When it came to the sale of my late uncles’ house, we selected Hackney and Leigh due to their excellent marketing and sales support. Living a significant distance away from The Lake District at the time of the sale, it was very important to be working with a small and dedicated team whom we could speak to regularly. Nick and Simon, who led the sale, has been thoroughly professional and extremely supportive throughout. We greatly appreciated Simon’s level of communication throughout, particularly since we weren’t on the ground ourselves.

We approached H&L a number of times during our property search in Cumbria. Most often, our enquiries were addressed to the Keswick office & we found the whole team (& Simon in particular) to be very kind, knowledgeable, courteous & efficient. Viewings were arranged promptly & conveniently, allowing us to maximise the number of viewings we were able to make during our weekends searching. The viewings themselves were also conducted very professionally, with the added bonus of real local knowledge to help inform our decision making. I recently placed my property with Hackney & Leigh, Keswick office, in what I'd expected to be a difficult period in which to sell. Simon and Nick handled the sale, and their knowledge of the local market allowed me to position the property just right. Within 2 weeks, the sale had been agreed. Completion was smooth and very quick. I couldn't recommend Simon and Nick highly enough. Fantastic service!

Absolutely shocking Estate Agents. I've had the displeasure of dealing with several branches, for a number of transactions, including purchasing a business, leasing a commercial unit and buying a residential property, all of which, have caused me severe distress and been financially debilitating, due to their poor communication and misrepresentation. It's unfortunate they have the monopoly in the Lake District, as there are some great Estate Agents around, that are drowned by this company. Be warned, question everything; ask for evidence, especially when reviewing their sales adverts. One of many examples, I was looking to buy a business; they suggested a new lease may be available if desired; the business was being sold for over £130k, with an existing 2 year lease, so a new lease was absolutely desired. However, after spending nearly £8k on due diligence, there wasn't a new lease available, the estate agent hadn't even discussed it with the landlord, they just added that statement to the sales documentation to make the business more appealing. Don't even bother about complaining, as you'll be dismissed and then threatened by their solicitors. If there is absolutely no alternative to using this company, please be very careful. I hope never to use them again, in fact, I'll go out of my way to make sure our paths never cross again.
