I can’t praise Starkey and Brown enough. I’m local to Lincoln so I House do you know the Estate Agents but getagent recommended starkey and brown along with two others. Fraser the agent was knowledgeable, very interested in the property and communicated really well. On the first day I had two viewings both put offers in and in the end it went to final bids and Starkey & Brown handled all this superbly. I can highly recommend them.

Finding the right property is exciting, but navigating the buying process can be daunting. Thankfully, we had Angie from Starkey & Brown on our side!
From the first conversation, Angie was professional and friendly. She clearly explained the next steps and kept us informed throughout the entire purchase.
Angie was fantastic at chasing up the seller's side, ensuring a smooth flow of communication. Her proactive approach meant we were not left waiting or wondering about what was happening next.
Unfortunately, it took some time for our purchase to progress due to delays with the seller's chain. The lack of communication from their solicitors was causing a lot of stress, especially with delays in the seller’s chain. Had we not had Angie chasing updates and proactively contacting other parties involved, we would have walked away.
Angie did not just chase updates; she suggested the eventual fix to the issue holding the completion up. Her expertise in handling communication between all parties was invaluable. There were times when we were not sure whether we would ever complete, but Angie was always patient and happy to answer all our questions, no matter how small. Her constant reassurance and proactive approach were a lifesaver.
Thanks to Angie's dedication, clear communication, and problem-solving skills, we finally have a completion date and could not be happier. We cannot recommend her highly enough!

Angie and the rest of the staff at Starkey & Brown were wonderful to deal with; they understood that as fist time buyers we may need a little more a helping hand, and this was no trouble for them.
From the initial arrangement of the viewing, to paperwork to getting our offer in to buyin g the property and completion, Angie was helpful, communicated with us on time, all the time (unlike our Solictors!) and despite doing this all day, every day, was jsut as excited for us when we went in to get the keys!

Just had a very recent horrendous and negative dealing with this estate agents. They advertised a 3 - bedroomed property in Lincoln for sale that was something of which I was looking for. During the first initial viewing I was told directly to my face by the agent that the gas fire was fully operational and worked perfectly. So, as you do, you take it as the truth has been told. "WHY ELSE WOULD THEY NOT TELL THE TRUTH"? After moving in to the property I could not get the gas fire to work and noticed the chimney escape was TAPED UP. Two weeks after the purchase a large A4 envelope arrived through my door with the GAS FIRE SAFETY NOTICE stating that in 2020 the fire had been condemned due to a BLOCKED FLU" so therefore condemned and capped off. At no stage prior to the purchase was I sent any photocopies of such condemnation certificates to look through and make my own mind up as to whether I still wanted the property or not?!! After getting the boiler fully serviced two days after getting these gas fire safety notices the gas technician stated that normally a blocked flu is the result of the chimney having a blockage ie bricks coming loose etc and can be very expensive to rectify. So my point is this... "WHY WAS THIS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION NOT DISCLOSED AT ANYTIME TO ME VERBALLY OR IN ANY DESCRIPTION"? My disappointment is that this very important information was (so I feel) deliberately withheld so I go through with the sale and without the possibility of me wanting to shave some of the asking price off or even pulling out from the sale altogether. The persistent harassment phone calls from Angie were bad enough, but the gas fire was the cherry on the cake! The score of which I have given reflects the way I have been treated as a PURCHASER AND NOT AS A PERSON. If I could have given NO STARS then I would. When I sell my property STARKEY AND BROWN will not be on my list of estate agents to approach.

I was disappointed by how much they overcharge with final deductions from my deposit. I had to pay 100 just to clean an oven that was never used since I first entered the flat, for instance. The agency can advise the landlords not to be predatory with the deposit.

Having recently selling our property with Starkey and Brown we fully recommend their service. Throughout the whole process we felt fully supported, especially from Angie who deals with aftercare. Angie supported us with advice, chasing people up and keeping us updated. Our first chain unfortunately collapsed when our seller pulled out and Angie was so supportive, and spent the time checking in to make sure we were ok. We always felt Angie had our best interests at heart, and have said a few times how using Starkey and Brown was fully worth the money purely for her support. Spoken to a member of the team yesterday and was informed the sales team was in a meeting. I had left a number of questions including my contact details for a member of the sales team to reply. No response. Called today only to be told the same details, the sales team are in a meeting. Feedback for the Managing Director, as a customer I would expect the team to be readily available once your business is open. If you are to hold a sales meeting I would expect the team to engage out of hours which would not impact on your customers and clients. Fortunately it has been advertised as a dual agent and I have now approached that agent which is more responsive.

Frazer Cobb did a great job of taking full details of the property with good pictures and unlike some other agencies took the time to get to know me and what I wanted to achieve from the sale. Quite clear that the communication within Starkey and Brown is spot on. Whoever I dealt with knew exactly what was happening with the property and the sale. Never had to go over anything just because I was talking to a different member of staff. During the lockdown I dealt with one of the directors, Michael Brown. Obvious that the helpful, professional and friendly mode of working within the company comes from the top. Thanks Michael. Once a sale had been agreed I was dealing with Angie Powell as the sales progressor. What a star. If there are any problems with a sale Angie will sort them. She will do it with a smile too. I'm rather going to miss the update calls now. I know my buyer is of the same opinion about the service we have both received. I did initially have a visit and quote from another local agent. Full of their own self importance and I felt their main aim was getting their percentage as quickly as possible. Felt much more confident in Starkey and Brown and that confidence wasn't misplaced. I achieved a sale price higher than the other agent suggested I should market the property. Just need the lockdown to be over so I can visit the office to thank everyone in person. I had moved my properties over from one of Lincolns worst agencies to Starkey and Browns . I was impressed with the service , particularly a lovely young man called Ryan . When he left it dipped in quality of service . Anita came along and she is wonderful. There have been mistakes made but until now it was good . Yesterday I get a phone call from the previous awful agency to say Starkey and Brown have sold the letting portfolio to them , including my properties. I had NO notice what so ever . No emails or phone calls. I am in the middle of renting a house out then I find the previous agency have taken it over . I am not happy . I would never use the agency you transferred your lettings too again. Therefore I had no choice but to seek another agent , this meant cancelling viewings through the bad agent and going through relisting it again. Had I known this was planned sooner I would have had time to transfer the properties over sooner . Until now starkeys has been a fairly good agency . Now any respect has been lost .
I am aware staff have been moved also but I refuse to have anything to do with the dreadful agent you passed my house to. I did email Mr Starkey direct 2 weeks ago and so far no reply .

Communication between letting agent, tenant and landlord is very below par as we had been reporting cracks in the walls that were getting bigger for 2.5 years. The landlord did come round and say, oh those cracks are coming back and don’t worry about it. Since moving out we have now been charged for those structural cracks. Also after moving out and handing the keys back to starkey and brown in May we have also been charged for rent in June. We have tried to resolve this by phoning starkey and brown to be told they won’t talk to us about this. This review is only scratching the surface of problems but we would be here all day writing an essay.

From the very start to the very finish Starkey&Brown were simply amazing! Frazer was extremely professional and knew exactly what he was talking about, he answered all my questions and concerns without hesitation and didnt pester me every day asking for a descion that we hadn't yet made. Once we had instructed S&B Frazer ensured all staff were aware of us coming onto the market (despite us not yet being on Rightmove) which resulted in a viewing booked by Debbie for that very weekend. In the end we didnt need rightmove as Debbie sold our house almost immediately! Amazing! After we accepted the offer Angie kept us up to date and fully informed as well as chasing our solicitors when we needed her to. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and the efficiency, professionalism and enthusiasm of every single person involved in our sale was unbelievable! Frazer took amazing photos of our house to begin with and got the price spot on (also the price I wanted for the house) and it sold within two days. Don't be fooled by the major online agent - they hugely undervalued our house on purpose. Go with these guys. They've got a great reputation for a reason and understand the local market. Big thanks also to Clare the manager for taking my calls and constant questions. Finally to Debbie, who essentially made this move happen by chasing up our solicitors constantly and always being at the end of the phone to reassure and offer advice. I booked a viewing with this agency. Day and time of the viewing were confirmed via email and via text on the same day. Due to an error in the system, they couldn't show me the property on the day and they could not re-arrange it via Skype. I couldn't come another day as I don't live there so I wasted my time and money for a viewing that did not take place. They apologised for it.

Starkey and Brown were professional and knowledgeable from start to finish of the sale of my house and I didn't imagine it would be as straightforward and stress free as it turned out to be.
Their valuation of my house was very accurate leading to a good amount of interest but not so much interest which would have led to me thinking it was undervalued, something which happened to a neighbour a month or so before my property went up for sale.
Each time I contacted Starkey and Brown with any questions I always felt they were pleased I had asked for their support and advice, whether that was dropping in at their office, phoning or e-mailing.
If I ever sell again I won't approach 3 estate agents as I did this time but I'll be going straight to Starkey and Brown and will always recommend them to anyone else.

As a first-time seller, I was unsure about which estate agent to choose. For several reasons I was so glad I chose Starkey & Brown! From the moment of my initial inquiry to completion, I felt I was in professional hands. Every single person I dealt with at Starkey & Brown was efficient and friendly.
In my initial selection of an estate agent, I ‘tested’ a couple of other local well-known estate agents by asking them to value my property. I discounted three, for various reasons; Haart, William Brown and Pygott & Crone.
With Starkey & Brown there was simply a different vibe. I was treated with a level of care that I had not experienced elsewhere. It felt like they were helping me to sell my home, not just a house. Debbie Negus was absolutely brilliant. She explained everything in an easy-to-understand way and gave fantastic advice at every step of the process. Nothing was too much trouble. She became like a friend as well as being a trusted professional.
Frazer Cobb took fantastic photos of my property. He took time in doing so and put thought and effort into the composition and angles whilst using high-spec gear with ease. (Once they were published online, one of the other estate agents phoned me to say they thought the photos weren’t very good – that they could do a much better job – which was a cheap shot and only served to reaffirm I’d made the right choice of Starkey & Brown, and not them! The photos were great – I’m a photographer so can speak with qualification.)
If ever I phoned the office, every staff member at Starkey & Brown knew about my property and where the process was – which speaks of a good team ethos and effective internal communication. Everyone was friendly and there was never any fast-talking sales-spin or unrealistic promises as I experienced with some of the other agents.
Debbie was very reassuring and calm and I felt we were on the journey together, from start to finish. It was also evident that she cared in the same way for my buyer, which was heartening as I wanted the buyer to have an equally positive experience when moving into my old home!
The sale completed without delay and I never had to chase; I was consulted at every step of the way and given at least weekly updates in between.
Starkey & Brown also had very reasonable rates and actually cost less than the other quotes I received. In addition they were the only estate agent among the ones I researched that advertised on both Right Move and Zoopla which was an important factor in my selection.
In a nutshell, I would highly recommend Starkey & Brown.
Thank you Debbie and Frazer, you ensured the selling process was a swift, pleasant and professional experience.

This review is written as a buyer. I viewed 40 houses through different agents and a couple via Starkey & Brown and they were one the best in terms of contacting them, accomodating viewings and not over pressuring in the follow up calls. Ben was very friendly and did a great job keeping me up to date with viewings and respecting my opinion if I didn't feel it was for me.
I eventually bought a property that was on the market with Starkey and Brown. The sales progressor did a good job pushing things through and more importantly keeping people informed (this is important to me as an anxious person, sorry for the odd email pushing for information).
The sale took exactly 2 months from offer accepted to completion with a small chain. Not bad going really.
I can't comment on the seller side of things but people looking to put your property on the market, Starkey and Brown at least to me seem one of the best for the buyer facing side of things. Some places I wouldnt consider buying due to the agents unless the price was spectacular but not Starkey and Brown.

Number 66 to be precise, each month completion was further away in August I through the solicitors and Starkey and Brown that I requested completion by 30th September 2017 as I felt I had waited long enough
I was told by Anita and I have a recorded telephone conversation when Anita states that the Sellers are unlikely to complete before December 2017 if then, yet Starkey and Brown re market the property knowing the fact and it is now again SSTC I am awaiting as to what date the property completes and wondered if the whole sale was a scam or whether another would be purchaser is in for an expensive waiting game?

Billy sold our house in 4 days for the asking price! Angie looked after us and our buyers like a mama bear looks after her cubs! Our buyers buyer and estate agent/solicitors were unbelievably difficult to deal with and caused issue after issue after issue right up to the wire but Angie refused to be beaten and got us the result that we needed. Sold my house with them but at the last minute it fell through. Bad buyers, that I had concerns over from the start and in the end proved correct. Buyers kept coming round checking things out, bringing builders, slagging the layout off and the wife was extremely disrespectful about me to my partner. I told starkey to inform them I was unhappy and had enough of them. I also told them to tell them no more viewings. This was not communicated and they then said they would do further viewings even though I had told them no more!They pacified them To achieve the sale and gain the commission even though there were clear warning signs. Cost me over £1000 in wasted fees and surveys. Listen to your customers Starkey!

As a landlord, I have found the service provided by S&B to be excellent both for me and for our tenants. Call and Care visits are carried out on a regular basis which ensures that any problems tenants may have can be addressed and speedily resolved. Starkey & Brown also arrange for all contractual requirements to be met (e.g. Gas Certificates, boiler servicing etc.) which saves me having to constantly check that things are being done.
Being a considerable distance away form rthe property, a contract with S&B gives me peace of mind.
The accounts department are prompt with the correct payment into my account and provide detailed invoices by e-mail within 7 days.
The professional staff in the Lettings Department are very approachable and do their level best to resolve any difficulties the tenant or landlord may have

WARNING - This agent should be avoided at all cost!
I have seen the hole that they made in my friend's lawn, which you can put your whole hand down. They had given the boardman the wrong address to put up their 'For Sale' sign and by the time my friend saw what was happening and intercepted the process, the hole had already been made ready to sink the board into.
My friend is with 'My Home' estate agents and has an open day with them tomorrow. 'Starkey and Brown' Agents have refused to fill in the hole they've made. Moreover,they were extremely rude to my friend when she calmly but repeatedly asked for them to repair the damage they had made and said that their director had said that there is nothing that they can do about it. 'My Home' keep you updated regularly, are polite and helpful at all times, unlike this rude , and dismissive agent - 'Starkey and Brown' Lincoln branch).
If that is the level of customer service with the general public then they certainly do not deserve any more clients.
I have noticed a review where someone who was letting from them could not get any decent repairs on the property they rented.
Please do think very long and hard before entering into any kind of letting or sales contract with them. I certainly won't be choosing them!!

I have been dealing with David starkey for the last few years and whether its setting up my buy to lets for me as a landlord or recently the sale of my current home. His professionalism, knowledge and understanding of the business just bowls me over. He his very passionate in getting sorted whatever my requirements may be and certainly knows no bounds to getting the job done and at the same time i never once felt pressured. This shows in the staff he employs and he obviously goes to great lengths to insure their take on his same passion and attitudes to all i have had the pleasure to deal with.I have recommended many of my friends and colleagues, who all have been very happy indeed.If other estate agents could be somewhere near as good , i am sure like myself actually have a happy journey with selling or buying a home.Top estate agent !!!! Bought my house with Starkey and Brown and will be going back there as and when the time comes to upsize! Both Clare and Nathan were fantastic in helping to find a home to suit my needs, as well as taking me through all the step required in the most painless way possible.
Trevor, the financial advisor provided completely impartial advice and his knowledge of schemes available to help you buy your dream home were a god send! I couldn't have bought my home without any of them!

Email sent, still waiting for a response, I wanted to view a property for sale, they seem really keen to sell their clients houses.

Starkey and Brown have been a terrible intermediary service between ourselves and our landlord. We have been living in a house for 6 months and have consistently had to fight for them to make the required LEGAL repairs to things such as: a roof leaking water, the toilet pipe being cracked and leaking water, and the inability to open the windows in our bedrooms.
They have hired sub par contractors who seem to be unable to finish basic jobs effectively, and we have just received a bill charging us for them to come back and finished work they failed to do originally.
It has been a constant struggle to get these people to actually do their job, with us doing all the work chasing people down. They failed to inform us of a change in emergency contact number, so we were in trouble when, just last week, the boiler started spraying out water.
I would urge any landlords reading this to avoid this company: they have caused us nothing but problems throughout the year- breaching the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 numerous times.

Starkey & Brown sold my house within a day of it being marketed! The service from then has continued to excellent. Anita dealt with everything and has been brilliant -she kept me updated throughout the whole process and dealt with a queries efficiently when they arose. I would definitely recommend Starkey & Brown.

Excellent service provided to two first time buyers. They were proactive in showing us properties in a none aggressive or pushy way, and only ones relevant to our searches - other agents in area were both keen to push properties outside our price range or needs, but also pressure to view. From viewing the property, our agent Thomas Beattie was accommodating in provide us with a viewing slot to suit us, and patient whilst showing us around. We feel he was both honest and genuine in his advice and thoughts, which gave us confidence in the sale. The process ran smoothly, with regular and relevant contact from the agents, both Thomas and staff in the office. Our questions were always answered quickly and professionally, no matter how trivial they may have seemed. The conclusion to the sale (picking up the keys ) was a pleasure, dealt with enthusiasm and efficiency from all parties involved.
We would highly recommend Starkey & Brown to any buyers or sellers, who made the process easy and less stressful.
