I recently bought a house via Winkworth, and I couldn't be happier. I went to see the property and was greeted by the most honest and sincere Nicola Roberts (I have anxiety dealing with agents from past experiences, been looking for few years), she is knowledgeable, cares and really easy to talk to, you can tell she's confident with many years of experience. We've done a sealed bid with others, and my offer was accepted. There was no gazumping or playing around or negotiations past my offer, I sent my proofs and that was it, they respected the process. It's the integrity for me that sealed the deal. Nicola and the team have been extremely responsive (I'll often get a response within the hour) and helpful addressing any questions and forwarding questions to my seller. They'll step in when things appear slow or blocked. Buying a house is a difficult journey and inherently stressful (I had two solicitors to deal with, thanks to my mortgage lender !!), I'm just thankful that Winkworth were the easiest part in it. There is an agent that wants to sell, and there is an agent that wants to sell and make sure you and the seller are equally happy with their service. For the last year we have been renting a flat for our daughter, Winkworth Reading have been brilliant, every phone call they have returned promptly, any issues in the flat they have dealt with quickly and professionally. All the staff have been really helpful from the lady who showed us round, to the accounts lady but I'd like to make a special mention of Melvyn and Thank him for his support with liaising with tradesmen and being able to be on hand to sort out issues. Would not hesitate to recommend this company. Only moving out as my daughter is returning to University for her final year. This was my review last year that didn't Post !. Been trying to find a property to rent in Reading for last 3 months with many estate agents not even returning calls or emails. This week I contacted Winkworth's on Sunday, to get a phone call on the Monday morning and had a viewing the next day. Charlotte was polite, honest and able to answer all my queries quickly and efficiently. Not professional. After scheduling a 5pm viewing ( 9 Brechin Court) on a Tuesday a week in advance, the agent calls me around lunch time confirming the viewing, which I confirmed. At 4:55 (as I am 1 minute away the property) agent calls and says that the viewing is not possible and need to reschedule. They do not give a strong enough reason. The reason is the house at the moment is “not in a viewing condition”. No follow ups, not the slightest customer care shown. They need to understand their job and do that properly! Highly unprofessional, would not recommend this. Poor management, poor agents leading to a very unpleasant experience.... Read more

Robin is very experienced and knowledgeable, and at the same time personal, kind, empathetic and supportive. His approach involves thorough market research, knowledge of market conditions and trends, so he gave us the right advice in terms of asking price. Awful experience - they tried to take 80% (£800) of my deposit, claiming for pre-existing damages and fair wear and tear. They tried to charge me for having furniture marks from where my furniture had been sitting and for cracks in the walls, chipped handles and scuffs (and much more!) that had been there since moving in. Luckily I had pictures from my move in date. They did not look at the check in report and instead tried to charge me for whatever they could. Unbelievably awful disgusting treatment after being a reliable, great tenant. Do not go through this agency as they support thieving landlords. Pretty sure the cleaning company they use help them give fake invoices to take more of tenant money (£300 worth). Utterly disappointed in their behaviour.... Read more

We recently sold our flat through Winkworth and would highly recommend them. Their price was as good as we found and we couldn’t fault the service. Robin was knowledgeable on the local market, both in terms of prices and strategies for selling under the current conditions. We were happy with the feedback we got from Nicola after viewings and then the regular communication from Robin thereafter. We sold our flat after the first day of viewings and achieved the top end of what we were hoping for (and above what other estate agents had suggested). Our purchase ended up being particularly stressful due to delays and poor communication from our buyer and their solicitor. Robin was very good at chasing both to ensure we made our completions deadline. I honestly don’t believe we would have made our deadline without Robin’s tenacity. Property management is absolutely awful. I live next door to the house they let. Trying to get them to cut back trees that are damaging our fence and roof. Updated on Oct 25: The Sales team is excellent but the property management team is terrible. I have reported a case - a non-working oven for nearly 2 months but still having not been fixed. Everytime they replied me to call me back but it never happened. I think this sustaining service is one of the key factors when you choose a property agent. Rented Queens Wharf Reading what a nightmare thru Winkworth as Property Managers. Lift was always broken, walking up and down 6 flights of stairs even when it was 40 degrees outside. Building takes no responsibility and Winkworth did nothing on behalf of their tenants. Building has a ton of issues aside lift so do your homework if you are thinking of renting in this building. Electric and utility bills outrageous, electric was 650 pounds a month. Also the 3 bedroom penthouse we rented had no Economy 7 they switched it off to fix a problem it caused with hot water heater. Was without hot water for 2 weeks during tenancy due to slow response and BS "we are waiting for parts" when they had to replace hot water heater, no excuse, all documented via emails between myself and Winkworth. Winkworth did nothing could not have cared a toss. We moved out early and shock, elevator wasnt working when I moved out and i had to pay movers a premium to lug my belongings down 6 flights and building nor Landlord would remediate costs. Appalling. I requested a valuation online. The call I received totally blew my mind. As a seller, I did not get any professional advice or appointment slots, instead I was asked how much I think my property was worth, then there was was a line of questioning about my estimate, it felt I was facing a picky customer who was haggling aggressively, we spent most of the timing arguing 'how much I spent on my property'. Most of the time, the so-called evaluation manager was very condescending, I did not sense any professionalism. I received an email later, but never received any call as mentioned after responding. I think this agent is very picky about its customers, it is perfectly alright, but there is a professional way to show your lack of interest. We were really struggling to find a suitable property to rent and WinkWorth came to the rescue. Moving from one city to another is not easy. James, who is the lettings director kindly provisioned a last minute viewing on the same day for us when I phoned him from the train station 2 hours before viewings. Holly is a true star, after giving us a tour of the property listened carefully to our needs and understood our situation, and ensured that we and the landlord are good match and helped us to get an agreement within 10 minutes of us having left the property with a very welcome phone call. I would also like to mention Aoife who acted swiftly when we were told about a missing gas certificate for the property, which could have derailed our moving plans. She made it her top priority and ensured it was all ready and part of the agreement. My only recommendation for improvement is to ensure gas certificates, etc are in place, finding out a couple of nights before that it might not be available caused a slight panic ???? these can easily be obtained online and don't need a physical copy. I have dealt with a few lettings agents, and WinkWorth definitely come out on top. They're professional, but perhaps their biggest strength is that they don't hesitate, they move fast and get things done really quickly, which is a necessity for tenants.... Read more

We were lucky with the properties we've rented so far and the staff are top notch! A letting agent that ‘makes stuff happen’ I’ve just moved into a flat managed by these guys and the process was a complicated one from my end. Covid lockdown and redundancies have caused an awkward financial background which meant that whilst I was looking for a home, many of the letting agents I had spoken with had a ‘computer says no’ attitude towards the whole renting process. I feel that Charlotte and her team were keen to make this happen on my behalf: I briefed them on my position and I genuinely felt that they fought my corner to get me a new home. The key element was open communication and a human interaction- she conveyed my position to the landlord personally when I felt that it needed to be, and this I think is the key difference in service here. A few queries on the property during the move in day were dealt with promptly and efficiently. If I was to sum up our experience with Winkworth into one sentence it would be “In terms of selling our house Winkworth was the best decision we could have made.” Currently the housing market isn’t the best and the estate agents we had round to value our house prior to putting it on the market painted a horrible picture and priced our house to match the “tough market conditions”, especially as we were looking at putting it on the market during December. We then thought about waiting a year or two to put our house on the market, until we had Winkworth come round. Robin was an absolute pleasure and he is an asset to the company he works for; his passion for his job and his general demeanor made us feel like Winkworth were the best fit for us. They priced our house fairly and from the moment we signed the contract were straight out to take pictures and marketing the property to all potential buyers and had several viewings booked in with 72 hours with an offer which we accepted. Things didn’t quite work out with our original buyers and they pulled out before exchange, which led to a few very stressful few days. I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Michael Foldvari Of Winkworth Estate Agents finally only a couple of weeks ago after having dealt with him for a long time on the phone. My wife met him a couple of times and was very impressed too with his professionalism and constant desire to assist and in general, he has always been very helpful and willing to offer advice especially to us being first time Buyers in this country. He never tired to answer all my million questions and uncertainty. When I first spoke to Michael, I had actually already put a deposit down and confirmed another purchase direct from the "Builders". Michael convinced me to at least have a look at the property he had firdt, which I did and I asked my wife to go and have a look and that was it for us - it was "THE" property we had actually been looking for so we decided to go ahead with Michael. We did warn him that we had a very short time to expedite and conclude the purchase as our lease was expiring on another property we had been renting elsewhere. I am happy to say working with Michael we were able to coordinate very well with the Solicitors and the Owners and in a record time we were able to finalise and conclude the transaction. They were very professional but also very easy to work with and had a (very rare these days) personal touch and emphasis on client care. I was buying a property through them and I didn't have an easy time due to the incompetence of my solicitor but these boys bent over backwards to get things to completion.
