Let me start by saying I really dread interacting with estate agents and the whole moving experience, so Doug and his team had their work cut out from the outset......They delivered in spades despite all the curveballs that came our way, juggling everybody's expectations and outputs throughout. My house was sold at asking price within a week of agreeing terms and subsequently completed in less than the industry average time, leading closely up to Christmas as others were slowing down. I couldn't fault Doug or the team at Chattertons, they were proactive, professional and effective from start to finish, providing the right balance of support and reassurance. The only minor flaw was Dougs questionable choices around football team, but we all have our crosses to bear!

Estate agents have a reputation as we all know, and when you meet them they are polite but you know they are there to make money. Doug and his team are very different, very genuine and really really look after their clients! We bought the property 11 years ago through Chattertons through Doug and sold it through them so we can say that we have seen both sides of the coin.
Great communications and very pleasant to deal with, cannot fault them!
The last 3 months the property market has turn, rising interest rates, roller coaster stock market helped by Liz Trust. This transaction could have been much more stressful but I am glad I chose Chattertons as they have reduce the stress tremendously.

Having said that I felt that the service I got from Chattertons estate agents was so exceptionally good that I would have to write a few words.
The team at Chattertons, Doug, Janet and Tracy are able to balance friendliness and efficiency. It is very rare these days to have a phone call answered, a promise to call back kept and all questions answered.
I cannot recommend this firm more highly.

We began our journey by meeting Mike who guided & advised us so went on by letting our property with them where Janet looked after us, what a lovely lady. Doug was incredibly proactive, professional, knowledgeable and when requried candid about the position I was in - he also worked outside of normal working hours on multiple occasions to get our sale and purchase over the line. I have used Chattertons for years, I bought my first house from them in 2003, and since then have never considered going anywhere else. Last June, I put a house on the market with Chattertons and as per my usual experience with Chattertons and Doug, everything went through smoothly. Doug and Katie were really professional and helpful throughout the whole process, from marketing the property, viewings and advising and updating throughout the whole process. Chattertons make what is generally one of the most stressful experiences in life relaxed and easy, even at times when things can feel slow and stressy, they are always there to reassure. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I also rent properties with Chattertons and appreciate the time that Janet and Tracy have for me with all my questions. Finally, my house completed when Chattertons were closed due to Covid, but Mike and Doug had organised for keys to be picked up from an alternative address during a really difficult time for them. I cannot recommend them enough and they are the go to people if you’re selling or buying, their knowledge and attention to detail really showed when the pressure was on. Doug’s calm management of difficult situations was so helpful and really made what is a difficult time go smoothly.
Apart from their professionalism above all else the genuinely nice people that want your transaction to go through the way you want. They also go out of their way to help you even with stuff that has nothing to do with them, such as recommendations for services that will help the whole process go smoothly.
Doug was honest and upfront even when he had bad news or to give you a push along and it was abundantly clear he knows the property business inside and out.
We would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Something is really wrong with these agents. Found a house on Southwood road, New Eltham. Been refused to view it from the first time I called, as I am not a first time buyer. Agents called back the next day to organise to viewing. During the viewing, Doug didn't bother to give any information about the property or answer the questions. Still, we asked for a second viewing and were advised that 'this house is not for you'; 'owner doesn't want you to see the property' and other odd excuses. All in all, they do refuse the highest paying buyers, as they 'feel who is the right buyer'. Utterly disgusting situation, avoid them at all costs.

Most people see Estate Agents as a one hit wonder. I have to say that my experience with Chattertons has completely changed my opinion on this. They have managed to sell my property and made it a pleasure. Their attention to detail with regards to customer service was outstanding. Me and my wife bought our dream house last year through Chattertons. Cant fault them to be totally honest. Doug dealt with our purchase and was extremely helpful, friendly and informative as it was our first home buying experience. My wife was also 8 months pregnant at the time of the purchase and Doug made the whole process very smooth and stress free for us.
