with letting, and it's such a shame that because of this, I will now refuse to ever use Bridgefords again, or recommend them to anybody I know. I understand that the problem was caused by my mistake, and I should accept some of the responsibility, but I was simply appalled with the lack of organisation on their part, and the terrible customer service I received.
