Mel and her team at Jacob Steel are very professional in what they do, from start to finish they were just excellent handling both the sale and the buying of our new home.
Although the timing of everything was very long-drawn-out, we understood from the very start of the processes and formalities of which needed to be followed. None of which was at the fault of Jacob Steel.
Mel was very communicative along with her colleagues and made our journey enjoyable despite the time in which it took, and what I must say (is the norm with whoever you choose).
For us it was the friendliness, and clear communication approach in what is likely to be the most stressful event most of us will experience in our life time, and played such an important part.
Should we move again, of course we would be going back to Mel and her team at JS.

Having decided to sell a reasonably large smallholding/ estate (5 bed farmhouse with 5acres of land) on the South Downs near Sompting, I’d decide to review the services of a very wide range of agents. This included high end traditional country estate sales agencies right through to seemingly more standard town based agencies. Having seen quite a number, the team at Jacob Steel Lancing and specifically, Melanie filled me initially with more confidence and hope than every other I’d seen. In saying that I had reservations that the JS Lancing team had the experience for this type of sale process and so instructed two agents, Jacob Steel and HJ Burt. The hunger and drive and regular communication from the JS team was very impressive, they acted in a way that made me feel they really wanted to help me sell this property. It was not a straightforward house to sell, listed and in a conservation area, it had complications. Jacob Steel demonstrated absolute commitment to my sale and soon I focused on them as a single agent, given seemingly ‘higher end’ agents demonstrated relative indifference.
After a marathon sale process I completed this week, it was a long and complicated journey but the Jacob Steel Lancing team never lost energy or hunger to help me get to the end. No matter what status of property, the JS teams drive will get you sold. Can’t recommend enough!

Would not want to use another company! We contacted Jacob steel around a year and a half ago when we wanted to sell our flat but other circumstances came up. When we decided to sell we had a private buyer so did not need a estate agent but when they pulled out i asked Mel and her team to come round as soon as they can to get our property up as we found our dream home! Mel came round the next day and put our flat on the market within 2 days! Excellent service from a great company!! Advertised my property really well, great photos! Kept me well informed on viewings, feedback, updates. When viewing properties through them Phoebe knew her stuff, she learns everything about a property and there wasn't many questions she couldn't answer there and then!!
Although a small chain had a few hiccups towards the end from the seller and their solicitor but the guys at Jacob Steel were on the case!! Would definitely recommend and use them again ????

We were treated appalling by Jacob’s Steel from the moment our offer was accepted. There was a delay in our mortgage application due to no fault of our own but we were accused of being dishonest and untrustworthy people and constantly threatened by the sales progressor that the sale was being jeopardised if we dared to question one single thing. We got keys to a property today which was in an awful state. When I contacted the estate agent about it I was patronised and basically told there was nothing they could do to help.
If you are a first time buyer, avoid these awful people. Not helpful and only care about the person making them money.
I will actively tell all my peers who are similarly looking to buy new homes to avoid this awful company.

I found Jacobs Steel to be very professional. Mel and her team particularly Phoebe, who was our main contact, were extremely nice people to deal with. Caring and trustworthy and understood our situation and what we were trying to achieve.

This was my deceased brothers property. Because I live in Merseyside everything had to be done via e-mail. I phoned one day showing interest for a specific area and a few moths after they got in touch to let me know about a property that matched exactly what I was looking for.

They successfully sold two flats for me and persuaded me to buy a new one. One Sale was a bit of a lengthy process not helped by lockdowns but Mel was very good at hustling it through. They have had some staff turnover in the last two years, so you might want to check Mel is still there before making a decision to use them. They handled everything you could expect, the viewings are well organised through a website and they also found us a clearance company. In general prompt action and good responsiveness.
I've only given 4 stars because we didn't get the hoped for prices but it may be unfair to blame them and real money in the bank is always better than theoretical money on an advert..

After looking at quite a few properties, it was nice to get an estate agent that had all the answers whilst showing you around. Phoebe was very professional and any information she couldn’t answer she got back to me straight away. Unlike other estate agents around the area who’s answer were if you call the office they will confirm.
Once the offer had been accepted Mel was the main point of contact and she helped a lot with chasing the solicitors and trying to get the process completed as quickly as possible. Took a while but got there in the end.
We also used the Findon office for another property search, very last minute but they fitted us in for a viewing. The gentleman that we met, again new everything about the property & was very professional.

I bought my first property being sold through Jacobs Steel and was happy with how the purchase was handled, so they were my first choice when we came to sell 7 years later.
The speed of which the property went onto the website was impressive.
Chris was great at advising how best to sell to cause minimum distribution to the routine we had for our 9 month old baby, which was an open house.
Once the open house had happened, Chris was then great at keeping us informed of interest and offers received, and then finalising the best sale price possible.

I would thoroughly recommend Jacobs Steel. I originally bought my flat through them back in 2001 and they did a great job. So, when I came to sell it 14 years later, they were one of the estate agents I got in to value it (the other being King and Chasemore).
Chris was very prompt for the initial appointment and was very enthusiastic about wanting to sell the flat for me. This was not the case for King and Chasemore, who didn't even turn up!!
Throughout the sale Chris and his team have been excellent, keeping me informed of developments, giving advice and generally helping things run smoothly.

We placed our bungalow with Jacobs Steel and within a few days they had enough buyers interested to be able to arrange an 'open' day, during which they received a number of offers including some that exceeded our asking price. We accepted one that was not the highest, fully backed by Chris and his team, and the deal went through, if not always smoothly, then with the unstinted backing of the JS team including their help in nudging solicitors to speed up! The team worked for me from day one, even while away in Spain I received regular updates on the viewings, offers and finally the sale.
