Murrays know the Oakham area well. The team are easy to contact. and courteous. Viewings are arranged promptly and the staff that show one around are helpful - though they did not always know about access to odd corners like garage, loft, garden shed. My impression is that Murrays value properties rather higher than other estate agents, and above local going rates - which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.... Read more

Having sold through Murray’s in uppingham, the whole team then helped us find a property to buy. We bought through the Oakham branch, who were professional, always returned calls when they said and showed us around the property numerous times before we moved in.
Thank you all so much for making this very stressful time much easier!... Read more

Terrible customer service. That’s if they even allow customers to view the houses for rent! Wouldn’t let me view a property for rent then proceeded to inform me it had gone to the landlords relative! Finding this all out after I had been told two days in a row someone would call me back to view the property. Wouldn’t recommend their service.... Read more

We are in a position to buy. Viewed a property but they hadn’t got the key for a workshop that was with the house. We were very interested but asked if we could see the workshop. They said I’ll ring you when we have got the key. I wasn’t happy about that as we needed to make a decision regarding the property and we were wanting to make an offer so I suggested that I book a second viewing for 5 days later so that they had chance to get the key.. We met them at the property for the 2nd viewing. We took a tape measure etc and had decided to make an offer even though we still couldn’t get in the workshop so on the way home we popped in the oakham office to make an offer. We walked in and said we had just been to second view this property and a woman said we have just accepted an offer on it from a viewing the day before. The woman offered no sympathy and failed to sit us down and say.something like I’ll be in touch if it falls through or I’ll let you know of others that come up. if I was the owner I would be annoyed that they made no attempt to see if they got another offer from us knowing it was a second viewing and therefore there could have been an opportunity to make more money for the owners by having two independent bids. At no point where we told of the other viewing and had we known we would of made a decision prior to the other viewers. There was a complete lack of customer service and I came out saying well that was a complete waste of time having spent hours thinking about and visiting the property over the past few days. You should be ashamed of the appalling service. The woman in the office needs a customer facing course. I’d never use or buy from them. They do nothing to make you feel like they give a damn !!... Awful company.Lazy, greedy and rude. No idea how they are still operating. Do not use at all. NEED INVESTIGATED
Where to start? Experience was poor from the beginning. Illegally listing houses with "No children" , "No dogs".
Husband in receipt of a injury benefit (war) and Murray tried to tell us they couldn't accept any benefits of any kind. (illegal) Despite both of us receiving an additional income on top (should have been our first warning, however thankfully everything was documented.)
They don't use up to date photos on the adverts. Found out our house photos were over 7 years old and not even slightly correct. Luckily we had viewed property and saw the true state of it. (TAKE YOUR OWN PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING)
Was hundreds of pounds over priced. They were lucky our house sale had gone through or we would have walked away.
Staff are not only rude and unprofessional but actually breaking laws due to their complete and utter incompetence. Hayley Scott of Murray Oakham Letting team, was one of the worst staff members I have ever come across rude, made up lies of the property condition (again luckily had our own photos) rifled through our belongings (like non inbuilt cupboards). Utterly obsessed with a scuff mark on the wall (which we had said several times we would happily paint over.) Yet when you actually needed her they completely ignore maintenance and emergency requests. It took nearly 7 months to fix a leak and a hole in the roof! Dangerous mould mounting up in one bedroom which was never fixed. Also had a porch that leaked into the electrical light in the hallway, stated several times it was due to the water coming from above, took photos and reported it (honestly it was probably an electric shock waiting to happen.) Had an electrician come to look at it (Steve). He said -obviously- he couldn't fix it until the leak had stopped above but would disconnect it until it was fixed. The light fixing then continued to dangle for months.
Had health reports done due to mould and was advised to take legal action. Only when council got involved did they bother to return a single phone call. When they realised they would have to do something about the mould and horrific conditions they attempted to remove us from the property.
Unlike Murray, both the council and myself were knowledgeable in housing law so thankfully were able to protect ourselves until we found somewhere new.
During the searching time for a new property we were harassed, with emails, and had members of the property team of Murray turn up unannounced claiming to be there for a show round. (not happening.) and finally they claimed they were "fixing" problems within the house (probably saw £££ when they realised they could re-list it but would have to actually do some work.)
The electrician finally returned when we were due to leave, Hayley Scott Murray Oakham lettings adviser kept trying to turn up when he was there, at the time I couldn't work out why (because they never fixed the leak in the porch) Then found out months later that they were having an affair! So not only ,totally unprofessional but disgusting. (and thank god I worked from home.)
Before we left I found the landlords details, and wrote in great detail about how disappointed we were with the service and expressed how if he couldn't find another service provider, that his house was going to be left in an awful state. He eventually wrote back to us to say he a) Knew nothing about the problems and b) could we pay him for the rent we owed. We didn't owe him any rent, Murray had stolen his money and attempted to use this as an excuse to remove us from the property. How they thought they would get away with that I'll never understand as we had internet banking and could prove every payment??? They then backtracked and claimed it to be a mistake. (Which they never apologised for.) The imbecile landlord has since relisted with Murray.
Terrible from the start; discriminatory, rude, liars, poor communication, terrible service providers and breaking the law at every opportunity.... Read more

On the marketing price Murray’s were 20k above their rivals . They find a buyer very quickly. So why am I dissatisfied ? Because , and we’re talking about a chain of only 3 houses ( I was the last in the chain) they didn’t check or ask about our buyer’s buyer ( “ not something we can do wasn’t the pathetic excuse( tosh !) mortgage situation. Unbelievable . Our buyer’s buyer struggled mortgage wise and we had to chip the price to get the deal through . I wasn’t happy .... Read more

Contacted over the weekend about a house they had for sale on Arnhill Road, Gretton! A women called me back and left a message as I was working. So I called back and no one was available, she then returned my call (in the end) and said I left her a message and she didn’t know what it was regarding, she was rude and sounded as if she didn’t want to be there! I said well someone left me a message this morning but strangely enough I work so I couldn’t answer. Her reply was well I don’t know what house You was on about. So I just gave up!! I feel sorry for the sellers as I’m chain free and was very interested. But heck no would I buy with an estate agent involved that is like this!... Read more

Property listings are matched to data from the Land Registry by our clever algorithm. Clever as it may be, it isn't always right, especially if a property was listed by multiple agents. The asking price is the original listing price, NOT the final listing price.
