We were asked for £10k up front without even seeing a contract. The deposit they asked for was several thousand more than they had advertised on RightMove. Despite repeatedly asking for a contract, it did not appear for over 6 weeks. They blamed their solicitor. Meanwhile they continued to market the property on RightMove. Jacksons also wanted us to sublet part of the property to a friend of theirs, which we didn't want to do. Then when the draft contract is amended and being approved, we are asked for a holding deposit. We had lost a lot of confidence in Jacksons, but contacted the landlord directly and got on well thankfully. But then 48 hours before our removers arrived, Jacksons pulled the plug blaming 'poor communication' despite having been in regular communication via phone, email or SMS throughout the 10 weeks we were dealing with them. MD took no responsibility whatsoever for the many bad practices. Disappointing and costly for us - clearly an agency that doesn't play fair.... Read more
