This agency is extremely pro-landlord and seems to overlook the fact that tenants are a key part of their business. I've had two very frustrating experiences with them in just the past six months, and I feel compelled to share them. This won’t be a glowing Google review, that’s for sure but just a caution for prospecting tenants.
(i) I found a new rental through them, made an offer, had it accepted, signed the agreement, and paid the deposit and advance rent six weeks before the move-in date. Then, less than two weeks before the move, I received a call informing me that the landlord had changed his mind. The agency had security measures in place to protect the landlord but none for me. I later discovered that the landlord hadn’t even signed the contract initially, and the agency didn’t bother to follow up with him. I escalated the issue, only to get a call from a local manager offering nothing but apologies.
(ii) Fortunately, I found a new place through a more reliable agent and moved in. Ironically, the property I vacated was managed by this same agency, and the landlord made a claim for my entire £3200 deposit plus an additional £600, despite a very positive checkout report. The agency’s deposit officer pushed hard for me to pay, but when I counteroffered £485, communication suddenly stopped. I had expected the agency to mediate negotiations, but the officer ignored all my emails. I ended up filing a dispute with the TDS just three days before the deadline, and it’s now been nearly four months since I moved out. The case is still unresolved, with the landlord's claim (now reduced to £485, which I had originally offered) sitting at the shelf-resolution stage of the TDS process. If I take this to resolution, I’m confident they’ll get only a fraction of what they’re asking. This is a clear example of how this agency sides with landlords to the detriment of tenants.

We have dealt with Hamptons in Wimbledon Village for quite a number of years. We bought our house through them and have rented out a couple of investment properties via their lettings dept for many years so have experienced both sides of their business. I would highly recommend them due to their very professional, reliable and trustworthy service, competitive fee structure and excellent knowledge of the market. Estate agents don’t have the best of reputations but I can honestly say Hamptons Wimbledon Village are head and shoulders above the rest, and should leave the others trailing. If you are looking at the Wimbledon area, you will not get a better agent.

We rented a property managed by the Hamptons Wimbledon for 6 years, and have endured a litany of problems, from frequent leaks through roofs and pipes, roof tiles falling onto our patio, damp through outside walls, no hot water in the top floor bathroom, a poorly secured gate leading to a break-in, several weeks withot heating and hot water and many, many other problems.
Repairs were slow and often shoddy, and little decorative work was done, so stains from the leaks remained throughout our tenancy.
Throughout our tenancy, we were not offered a penny in compensation. However, when we left the property, *we* were charged for alleged decorative defects against our deposit, including an attempt to charge us 540 pounds (!) to remove a faint chalk drawing from an outside wall.

Absolutely fantastic service. Unlike any estate agent we have used before. Really cannot recommend highly enough. Myself and my partner had a very small time frame to get a new place sorted due to notice periods and personal circumstances. Alison and Jess bent over backwards to help. Alison was able to get out and show us the property with very little notice. Jess was superb. Very personable and responsive throughout. Was always there to help and felt like she genuinely cared about helping us make this as easy as possible. Finally Natasha was able to push everything through for us and was incredibly efficient. Very helpful and really think she went above and beyond what was expected. They say moving house is meant to be one of the most stressful experiences but this was a pleasure. Can’t thank them enough for helping make what could and probably should have been a really difficult time remarkably easy.
As an update since we have moved in the service has continued to be first class. Trevor, our property manager has been great. So helpful and always there when we need. Easy to get hold of and a pleasure to deal with. So quick to reply to any query and genuinely is there to help with even the smallest request. Once again great service.

I cannot even express how happy Jessica Slater and Joe Lewis have made us.
They were attentive to our needs, and instantly booked us into a flat that we were interested in. Joe showed us around the property, in a very professional and friendly way, allowing us our own time to properly view.
Jessica afterwards was outstanding, she was completely empathetic to our situation and was on the ball with communication, did everything she could to help us whilst extremely professional.

The team at Hamptons were incredibly helpful throughout the entire rental process. Joe Lewis was proactive in sending us properties matching our criteria specifically, not filling our in inboxes with irrelevant items.
Once we found the perfect place his communication and handling of the negotiations were very quick and professional. We really felt he was looking out for both the landlord and us, the tenants, equally in terms of making sure all parties were happy.
Upon agreeing terms he continued to go above and beyond. Keeping us informed of the refurbishment progress and even when on holiday, there was someone on his team that took over immediately for any outstanding needs. He then made sure that everything was smooth through to the move, check-in, and afterward with unpacking etc.
It was a sincere pleasure working with Hamptons, when moving house can typically be stressful and tension-filled, they made it as seamless as possible.

Finding a rental home is challenging enough in London but even more so with Covid. I dealt with many agents to find my lovely new home. Hamptons were the only ones who did things that one would expect to be basic in their business: Listen to what I wanted and not forward me any old thing; Get back to me within timeframe indicated; kept me up to date with progress. Then there is the extras - personable, empathetic and thinking out of the box in a difficult time. I will be recommending Hamptons to any friend looking for a letting agent and also to friends looking to rent. In short Hamptons are professionals. Don't get me started on some of their competition who think they are!

They made us wait until the 10th day after our check-out before telling us that £90 would be deducted from our deposit for bags of garden waste to be taken away. There was no proof that we had left this. I appreciate that the deposit release is most probably the landlord's decision, but in our case the landlord was a 'family friend' of Hamptons and it's hard to believe that they had no influence in this.
During our time at their property, there were certain problems that they caused for us but when I asked for compensation at the end, they refused. It's funny how they can keep money from your deposit despite having no proof of the thing they accuse you of, but when it comes to them paying out money for problems they caused, they can get away with it.
The biggest problem we had at their property was that there were broken and creaky floorboards above us. This issue caused us massive problems. We rarely had any peace and lost lots of hours of sleep because of it. Hamptons never once offered to do anything about this problem. They didn't even offer to come and listen to it for themselves. They would fix the easy problems but when it came to something more complex like this, they wanted to have nothing to do with it. It was basically 'speak to your neighbours and the council as it's a civil matter', when obviously the problem was with the structure of the building.
At the time of writing this, the property we rented for almost 2 years is under offer for close to half a million pounds. To think that the landlord tried to keep £90 from us for something so petty, it's really hard to believe.

Moving is never the most enjoyable of experiences but Hamptons has made the process remarkably pleasant. In particular during the letting process Fanella was very quick to respond to all of my requests prior to moving in, and Trevor's support and assistance as the property manager has been extremely efficient and communicative. In my time living in the UK I can think of only one agency (which is outside of London) that has provided such a high standard of service to its tenants.

We didn’t initially think of approaching Hamptons to sell our house as we thought they mainly sold high end properties in Wimbledon Village. Then we spoke to our neighbors who said Hamptons had just found their buyer and they were very happy with the service they received. So we decided to go with Hamptons Wimbledon and we’re very pleased we did. The first thing that impressed us was that the whole sales team came to view our property and meet us, including Rebecca who handles the admin side of the process.
We received a couple of offers for our house and they guided us through making a choice which to accept. We were very happy with the advice we received from Richard and David and their negotiating skills are superb. They were proactive and very patient with the buyer to make sure the sale went ahead. Their communication and customer service was first class.
We were impressed with David, Richard and Rebecca’s professionalism and they were friendly and a pleasure to deal with. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Wimbledon sales team. Thank you for making a stressful process less stressful!

Moving from one country to the other is a big move. And finding the right place to live is big headache and on top of that the maintenance is a bigger issue or worry. But Hamptons made everything so simple and quick that I can recommend them without any second thought in my mind.

We had the a really great experience with Christiane at Hamptons in Wimbledon Village. She was a complete delight to deal with from start to finish. Her patience with us as very nervous first time buyers was exceptional and she was excellent at calming us down or explaining things to us as the process evolved.
Given the short time scale we had to exchange and complete there are many people that are completely taken back on the speed of the purchase and the smooth process and this is down to how fortunate we were to have such great individuals helping us through the purchase.
Christiane was quick to chase each party when required and was welcoming to the questions one might feel silly to ask.
When Christiane was away her colleagues were quick to help out and knowledgeable of the situation.
Her transparency with us throughout the process was highly appreciated and made the whole process a lot less stressful.
Thank you again to Christiane and the team at Hamptons we are over the moon to be on the property Ladder and cant thank you enough for helping us throughout the process! We used Hamptons International in Wimbledon village for the sale of our property. From the valuation of the property to the final completion in just around 13 weeks we couldn't have been more pleased. What is a stressful period for most, we felt we were in very good hands throughout. We were very impressed with the team at Hamptons, and particularly Richard Barnes who handled most of the transaction for us. During his absence, his colleague John was in charge and this was completely seamless. Richard's professionalism and 'nothing is a problem' attitude set him apart from the other 3 estate agents that we spoke to initially. I also would like to thank Helen in the office, who assisted us with producing an upgraded high quality glossy brochure, with great photographs, which we were proud to pass on to prospective buyers. Marketing is clearly a big part of selling a house, and with that we couldn't have been more pleased. The fees at Hamptons are not the cheapest, but they are reasonable for the level of service that you get. We will definitely recommend Hamptons Wimbledon in future.

The manager Alison Purdue is the most helpful and gracious real estate expert we have ever met. She is not only very knowledgeable, but also listens carefully to what you as a tenant want in your new home and thinks about what new properties coming into the market in the near future might be interesting for you. I am pleased to say that with the minimum of inconvenience to both ourselves and the previous tenant Hampton's arranged viewings and were able to find a suitable new tenant who was able to move in on the same day that our previous tenant vacated.
