When I say they are an absolute credit to their industry, I do not offer those words lightly. My journey with Geoff Burgoyne and his exceptional team began in June 2024, when our father made the decision to let his home as he moved in to live with my sister. From the very first interaction, Geoff and his letting team demonstrated a level of care, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness that immediately set them apart. Having operated as a landlord for twenty-five years and having worked with a considerable number of estate agents during that time, I can state with complete conviction that Buckinghams surpasses them all — not by a small margin, but by a considerable distance. Our father passed away in June 2024, shortly after the property had been let, and the world as I knew it changed in an instant. The tenants remained in the property, and through every maintenance matter, every decision, and every development, Buckinghams handled everything with a transparency that I had simply never encountered before at this level. Every communication was clear, timely, and unsolicited — meaning I never had to chase, never had to wonder, and never had to second-guess what was happening with the property. Geoff and his team appeared to operate from a fundamental belief that a landlord, and particularly one navigating personal grief, deserved to be kept fully informed at every turn. That transparency was not a feature of their service — it was the very fabric of how they conducted themselves, and it made an immeasurable difference during one of the most difficult periods of life. When the time came to sell the property through probate — a process that is inherently emotional and, at times, deeply turbulent — Geoff and his team proved themselves to be not merely agents, but trusted partners. They were instrumental in navigating an experience that carried enormous personal weight, and they carried it with us with grace, sensitivity, and unwavering competence. Yet perhaps what moved me most during the sale process was something that no contract obliges an estate agent to do. There were minor remedial tasks required by the seller prior to completion — small but necessary jobs that many agents would have instinctively passed on to subcontractors, adding cost, delay, and yet another unfamiliar face to an already weary process. Geoff rolled up his sleeves and attended to those tasks personally. That single act speaks volumes about the character of the man and the culture of the business he has built. It is one thing to manage a sale with professionalism; it is quite another to show up in the way that Geoff did, with the kind of quiet, selfless commitment that cannot be trained into someone — it must simply be part of who they are. Buckinghams have set a benchmark that others in their industry should study and aspire to reach. They have raised the bar to a height that speaks to what this profession, at its very finest, can genuinely be. My family and I have been through an enormous amount since June 2024, and through it all, right up until exchange, Buckinghams stood with us.
