Carl at Islington Properties has been managing the letting of my flat for the best part of a decade. He's done a great job and having a consistent point of contact has been amazing. For context we moved the management to Islington Properties from a national chain of agents which changed its property managers on what felt like a monthly basis. Carl is proactive and responsive, and if we hadn't sold the flat he'd likely be looking after it for another decade. We have recently sold the flat, again through Islington Properties. We approached some other local agents for quotes but had terrible service. By contrast, Robert was swift to respond and has been a supportive agent through what has been a rather protracted sales process (not his fault, just the usual hiccups often encountered when selling). When I was putting up my property for sale I interviewed many estate agents but chose to go with Robert at Islington property. I had some hesitancy as they seem to be letting focused, but Robert did an amazing job with the sale of my property. He was quick to get the property to market and hired the best photographer. The communication with Robert through the process was smooth and constant. I was further impressed with his level of service as the transaction had some difficulties and Robert stayed on top of it and communicated with me constantly. Robert was also helpful with answering questions on my onward purchase despite the fact he was not involved in that transaction. I am still confident that Islington Properties provides top notch service to both landlords and tenants. August 10th, 2017 – it has been a pleasure to deal with James and his team over the past two years. They are pragmatic and quickly respond to queries - my tenants spontaneously provided positive feedback. It is worth noting that the providers that they use offer good value for money, from repainting jobs to replacing appliances. I have tried to make contact with this company on several occasions over the past 2 months via phone calls and emails. I have even tried to contact them via Instagram messages and have used the onthemarket contact form, where they have properties advertised. They have ignored every single form of communication. My experience of Islington Properties was terrible. They simply refused to take telephone calls. They refused to take telephone calls and written letters. The only time we would get a reply, was when the concierge contacted them directly. Even then, it was only 20% of cases, where they would get a reply. I have been extremely disappointed with the service I have received from this company. There is very little communication with clients about important matters and what steps are being taken to remedy them. For example: no communication (until initiated by a resident) about broken security cameras in properties, attempted theft in shared areas, lifts broken for several days with no information about repairs. I feel it is important for residents who pay for this service to be kept up to date about significant issues in a shared block. For the amount we pay this service is not good enough. Since writing this post I have had another example of the difficulties of dealing with Islington properties. I wrote to them about a leak coming from the flat or balcony above causing water damage to one of my bedrooms. They have said they will investigate this asap but 'Unfortunately our contractors are extremely busy at the moment due to the rain and also a lot of staff are on annual leave'. I also note that the company cannot locate me on their system despite the numerous calls and emails I have made to them. I shall write again reminding them of why I pay them service charge. They seem to be able to locate my cheques even if they 'cannot find me on their system'. And a month later I am adding to this again - the sole lift in this block of flats breaks down several times a year. We have now almost had one week without a lift. I have also waited three weeks to hear about the damage assessment of a leak from the property upstairs. UNACCEPTABLE... Read more

I really dislike publicly calling a company out online, but I feel it is important in our case. If they read this review they will know precisely who I am, as I have been in touch with them for the past 4 months regarding noise coming from the property they manage above our flat in SE1. This isn't a negative review regarding their services to their customers. I am sure this service is fantastic, hence the high-star reviews. I haven't dealt with Islington Properties for the purpose of renting an accommodation so I have no opinion on this. My major gripe is that they have rented out a property above our flat to two students in an accommodation that is 99% professional. The two students keep the most insane hours that is in stark contrast to mine and my wife's professional hours; like most of the rest of professional London. I have worked in the professional world of background screening and vetting long enough to know that an abysmal background check was conducted on the above tenants. I say 'tenants' plural, as I feel it is important to point out that despite it being against the lease contract for more than one person to occupy the above property, there are two students living above us. In my 9 years living in London I have seen time and time again, property management companies making it absolutely clear to renters that a certain accommodation is for professionals only. Our accommodation is no different, yet the noise makers above us who get out of bed at 2pm and are still walking about their flat at 4am in the morning seem to have slipped through the net. Ultimately the finger points right back to the vetting process of Islington Properties, who failed to ascertain their tenants professional status.... Read more
