I would highly recommend Farmer and Dyer to any family and friends looking to sell or buy.
When getting our house valued Tom was honest and reasonable about the valuation and tactics we could take to sell our property.
We also took the opportunity to view some houses with F&D and other local agents to see if we liked their style of showing around prospective buyers. F&D stood out as they were not pushy and felt honest and genuine about the properties.
Our house did not sell within the first two weeks on the market, as the house had a feature clearly stated on the floor plans that put off many prospective buyers on viewing. Due to needing a quick-ish sale because to life circumstances but also needing a set amount for the house, I discussed tactics with Simon. Simon was a great help during this period. Whilst he made it clear he would follow what we wanted for selling the property, he was honest and gave advice based on experience. We sold the property quickly afterwards.
On buying a property F&D was quick in giving us details of properties coming on the market meeting our needs. When biding our offers felt like they were prioritised. Whilst the property we eventually bought wasn't through F&D, we felt very supported and cared for during this process.
Simon was very prompt in responding regarding queries within our chain. And, despite the typical delays due to solicitors I felt the sale of my house went as smooth as it could have done.

This was the first time in 50 years that we had moved house. We did not know what was involved except for the obvious but wanted to avoid any pitfalls. Engaging Farmer & Dyer was a really smart move in itself. From start to finish they were available and within 2 weeks deals were in place for our sale and purchase of another property. OK so there were one or two anxious moments but F&D were there to boost our confidence and sort matters out.
If we move again they will be our first choice.

We decided to list our property with Farmer & Dyer having successfully bought through them in the past. They also had multiple properties we were interested in viewing, more so than any other local agent, so we hoped we could sell and buy through them to keep the chain nice and tidy. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened! Simon Brooks was superb from start to finish, even giving us first refusal to a property which hadn’t been formally listed yet. When we then made an offer on said property, the process was smooth and efficient with him and Victoria at the helm. We were so impressed by the whole team, especially the fact that everyone in the sales team (including Mr Farmer and Mr Dyer) came out to see our property once we decided to list it. They go above and beyond; they were organised, maintained excellent communication throughout, even helped me through a few wobbles along the way! We can’t recommend F&D highly enough and are so grateful they’ve found us two wonderful homes. Thank you, team F&D!!!

My girlfriend and I recently purchased our first home. During our house hunt, we viewed a property with Damian of Farmer & Dyer and we couldn't have had a more positive experience. We could tell he cared about his work and was passionate about finding people the right home to live in, while also doing well by his clients are selling their property well. After this viewing, we kept an eye on the F&D website for future properties and when when the one we eventually bought came up we attended a viewing and had a similarly professional experience with Simon.
Thoughout the house purchase, Simon and Victoria bought communicated very transparently with us. Buying your first house is stressful for lots of reasons and we are not too proud to say we needed our hands held a bit during the process; F&D as a collective were more than happy to do this and guide us through the purchase. We couldn't thank them enough for relieving the pressures of our first purchase and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking to buy/sell their home.

One of the best letting agents I've been a tenant with.
Recently moved out of a rental property managed by F&D. Maintenance issues were taken care of quickly and effectively, without dispute, and they went the extra mile (including not charging me for letting me back in to my flat when I locked myself out!). My deposit was returned promptly with reasonable deductions.
If I had to go back to renting I'd start by looking at what F&D had available!

I got a visit from one of your agent to estimate price for our property he came into our house and got a really rude manner, he came into our property he didn't even get bothered to take his shoes of he just walked through everything made our carpet really dirty full with mud without any care ! Well I would never use this type of agency to say"agent "who has zero respect about peoples home ! The first thing as an adult he should learn if you enter in someones house at least take off your shoes and respect the customers !!!

We was a first-time buyer and had a lot of questions and concerns, but mostly we couldn't find the property we liked.
Victoria is very knowledgeable about the local market. We asked for a viewing of a house that wasn't what we thought it would be. And while chatting about what we want/need she picked on a property that wasn't even on the site yet. And a few blocks away from there we lived. It was the perfect house in a perfect location, and we couldn't be happier!

Poor communication overall. Our initial complaints over the state of the house on check-in were ignored (general cleanliness, food bins full of rotten chicken bones, rubbish in garden, etc.).
We were quick to be blamed for rising mould caused by heavy rain during the year which had nothing to do with us, as confirmed by the contractors.
We ended our tenancy with an extremely one-sided conversation regarding our deposit, despite leaving the property in far better condition than the previous tenants.
Will avoid in future.

Edit: Under GDPR please can you send us all the information you hold on us as we need this for our complaint to the Ombudsman as you have advised us to go to them. You did try to call us twice and left no message and sent no email, if you are going to remarket a property we would expect a little more effort trying to get hold of your buyers. The solicitor was not engaged due to the chain taking over 3 months to close and your lack of updates/lies on the matter.
Offer accepted 1st September, saw today that the property was readded on the market on 19th December. No communication from the agent whatsoever to let us know. For 3 months updates regarding the chain were shocking and the story changed every time, we were fed one lie after another. Still waiting for an AML check to be done which is illegal as a sale was agreed months ago.

Having sold successfully with them 16 years ago, this years experience has left me disappointed. My house was sold quickly in April then almost no contact in the intervening months. Twice calls were not replied to and I suddenly found out I had 2 weeks to move from my conveyancer, not estate agent, who charged me a fifth of F&D fees. Because they didn't communicate the moving date with me, it caused me to incur penalties for cancellation of services and I was lucky to find suitable storage at the last minute. I would not recommend.

I used Farmer & Dyer to rent a property so only dealt with lettings.
I found them for the most part to be pretty poor at communication, some of the staff definitely came across as having a bit of an attitude and mostly I felt like I was more of an inconvenience than a customer. I wouldn't recommend them.
What I would add is that there is one guy working there, (Tom) who is basically holding the entire lettings team/dept up. Very communicative and helpful. The rest, really were not.

Be wary of viewing properties for rent with F&D!
Despite knowing that I was making a 3 hour round trip especially to view a property, the agents in the Reading branch didn’t contact me to tell me that the flat I was due to view had already been let. I even had confirmation of the viewing the previous afternoon!
I turned up at the agreed time and after waiting for the agent for 15 mins decided to ring the office. The response I got was ‘oh I thought someone else would have told you it has already been let.’ This was the same person I arranged the viewing with and received the confirmation email from.
When I told him that I had just driven 1.5hrs to drive there for the viewing he didn’t even apologise and just repeated the line that he had thought someone else should have told us.
To be quite honest, this is disgusting behaviour and has put me off ever renting through them again.
Luckily for Reading, there are plenty of other estate agents with great properties such as Martin & Co and Winkworth who we eventually found our perfect flat through.
Unless these guys have your ideal flat on with them - AVOID!!

I have been a tenant in a property managed by Farmer and Dyer for the best part of six years, and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking to rent a property. They have been completely professional, efficient, and fast responding throughout, from check in through multiple lease renewals through to my recent check out. The staff really go out of their way to make everything go smoothly.

I rented off Farmer & Dyer for 2 years and couldn’t have had a better experience! They were were very professional and helpful throughout the 2 years... Lyn responded straight away to any enquiries and any minor issues we had with things not working in the house were always sorted very quickly... Nadine has always being super helpful as well... If I needed to rent again or recommend a company to use to rent they’d be my first call!
I also bought my first home via Farmer & Dyer and Damian & team were great throughout the whole process... As a first time buyer I had plenty of questions which are always answered very promptly and in great detail... It was also great to be able to get recommendations for things like home inspections and they were a great help throughout the whole process... Nadine has also being great for recommendations for tradespeople as I’ve needed things done! Again I would definately use them again & couldn’t recommend them higher!

I have rented my property through F&D for almost a year and I have been very impressed with the service and professionalism throughout. Lauren has been my property manager and has responded within 12 hours of any concerns/problems I have in my flat. The problem is then also fixed within a day or two. I can highly recommend F&D as a whole.

We rented from farmer and dyer for our first house as a couple and were very pleased with the service provided by Lyn as our property manager; she acted in our best interests throughout our tenancy and the numerous issues we experienced in the property that were out of anyones control. My purchase experience with F&D was in general good. But, right after contract sign they stopped responding to my mails. This I think is strange. UPDATE: sorted. I'm happy with F&D services.

We have just bought and sold through Farmer and Dyer and were very happy with the experience. All of the team who we dealt with were friendly, professional and approachable and quick to answer any queries or concerns we had, and put our minds at ease during the stressful bits. You will get a more personal service and better rates with F&D than you would with one of the bigger players, and i think that's worth a lot. I'd happily use them again.

Have read reviews and am astonished by a few of their comments. I have used Farmer & Dyer on several occasions and couldn't fault them. They have been managing property for me and since commissed them to sale same which STC has been achieved close to asking price
