Cannot praise Alison from Whitegates Doncaster selling team highly enough. From start to finish of this sale she was highly efficient, friendly informative kept us up to date on a regular basis and was as professional as could be. Our property sold in less than 3 months and we would highly recommend Whitegates to any one wishing to sell their house. The accompanying prospective buyers service was included in the fee, some other agents we contacted wanted to charge extra for this service so we greatly appreciated that. Started off exceedingly well. Tracey and Clarke came to have a look round and both were very enthusiastic about our home. The words "really excited to view your home" were the first uttered. It was great to get such a good reaction from them. We signed up. Photos were taken and details agreed. And we signed up. We were going on holiday and were happy to leave our home in their hands. Sadly the enthusiasm couldn't drum up one single viewing. We came back off holiday and as we had received no contact from Whitegates for approx. 4 weeks it was up to us to chase them. It was then that we found out that a new Sales Manager had been appointed and we were told that she wanted to visit us to discuss our property. We are experiences in selling homes and immediately came to the conclusion that a price reduction would be the ONLY suggestion put forward. Whilst it went against our own view of the property market we agreed that we would run with "a guide" price. This was much lower than the original valuation we had received from Whitegates and 3 other estate agents. Unfortunately this did not bring about any viewings either. Not even the ever present "look but not buying" people. We had been doing our research of the property market and it was clear that the market in our area had slowed almost to a standstill. Something that Whitegates was not prepared to accept. It is the responsibility of any Estate Agent to ensure that they investigate local trends and that they advise their clients accordingly. At not time should any estate agent encourage sellers to "reduce" the price in order to possibly get a sale. There was no more contact with Whitegates until we instructed them to remove our property from the market as there was no point in leaving it on just for the sake of it. In our particular area there were/are still some 6-8 properties of different size and price which have been on the market are are still on the market. So in relation to our review would we go back to Whitegates if we decide to re-market in the future - probably not. We will definitely do our research a bit more thoroughly as it is very demoralising when you don't get even one viewer. Communication with the sellers is absolutely necessary for any agent even if it is just to remind them that they have not been forgotten. Not sure that any one reading this will agree with our view but unfortunately it is how we feel about our experience.... Read more
