Incompetence and Shady Practice. Avoid
Despite the good reviews here, I recently purchased a property through Nicol and Co Worcester and my experience was absolutely terrible. It started with the initial offer. I was told ‘another buyer’ had a higher offer so I went away and gave our final offer which was scoffed at by the agent over the phone. We didn’t consider this very professional at all.
A month or so later the ‘other buyer’ pulled out and the same offer was accepted. I don’t believe another buyer even existed but cannot prove so will give the benefit of the doubt. We were then hounded for paperwork and to complete ASAP. Whilst this may seem normal the aggressiveness of this will become important in due course…
We had a house buying survey done a found a serious fault with the property. When I rang the agent about this, they seemed to know about it (and didn’t declare it as part of the sale). They then played it down. All during this time they were trying to push us to complete as soon as possible.
We regrettably agreed a very small reduction with the seller for the fault because we wanted to complete the sale and move in. All this time the agent was pushing us aggressively to complete.
The real issue came when we were a few months in and almost ready to exchange. OUR solicitor found the seller had no legal right to even sell the property! so Nicol and Co hadn’t done basic due diligence checks from the seller whilst aggressively hounding the buyer to complete...
They also didn’t declare to us when they found out - it was our solicitor who highlighted this to us during the process.
This subsequently delayed the sale several weeks and cost us a lot of money and personal plans as were almost about to exchange. Furthermore, during the process we spend more money to speed things up e.g. paying extra for a surveyor who could come out next day instead of next week etc.
I tried to escalate the Matt the MD but was referred to the line manager of the person I was dealing with who just gave empty promises that they will complete as soon as possible.
Overall we’ve been left out of pocket due to their incompetence and not doing basic checks which would be expected. We also consider it very shady business that the fault was not declared.
I recommend buyers and sellers avoid Nicol and Co

With huge thanks to Hannah and Erica for making the sale of my parents’ bungalow as painless as possible. Having had a bad experience with another estate agent when trying to sell my house I cannot recommend Nicol & Co enough. They walk you through every element of the process, making sure you're kept aware of what's going on every step of the way. What I particularly liked was the after sale support - the "sale progressor" role - my previous experience across the years has been that once a sale has been secured you're pretty much left to keep pushing the solicitors along yourself, ringing backwards and forwards between solicitors / estate agents who in turn get onto the buyers who in turn get onto their solicitors. Nicol & Co do all this proactively for you. Kat Grealy was exemplary in this role for us. Cannot recommend enough.

My daughter bought a house via them last year and was very impressed with them so I was really pleased to see that they were the agents for a property that we were interested in. I recently bought a house in Worcester and having been through this process several times I am very used to dealing with Estate Agents and didn't have very high expectations. Wow was I wrong! Nicol & Co were thorough and professional throughout and their Senior Sales Progressor Leanne Fletcher was an absolute joy to deal with. She was constantly in touch, with updates on how things were progressing, without being pushy, she liaised with all parties regularly, gently reminding and getting things done swiftly. The whole process was done and dusted in ten weeks which is amazing during covid times and current working practices (my last purchase took 6 months!) and that was in no small part because of Leanne's efficiency and tenaciousness. Both myself and my wife have used Nicol & Co Estate agents several times now and we really wouldn't go anywhere else. They are professional in everything that they do, communicate well and are responsive and they provide an excellent service which goes way beyond what I'd normally expect from an estate agent.
They make the whole process, whether buying and/or selling, so much easier and less stressful. Unfortunately I can only give them 5 stars but I certainly believe they are worth more.
Just to add to this. Our recent sale went through without a hitch thanks to the efforts of Leanne and the team (special mention to Lara on the sales team who was excellent!) who not only made sure that everything was done in a timely manner but kept everyone informed on both sides of the sale of where we were in the process etc., they really do above and beyond at Nicol's. I wouldn't use anyone else to sell a property.

I can’t speak highly enough of Nicol & Co, and particularly Yuri, in his client service and arranging our tenancy.
Yuri really went above and beyond to source a rental property that matched our requirements, budget and desired area and kept me updated throughout the whole process.
All this against the backdrop of a short notice relocation from Penzance to Worcester to begin work, during a pandemic and amongst a competitive rental market for tenants. It really took the burden out of what would have been a particularly stressful time!

Until now I've always found estate agents to be pretty much the same, lots of optimistic promises while pitching for the business, then pretty indifferent performance once I was hooked in. Nicol and Co are different, that initial bright start stayed right the way through the process, from contracting, to preparing the sales collateral, to viewings, to managing the buyers' offers and to sale progression.
The whole team were great, but I'll specifically name check Tom for getting us onto the market so effectively in difficult times just after peak-covid, and Leanne for coordinating and driving the sale through to completion so effectively when, to be candid, solicitors sometimes seemed to have no sense of urgency or inclination to communicate at all.
I've ticked "Good Value", while Nicol and Co probably aren't the cheapest estate agent in Worcester the quality of the service more than compensates, and why would I risk skimping on a budget estate agent when selling what is probably my most valuable asset?

Selling a house in the middle of a pandemic was probably not the best timing; my house went on the market a day or two after lockdown. Despite this, Robin worked tirelessly each day to organise many virtual viewings, resulting in a fairly quick sale above the asking price. What should’ve been a stressful experience really wasn’t. Following this, Evie dealt with the endless calls to solicitors and went above and beyond to get me the exchange and completion date I wanted so that I could move in the summer holidays. We dealt with Nicol & Co twice. The first time was a few years ago when we were looking at a rental property near Worcester. The lady that showed us around knew very little about the house and didn't seem very interested. That being said, we often experienced a lack of interest from estate agents because (prospective) tenants are usually not a priority.
A few months ago, however, we were looking at a property for sale and I was actually pretty excited, given the positive reviews Nicol & Co has. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. The lady that welcomed us at the property was friendly but she didn't know anything about the house at all. She read out a few facts from a questionnaire the owners had filled out and then she left us to look around by ourselves. I didn't mind too much, being able to explore the house by ourselves had it's advantages too. However, she couldn't answer any of the questions that had popped up. She made a note and said someone would get in touch to let us know but that never happened.
The worst part was, that we made it very clear we were looking for a house with either an attic or a cellar because we needed storage. We asked to see the cellar and she said there was no cellar. I thought I must have gotten it wrong then, surely she would know. When we left she gave us a brochure with a floorplan, which showed a cellar. We didn't notice until we got home but it was quite annoying.
We then received a few calls from Nicol & Co to rate their service etc but whenever I mentioned the questions that remained unanswered or the issue wirh the cellar - no one responded or asked us if we would like to arrange a second viewing.
A few weeks later the property price was dropped and we purchased a different property not too long after.
Honestly, based on my experience I would not trust Nicol & Co to sell my house. It didn't seem like they made an effort to sell this particular house at least.
On the bright side, everyone we dealt with was very friendly.

When we decided to sell our property we invited a number of local Agents round. The service proposition and understanding of the local property market presented to us by Dominique was head and shoulders above the other Agents. The marketing material produced was of a high quality and really did represent our property well, it would have certainly contributed to a sale on the third viewing.
The service provided by Nicole & Co includes regular updates on the chain, negating the need to call our Solicitor. Another great service is assistance to complete the daunting property questionnaire, this was done on an evening in our home. Having someone guide you through and explain the questions definitely helps. This ensured everything was ready to present to our Solicitor once we accepted our offer.
When looking for our new home we engaged with Gemma, who understood our requirements in terms of what our next property needed to offer. She sent through relevant properties that met our requirements, as opposed to other Agents who we registered our interest with, despite spending time explaining what we were looking for they sent us details of properties which were not suitable. I suspect we were just added to a mailing list and received everything regardless of suitability.
You have to expect selling and buying a property to be stressful, however I am convinced this is reduced when you partner with the likes Nicole & Co.
I would, without question, recommend the services of Nicole & Co based on my experience.
