Worst housing company. Moved in to a disgusting house with maggots under the fridge and a horrible smell. Dryer broke after one use and the washing machine ended up breaking too. Apparently a check of the appliances was done (not likely). Also one housemate had to wait 3 months to get her bedroom blind repaired which was broken when we moved in. Horrible communication and scammed us with our deposit. Sending blank photos of ‘stains’ which were not there and claiming they could not load our photos we sent as proof we had left the house clean and tidy. Didn’t help filling in mouse holes as “they would make other holes anyway”. Just lazy. Do not go with MCR Move.

brilliant letting agents. Rented one of their places last year and they were brilliant. Previous agents had (like loads do) took most of my deposit, claiming cleaning costs that just weren't valid. This agent was honest and very responsive to queries and treated you like a human.

honest and accommodating! Sadly, most other agents are the total opposite. Lucy and James esp. were really helpful throughout my son's stay in one of their houses. Responsive to queries, and most importantly, they have a realistic approach to what is genuine wear and tear (most other agents will take hundreds from deposit for what should be wear and tear).

having rented from other agents, MCR Move is without question the best. Honest, caring and approachable. Other agents treat tenants like an inconvenience, are totally inflexible and downright dishonest when it comes to returning deposits. None of that with MCR Move, who were realistic about wear and tear and cleaning requirements when we moved out and really quick to deal with repairs/enquiries throughout our time there. Bottom tier housing, not a single room was up to standard in any way, and had the audacity to keep half our deposits due to pre-existing damage. Communication was disgraceful and basic necessities were not fulfilled throught our stay. Mould in every room which made some of us very ill, and destroyed cupboards and shoes. Nothing was done to remediate any issues, even though we had emailed and complained on countless occasions. Rats all over kitchen and no dryer until we were about to move out. Do not listen to other reviews on here - find somewhere else to live because MCR Move only care about your money and absolutely nothing more.

Absolutely the worst company I’ve ever had to deal with. Did nothing to help the absolute terrible state of the house we were given. Paying £145 a WEEK to live in a rat invested, insect crawling house. No dryer until two months before we left. Binned 3 pairs of shoes because of mould, house smelt like damp. When emailing, they replied with how to prevent mould, not do anything about it. And they think they can rip the whole house off by taking away a deposit we are owed. Would never recommend moving in with a house under this company to my worst enemy. Getting ill from a place you’re staying in is not what I call a house, it’s called surviving in the wild (we also had rats in the kitchen) they came once, put rat poison down and left. Don’t trust them! Will never go back to this company and they should be shown as the estate agents they truly are! Vile! Vile VILE!!!
Stay away from them at all cost, they only care about money, not the tenants in the house. When checking the house over, they said mattresses were dirty (they looked 80 years old when we got there and already stained) the bins were ‘wrong’… we had to by a bin for the house to begin with. No hoover provided to try to keep the house clean.
The house tried each week to deep clean, make sure everything is tidy etc but clearly they just want money any chance they can.

If you do sign for a tenancy with this company, I would advise that you record & document the condition of the property when handed over.
I would advise that you record & document every issue/conversation/interaction that you have with any member of staff, including the maintenance team.
I would advise ensuring that you have proof from the maintenance team that any work they carry out has been approved & authorised by the owner of the property & MCR Move where applicable.
These recommendations are to ensure you do not receive ficticious charges at the end of your tenancy.
My experience of MCR Move has been very stressful, upsetting & costly. I sincerely hope that no other family is exposed to the dishonesty & questionable practices of this agency.

My advice if using this company is to ensure you take photos of everything when you move in and put all requests in writing as they deny all knowledge of verbal requests. They will try to take money off the bond for the slightest thing (e.g. a chair being moved to a different room!) They are happy to provide inadequate equipment e.g. a fridge/freezer with no freezer drawers or shelf for bottles in the fridge door yet don't allow for any general wear and tear. Avoid using this company if you can!

Upon living there we encountered so many problems with the house only to be told that it’s not their problem and doing the bare minimum to get by. Then when moving out they then tried to charge me and my flats mates for stupid things including furniture that came with the room, to remove it!

MCR Move obtained management of the property we stayed in for three years after the first year of our student tenancy there. The two years with them went so smoothly for us, even through the whole series of covid lockdowns. Their in-house maintenance team were always responding to requests and coming to inspect issues within very good time, replaced multiple appliances, mattresses, and hired contractors to resolve structural problems. When returning our deposit they only made the most reasonable deductions especially considering we lived there for three years. From our experience, I’d highly recommend MCR Move and keeping in good communication with them throughout your tenancy as they are very professional, friendly and willing to help.

When I left my house I left some valuable things in my room by accident. Upon realising this later the same day I emailed. MCR MOVE then broke the law by binning all my stuff without any effort to contact me at all, and have said that the new tenants have already moved in, however last year they told us we needed to wait until 10th July due to their policies and cleaning so it’s odd that this year people have managed to move in in under 1 working day. They lie to make their jobs easier and are now refusing to talk to me on the phone. Just another student landlord that doesn’t care about it’s tenants. AVOID

Unless you fancy living in a pest infested house avoid this company! My sister is currently living in a mouse infested house 'managed' by this company. She is dealing with mouse droppings on the kitchen surface and bedroom and has heard and seen mice! She alerted MCR to this on Sunday. Their response.. we'll deal with this on Thursday. Apparently she's expected to live in a house with mice in for the next few days, no apology or compensation. She even found a same day pest control company that would come out but MCR are refusing to pay. Awful company, not to mention all the other issues there's been with the house (building materials left when she moved in, no warning of new tenants moving in, cracked bathroom tiles). James from MCR, who my sister spoke with, was incredibly rude, blamed her for the mice ( not the case as she is clean and tidy) and refused to deal with the issue urgently and offered no apology. I doubt the staff at MCR would be happy to live in a mouse infested house so why would they let their paying clients?! Not one to write reviews like this but when a company refuses to provide basic living standards it can't go unheard! Attached the photos of the house when she moved in.. (the agents claim the house was clean and tidy when she moved in)

Showed up and gave a 5 min tour of the flat very rushed. It wasn’t even the same flat from the listing but a totally different flat but the listing made it seem like it would be that exact flat.
It was in a block of maybe 3 flats so it wouldn’t have been hard to use photos of the actual flat…
Lazy and a bit of a scam using pictures of a nicer flat to try get people in. I would avoid this agency as they aren’t very professional

Had a student tenancy with this estate agent for the year August 2020-June 2021. Very professional, quick responses to emails and usually had 'emergency work' or issues dealt with the same day or day after. Were also very understanding towards some international students in our house and granted rent holidays when they weren't legally able to return to the UK. Had one major issue of small fire (at 2am, bathroom extractor fan fire) and unfortunately their emergency phone-line did not work - however they dealt with the aftermath and provided adequate reassurances (full assessment of the incident was done very well). I cannot stress how well this was handled - as were other repairs. Icing on the cake was that they returned full deposit (matters a lot to students!) even taking into account general wear and tear in the property. Would rent with again - recommend.

Just finished our tenancy with MCR Move and had a positive experience renting through them. They were very responsive to any maintenance issues we had and always did a small risk assessment regarding the danger of them. When we had an issue with our boiler, MCR Move sent a maintenance worker round to fix it within the hour. Both estate agents and maitnenance staff are very professional and helpful. At the end of the tenancy, MCR Move were reasonable in releasing our deposit to us. They requested a small fee for a small issue, but after we showed them that it was present when we moved in, they were happy to drop the charges. I understand that unresponsiveness during a tenancy and not receiving your deposit is a concern for many people when renting, but I recommend MCR Move as a trustworthy and reasonable estate agents for students to rent through.

I am a guarantor for a tenancy, unfortunately I received the contract to sign today at 11.23 requiring an immediate signature or my son would not have a lease.
With no time to read or digest a contract which makes me question the details of the contract and why I am not allowed the day to read through it.
No reputable agents would act in this way which speaks volumes.

Avoid at all costs. They just scam you out of your money. Don’t do any maintenance work unless you send them 1000 emails. Couldn’t sleep of 2 of the mattresses when we moved in. Take a ridiculous amount of money off you and then don’t send invoices and justify it. Don’t waste you money, ridiculous company.

Took £192 from our deposits for cleaning, granted we should’ve doubled checked. But there was only a few wrappers on the floor which would take 2 minutes to sweep up.
Rent was £450.66, so you’d expect a lovely clean house when you move in. They recliner chair was badly broken, tv was broken, Grill in the oven had come off, blood stained mattress, hold in the wall, stains on the curtains. One house mate had to sleep on the sofa for 2 weeks before the blood stained mattress was replaced. Tv was replaced with a second hand one. Surely for the amount the rent it you’d expect new things.
They can’t justify the cleaning charge and don’t send you the invoice. They took £100 for the counter in the kitchen which was only damaged as the kettle they provided sparked and it burnt the counter a little bit.
Overall I’d advise not to rent from them as they don’t clean the house before you move in. They don’t make sure Everything works before you move in. Finally it takes weeks of sending them emails before they fix anything. Don’t waste your money with them.

Arranged for a move out inspection which my guardian travelled 100 miles to attend , MCR Moves did not attend after booking it with them and then slammed big fines for all housemates with made up costs, including a “waste removal fee” for accidentally leaving food in the freezer which I offered to collect to avoid any charges.
Seen many posts online with many students experiencing the same issue.
Also had an issue all year with our garden which was not sorted the whole duration of the tenancy.
Once you’ve signed up for them, they are not fussed about your wellbeing.

AVOID Mcr Move at all costs! They act nice to begin with but once you’ve signed a contract they are horrible. The staff are incompetent and don’t know how to speak to people. At one point I was contacted by staff in regards to a payment and was spoken to like trash and even felt as though I had no options but suicide. They were not helpful in the slightest and especially Megan - don’t know who she thinks she is but needs firing. We had multiple issues whilst staying in the property and they were not addressed. When leaving they gave us a bill for what exactly we cleaned the property from top to bottom just to be sent a £160 bill. They will steal your money - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Go with a company your university has suggested and please do not go with them for your own safety!

Absolutely atrocious - do not trust the positive reviews left here (none of them are verified, I wonder why).
This company will screw you over as much as they possibly can. The staff are either criminally incompetent or just plain criminal, with our house recieving several unannounced visits despite our complaints, automated emails with misleading information and in one case, a housemate being locked out for the first few days of his tenancy because they only give out keys on weekdays from 9-5, something that they forgot to mention until the Monday 3 DAYS AFTER his tenancy started.
God have mercy on your soul if you have to rent a place from these weasels.

AVOID!!! I am a medical student who rented house from mcrmove last year. They were fine throughout the tenancy but at the end they were awful! Firstly cancelled our internet 2 days early then said there was nothing they could do. Secondly spent the weekend cleaning the house then they charged us 160 pound for cleaning when the house was clean! Pictures taken by them showing cleaning only show minimal things like a new lightbulb left on the work surface (that they left there!!) And a tiny bit of dust on the floor. Thirdly they agreed with one housemate (A) fhat she could use her deposit for last month rent when it wasn't discussed with me or the other housemate (B) and therefore cleaning costs were only split between me and housemate B and housemate A is refusing to pay her part and the estate agents said nothing they can do because one housemate agreed therefore all 3 of us must have agreed!! So angry!

Wonderful, friendly and supportive - I needed to move quickly and they managed to get everything done in under a week for me! From the initial viewing to the tenancy agreements and collecting my keys - I cannot thank them enough for their efficiency and for getting everything done so quickly!!

The worst letting company by far. Landlord is a disgrace, new recruitments are very heavily needed as current staff are clueless. The maintenance team are shambolic. What an awful and useless company. I strongly advise all other students not to use them.

7 in the morning after finishing my overnight shift,i realised i had forgot my key i rang the 'emergancy contact number' for mcr move and they REFUSED to come and let me in sat outside in the piss wet rain and had to wait for 2 hours, its an absloute joke rude staff as well.

MCRmove have been brilliant so far; I've had some unforeseen housing problems leaving me out of a house for july. I had been in contact with MCRmove off and on and they were very helpful and considerate (despite my constant pestering) and have helped me out to a degree beyond what they would normally need to do. Would definitely recommend. Lovely people.

We contacted MCR Move looking for an apartment for our student daughter. Right from the first viewing we were impressed by the helpful, friendly professional approach. Communication was excellent, as they patiently helped us novices through the various steps, always answering our questions promptly. They helped us find a lovely apartment, which was spotlessly clean and well maintained.
All in all, a stress-free experience, with top quality customer service - they did what they promised to do, when they promised to do it. We are happy to highly recommend them - thank you James and your team.

MCR MOVE make renting your property easy and stressfree. As a letting agent, they really bridge that gap, I own multiple properties and I wouldn't let anyone else near my portfolio at all. They are friendly, communicative and also incredibly professional.

Fantastic service and excellent communication! If anyone is look to rent out a property this is the company to choose. They make everything clear, simple and easy for you and are always there to help you! The most unhelpful people ever. They would never come and fix any problems we had we would have to call multiple times and would barely get an answer.
The organisation and management is a joke, couldn't get decent advise from then what so ever.

Complete imbeciles. Another estate agents who try to scam students who won't know any better. Never fix anything in the house, make up lies, try to avoid giving you the deposit back. I strongly advise any students to pick a better estate agents as MCR Move are absolutely dire. Glad to be rid of them.
