I have lived in London for 5 years, in 4 different flats for the first 3, and in a flat managed by Proprium for the last 2.
One might think that whoever manages your accommodation does not really matter — if so, think again.
The first 4 agents I have dealt with have been very difficult and unaccommodating; let’s not get into specifics.
Proprium on the other hand have been so helpful as soon as any issue has arisen, and it is a pleasure meeting them all in the staircase every day. Not sure if related to Proprium in any way, but it is as if everyone in the building are friends or part of a little community — never have I ever seen such a nice neighbour situation in London. Should I ever be unfortunate enough to have to move from the current flat, I would specifically call Proprium to see if they have anything available, before even checking Rightmove / Zoopla.... Would give 0 stars. I received the worst service I have ever experienced from Justin at Proprium. He was 'managing' our building in Knightsbridge; the building needed exterior works and we were sent through huge quotes to get the works done; when I asked that we have a qualified surveyor come out to do a report and find the route cause of the issue, in order to stop the problem from carrying on; this was when Justin's rude behaviour came to light. He was extremely difficult to deal with and ended up bringing someone to look at the works, that was not a qualified surveyor but a 'friend'. I was in the flat working whilst they were looking at what needed to be done, when I overheard him speaking rudely about myself and my partner. I then came out to question the works, where he carried on being extremely rude to my face. After he left the flat, I sent an email stating how upset I was that I had been treated this way, to which he did not reply. We requested accounts for the service charges and how they had been managing the money, which took months to receive and at the end my partner had to call the head office as Justin was not replying to any emails or answering any calls. I would avoid this managing agent at all costs. They are rude and not interested in serving the needs of the residents.... Read more
