After sending my feedback directly to Palmer Snell over a week ago and as expected not receiving a response, i will now post here.
My partner and I decided to both sell our flats to hopefully buy somewhere together. As two first time sellers, we have had an awful experience with Palmer Snell. Please see the reasons below we decided to take both properties off the market with Palmer Snell and list with a different agent.
- From the first viewing onwards, we have had loo to constantly chase for feedback for days and days after the viewings. This was frustrating from the get-go, especially with the difficulty of getting through to the office. On some days, I called hourly to try and actually get through to someone. I dread to think how difficult it would be to try and arrange a viewing.
-On multiple occasions, it would take weeks to get a response to texts or emails despite multiple follow-up emails and voicemails. This started once we had signed a contract; before signing the contracts, we would get responses within hours, which never quite sat right with us.
- At one point, a potential buyer asked questions regarding the lease, which I provided the same day to Palmer Snell. When I called to ask about this potential buyer a week later, I was told the agent had been too busy to read the lease and asked if I could do it instead. At this point, the buyer was no longer interested. No apology for the lack of communication or incompetency was provided. It was a 'why don't you do yourself' approach. If we wanted to sell the properties ourselves, we wouldn't have hired an agent.
-When we had valuations for both of our properties, we were told photographers would be attending. This was never arranged for my property despite chasing this up multiple times. Photos were taken on an iPhone, which would not have been a problem if we were not told differently prior to signing a contract.
-We were also told our listing would be premium listings - it took multiple emails and calls to actually get this to happen which we found really unprofessional.
-Throughout, there has just been an overall lack of contact - every update from pre and post-sale we have needed to chase for ourselves. There was no initiative to help the sale through or to provide any form of reassurance. As first-time sellers, this is something we really struggled with, and the whole process has lacked any form of personal touch or consideration and ultimately just been made as stressful as possible. We now have a complete lack of confidence that Palmer Snell has been doing everything possible to help with the sale. To be entirely honest, I would have resented making payment if the sale were to have continued, as it would be for a service that has only ever involved opening the front door around five times, nothing more. We both had a really good impression after meeting Michael and Connor at the valuations and are really shocked at how we have been treated.
The silver-lining of our flats being marketed elsewhere is that we will not have to make payment to Palmer Snell but to an agent who is willing to do the work. On a side note, since listing the properties elsewhere within only a matter of weeks ago we now have an offer at full asking price, our experience with the new agent could not have been more different.

Every time I request to view a property, I get a phone call from a woman called Ella, asking all sort of questions, yes, I understand they need to know if I can afford to pay the asking price, what I don't get is why afterwards I get bombarded with texts about properties I am not remotely interested. Have you heard about GDPR? I just want a viewing, tell me date and time, all the info I have already given online and don't want to register! It is frustrating!

I have asked to take my flat out the market over 2 months ago. At the time I was asked to give 2 weeks’ notice, then I was told my flat had an offer that I accepted and when I asked to move forward with the sale and to confirm the buyer that he still interesting in buying the flat I have to wait 2 weeks and 3 calls from me, they finally admitted that the buyer really wanted the flat but didn’t have the money.
Then 2 weeks ago a friend told me that the flat is still being advertised on Rightmove and I checked the Palmersnell website and it is advertised there too. When I called to complain, I was told that it was an administrative error and lots of the old properties that are no longer available were re-advertised and that was out of their hands to fix it, I am still waiting and I truly believe that they are maliciously doing stuff to stop to put my place with a different agency.

We initially enquired about a property with Ahmed in the Westbourne branch who was efficient and responsive in every way, were then handed over to James and Jack who dealt with everything else in a most professional and helpful way, we were driving down weekly from Buckinghamshire so a four to five hour round trip every time, both James and Jack kept us informed at every juncture and nothing was to much effort for them, answering all our questions and returning our email queries promptly and professionally, they even had another set of keys cut for us within a short 24hr period. Jack and Ahmad have from the start have been very helpful, understanding and within a couple of days let my property. James is new on the team and he also has brilliant customer service.
I do find the management fee a bit high but they are always there if I need them. I also still have the flexibility of having in my own trades people making repairs etc.

I called on Friday to arrange a viewing of a flat for the Saturday and was told I would receive a confirmation text soon. Later that day as I had not received this I called and left a message to confirm the viewing but received no call back. On the Saturday we waited outside the property ans no one came so I called and was told sorry it was not booked in. I was told the person I need to speak with was not in to book this in and they will call me back later this has not happened. I would avoid buying from them but also definitely not sell via them as they don't seem in a hurry to sell properties.

Amazing service from Ahmed who went above and beyond in helping me get sorted for my new rented flat so quickly, he answered all of my questions quickly (Which I had many of being a first time renter) and followed up on any other general enquiries in a professional manner. I also had great service from James whilst Ahmed was not available and have been very happy with my service with them from start to finish. Very accommodating, professional and helpful and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

They deserve zero stars. A bad, shocking, and unprofessional experience from the branch manager Anna and her assistant Ella.
They forged a contract and handed it to us - after we had signed a different one, they added that we had to.pay professional cleaning costs on vacation of property. They later admitted doing this.
The apartment was flea infested, our wounds were infected with over 30 bites on each of our bodies - the apartment was fumigated.
Electricity supply was live and open with no door or box covering it.
There was mould in cupboards.
And all.this with our 2 year old daughter moving in with us.
They agreed after many weeks (& Rokil evidence and doctors) to allow us to break the contract and urgently leave the property.
However Anna refused our key return (when we dropped into the office as agreed). We needed to pay a lawyer to verify that we had given the keys back to them
Presumably a ploy to keep us paying for rent and bills - for an apartment unfit for human habitation.
Then tried to withhold our deposit, for many months - we had to go to arbitration to finally get it returned to us.
As for their complaints procedure at Countrywide - they have continually ignored most of our complaints, and not taken any responsibility for poor and shocking service.

Seem lovely, professional and helpful until you move in and your intro only landlord isn't paying them any money anymore. Have emailed and called a number of times, as has my boyfriend and my neighbours, to ask for a "let by" sign to be removed from our property. Never had a response and the sign has been there for over 7 months.
Returned said sign to their office ourselves this morning and still haven't heard from them. Not sure if they're too incompetent to reply to an email or just plain rude. Either way, I would avoid using them at all costs, either as a tenant or a landlord.

The Lettings Manager was very friendly, she was knowledgable and accommodating and the two other staff members made me feel very comfortable and welcomed!
