There are some very unprofessional and unorganised agents around at the moment.

I found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable, during my recent purchase of my property in Barnsley. Attention to detail and speed of informing me how things were going during the conveyancing process, gave me the confidence it would all happen. They were always punctual and friendly during the numerous viewings, and telephone calls I made concerning the property. Any questions or doubts I raised were all answered with confidence and with friendly advice.

I can’t thank the staff at Whitegates, especially Sarah, Will and Steve enough for all their help and support in selling Mum’s home during what has been a stressful time for me. They made the whole process much easier than I thought it would be. They were very efficient and communication was excellent; nothing was too much trouble and the staff were extremely helpful, professional and friendly and went above and beyond at every level. The house was sold in the first week of advertising which is remarkable.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Whitegates to others and 5 stars isn’t enough for the amazingly brilliant service I received.

HOTEL SANTANA, QAWRA MALTA.
Lovely clean hotel and excellent staff.
As a very light sleeper, I requested a 'quiet top floor ( no noise from above! ) room, at 'the back' - unfortunately this was opposite the service lift, and at the side of the guest lift, and 'marble' stair case up to the 6 th floor rooms at the front and side, one of the sun decks, and the roof top pool, so on a very busy through route, and lots of noise from very early 'till after midnight.
After very 4 nights of little or no sleep ( I did my best each night, before it caught up with me! - I mentioned it to reception, on our way out to visit our Maltese friends, that the 'quiet room' was the opposite, for future reference to other quests. I washed unexpectedly told I could move rooms, at 2 pm - if we could vacate the current room immediately - as I mentioned, we had arranged to be picked up by our Friends in 15 minutes, but after a short delay, we were told we could view the new room now, and it would be made available straight away. We agreed to this and in 15 minutes we had packed and vacated the 5th floor room, and put our cases in the new 2 nd floor room! In time to meet our friends!
Although the new room was only on the second floor, and facing the main road, it was next to the end of the corridor ( so no people passing), and the road was very quiet after around midnight - so 3 great nights sleep followed - fantastic customer service .
We are regular visitors to Malta to visit our Maltese friends in Mgarr, and Melliha, and after try various hotels in the past, we were looking for a centrally based hotel we could use on every visit ( the Santana fits this criteria, also being a 5 minutes walk to the bus station - with busses to all over Malta, and even the ferry to Gozo!
All-in-all ( after a misunderstanding of their ' quiet rooms' ( which was professionally and promptly rectified after I had made the problem known to them) the Santana and it's staff are highly recommended, and we will indeed use it a again,- probably on every visit to Malta - once or twice a year, every other year - ( and hopefully it's outdoor pool later in the season, ( the indoor pool near the dining room was nice and warm in April ( and the food was excellent in every respect too!

We called the office to view a property on a Saturday for 2 pm no body turn up from white gates and the office is closed Saturday afternoon so we will not be going to them again it will not let me no star on the review we would not recommend them to anybody yes we were there from 2 pm until 2-55 we got told a agent was going to show us the property not the vendor and we contact the office but you were shut so your office at 2-10 and 2-25 also 2-45 but we didn’t know that you shut at 1 pm were other estate agents open until 4 pm to 5 pm on a Saturday

I have recently arranged a viewing for a property which was being marketed by Whitegates and I can honestly say that they are probably the main reason why we aren’t buying the property in question.
From the initial call, the person on the other end of the phone couldn’t have been less interested.
They eventually arranged the viewing which was with the seller themselves.
We have made an offer shortly after the viewing and never heard from them again until we were chasing any outcome.
All we were getting from them is they’re not the sellers therefore they don’t make decisions an in my opinion they never followed this up and even if their statement is true, there are better ways to communicate with potential buyers who will be paying their fees upon completion.
Finally after a couple of days they did call with the news that the owners rejected the offer and although we have tried to get some guidance from them in order to make an acceptable counter offer, they never assisted us at all.
All we’ve been told is to call them if we wish to increase our offer but upon checking rightmove a couple of hours later we noticed that the asking price has been increased by 10k which we haven’t been told during the phone call either.
As we have found their procedure very unethical and uninterested we decided to move on and luckily we have found a much better property even though it was still 10k more than their increased asking price but we are proceeding with the assurance of a helpful and trusted local agent who actually cares.
Due to the above experience I would never list a property with Whitegates nor recommend them to any friends or family.
I will even give a miss to properties which they are marketing due to the negative and unethical experience which they have caused us.

I have just completed the sale of my late Mums bungalow all with the help of Whitegates in Barnsley. I cannot praise this team highly enough from the initial valuation by Darren , the Sales Team handling viewings/queries and all the way through to the final completion handover call with Will.
It is a wholly end to end first class proactive service. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and I felt they were also invested in selling my Mums property as much as I was.
Selling property is a stressful activity but the down to earth advice and guidance from Terri and her team made the whole experience enjoyable!
I'll miss the banter with Will - he knows his stuff when it comes to buying/selling!

I've just completed my first sale with Whitegates Barnsley - of a number of properties I'm selling in the area.
I've been really impressed with their service throughout the process. In particular Steve, Debbie and Beth have been excellent.
At a time a few months ago when many other agents were too disorganised to deal with enquiries, Whitegates quickly accepted my instructions, and had the first two properties advertised very quickly.
Buyer enquiries and viewing bookings were quickly arranged, keeping me in the loop with progress, and the multiple offers received.
When it came to negotiating the sales, they recognised that the highest offers are not always the 'best' offers, and provided me with all the information I needed on buyer status and funding to enable us to quickly choose which offer to accept.
Once the sale had been agreed, regular and relevant communication continued throughout to a timely completion.
I'd have absolutely no hesitation recommending Whitegates Barnsley to others who want a smooth, professional sale, with experienced agents.

Whitegates feels it is acceptable to increase your rent through a pandemic, giving barely a months notice knowing full well how difficult it would be to find alternative living arrangements. Very unresponsive, have a broken toilet for almost 2 weeks with no reply or anything.

As first time sellers we were naturally apprehensive about the house moving process, we needn't have been with Whitegates Barnsley. We had four agencies value our home and Darren was by and far the most clear and professional of the lot. We felt his advice and approach was honest and fair and the package that Whitegates offered was the best value for money of the agencies we met - and by a significant amount.
Nothing was too much trouble when it came to marketing the property - new external photographs were taken on a sunnier day, without us prompting, and the brochure really helped present the property in its best light. Anyone we spoke to in the office was really helpful and friendly when arranging viewings and when the offers came forward we felt well equipped to proceed. In fact, you sold our home at the asking price within three weeks of going to market - completely exceeding our expectations.
It's been a real pleasure dealing with you - it's felt a breeze, the most stressful aspect of this process has been hoovering the house before any viewing! I think that's a good enough sign that you have chosen the right estate agency.
Should we be buying or selling in the Barnsley area again, we would have absolutely zero hesitation in dealing with Whitegates again.

Having wasted 12 months using other estate agents which did absolutely nothing I decided to try whitegates. They were excellent . Had viewings through the door the 1st week and sold in a couple of months . Debbie at Barnsley couldn't do enough to help and was always there to help. Forget the online fix fee people. Pay their price they earn it.

I can't rate Debbie and Sue at Whitegates highly enough or thank them enough for all their help and hard work assisting me in what was a less than straightforward purchase
They were friendly, polite, patient and highly professional at all times and I felt they worked as hard for me as they did for the vendor. Tactful, diplomatic and excellent at keeping the lines of communications open between solicitors, vendor and myself. I know estate agents get a bad press but these guys earn their money.
